Now for a fun holiday project...

Don't you just love that little sparkly reindeer?? He is one of my all-time favourite holiday dies from the Santa's Sleight Thinlits. The background is a piece of Be Merry DSP which I adhered to a Cherry Cobbler card stock base. I layered 3" x 4" pieces of Garden Green and Whisper White card stock, embossing the white with the Softly Falling TIEF.

The sentiement is stamped in Basic Black ink and then die-cut using the Stitched Shapes framelits. I added some Garden Green pine boughs, die cut with the Christmas Staircase Thinlits and some gold mini sequin trim behind the die-cut label. As mentioned above, the reindeer is die-cut from gold glimmer paper.

On the inside I added a piece of Whisper White card stock on which I stamped the sentiments from the Santa's Sleigh stamp set in Basic Black and then the wreath and bow in Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler ink respectively.

This is a super-quick and easy card to put together if you are finding yourself rushed to get your cards made and in the mail this season!

Wishing You Peace and a Deal!

Happy Labour Day!  Many here are enjoying a long weekend...the last one of summer and my last day of holidays before I head back to work tomorrow. As the kids head back to school and life takes on it's familiar routine, it is time to get back to some stamping!  The new Holiday Catalogue is just one week old and to help you get started on your Wishlist I am offering a special Back-to-School-Back-to-Stamping promotion.

Now for  a little inspiration to get you thinking about your Christmas cards this year...

Christmas card featuring the Dove of Peace stamp with sentiment from Holly Jolly Greetings
Don't you just love the Dove of Peace stamp from the Holiday Catalogue??  That image is simply stunning...and looks amazing heat-embossed in gold, which is what I did here. I matted the embossed panel on a piece of gold foil sheet to give just a narrow border and added some gold 1/8" metallic ribbon.

The sentiment, which is also heat-embossed in gold, is from the Holly Jolly Greetings set. I used the Softly Falling TIEF to emboss the background panel and built the whole card on a base of thick Whisper White card stock.

Here are all of the products I used to create this card:

Whew!

Today is my sweet, not-so-little boy's 8th birthday.  Hard to believe this little peanut...

...is now this fun, sweet, loving 8-year-old:

I don't know where the time has gone!  I am so proud of the wonderful young man my boy is becoming...happy birthday Maxwell!

Now for some stamping!  Max held his 8th birthday party on Saturday.  He wanted a Penguins of Madagascar theme and, of course, there are no decorations or party supplies of any kind to be found!  So, I improvised!  I made his invitations...they turned out pretty well:

I made the file folder using the Envelope Punch Board from Kraft card stock.  The lettering and date on the front of the folder were done with the This and That Remember and the Alphabet Rotary Stamps. The grid image is stamped in Crumb Cake ink and is from the the Off the Grid (retired) stamp. The Seal of Approval image is stamped in Real Red ink and is from the Grunge Rock set (also retired).  I printed the silhouette image of the penguins using my ink jet printer, die cut it using the Squares Framelits and then sponged it with So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie inks.  I created the polaroid look also using the Squares Framelits.  The little clip is one of the Essentials Hardware Clips.

I let Max choose the colour scheme for his party.  He went with black, white and orange, because those are the colours of the penguins.  It had a decidedly Halloween'ish look!  I made him a banner using the Party Pennants Bigz die and Tangelo Twist card stock.  The letters are die cut using a long retired set of alphabet dies.  The penguins were printed on my ink jet printer, fussy cut out and then adhered to the banner with dimensionals.  I strung the pennants on some 1/8" silver metallic ribbon and added some silver glimmer stars for some sparkle.

The loot bags were done using My Digital Studio.  I created a postcard-size page and dropped in an image I found online.I printed them off and glued them to plain white gift bags, again adding a few glimmer stars for sparkle.

As if all the birthday hoopla weren't enough, we also had a wonderful family Easter yesterday, complete with a huge dinner and, of course, an egg hunt...

I hope you had as wonderful an Easter weekend as we did.  We are so very blessed!

Today I have another project I designed for this week's challenge over at The Technique Twist.  We're all about the Modern Whimsy style this time and there is still plenty of time for you to join us!  Check out this Mother's Day card I put together:

Mother's Day card in the Modern Whimsy style featuring the Secret Garden, Petite Petals and Hello Lovely stamp sets.
You know how sometimes when you're in the crafting zone projects just seem to design themselves?  Well this is NOT one of those projects!  I spent hours figuring this one out!  And, to be honest, it's not anything special, in my opinion!  Now, don't get me wrong, I like it well enough, but it certainly doesn't look like the type of thing one would spend hours putting together.  So, to save you the hassle of trying to recreate it, here are some tips...hope they help!

  • The colour scheme is Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake and Pool Party.
  • The DSP is from the Fresh Prints stack.
  • The Coral flowers are from the Secret Garden stamp set (which is on the retirement list...get it NOW!) and were die cut using the coordinating Framelits.
  • The Pool Party flowers are from the Petite Petals stamp set and were punched using the coordinating punch.
  • I used my Squares Collection Framelits to create the polaroid frame.
  • The background is embossed using the Scallops TIEF.
  • The largest heart was die cut using the Hearts Collection framelits.  The medium one was punched with the Small Heart punch (also on the Retirement List!) and the smallest heart was punched with the Owl Builder punch.
  • The letters on the banner were stamped with the Simply Serif Mini Alphabet on DSP and then punched with the Banner punch.

I hope I haven't scared you off from trying this style.  It really is (usually) easy breezy.  Give it a go and then enter our challenge over at The Technique Twist...I'd love to see what you come up with!

Now today is Tuesday, which means a new batch of Weekly Deals.  This round features several items from the Retiring Accessories List at 25% off.  The best part?  You can order online right now and they'll ship directly to you for FREE!!

I have a sweet little project that I designed for my Brides, Babies and Birthday Card Buffet this week.  It is the perfect way to let your Mom know how much you appreciate her this Mother's Day...

Mother's Day card featuring the Petite Petals stamp set with sentiment from Delightful Dozen
I just love this colour combo of Smokey Slate, Coastal Cabana and Crushed Curry.  I was inspired by the Eastern Elegance DSP pack, which just happens to be on the Retiring Accessories List!  I wanted to try doing an angled layout, as I've seen many lately that I just love.

Interestingly, this was another project I put together using odds and ends from the pile on my stamp desk!  I had the scrap of DSP, a bit of ruffled ribbon and half a doily laying around from other projects, so I put 'em all together and this is what I ended up with.  I liked it so much I decided to incorporate it into the line-up for this week's event.

Inside view with sentiment from the Something to Celebrate (retired) Hostess set.
Now, I'm off to browse the Retiring Lists and place my order before everything on my Wish List sells out...you should do the same!!
