Sending Smiles for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. Mine is extra-fabulous because it is the start of my March Break. A whole week to catch up on projects around the house and, of course, stamp! Wahoooo!

Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps.

Here is my take on it:

I actually designed this card weeks ago. I had my challenges mixed up and thought this one was up last month...oops! The nice thing is that it was done WELL in advance, which is a pretty rare occurence for me these days! I used some Carried Away Sale-a-bration DSP for the banner element, die-cutting it with the Banners Framelits. The background Whisper White panel is embossed using the Seaside TIEF.

I created an ombre look on the balloons by first inking the entire stamp with the lighter shade of ink (Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride) and then dabbing on the darker shade with a sponge dauber. I used Emerald Envy over the Mint Macaron and Rose Red over the Blushing Bride. I used the Up and Away Framelits to die-cut the balloons.
The sentiment and clouds are stamped in Smoky Slate ink on a Whisper White circle which I die-cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I layered the white circle on a Blushing Bride scalloped circle, which I cue using the Layering Circles Framelits.

I added some Blushing Bride Baker's twine (retired) and a little silver enamel heart for just a touch of shine.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's projects and then give our sketch a go. We'd love to see your take on it, so be sure to share it with us at Sunday Stamps.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Tools for Dad

Whew...what a crazy whirlwind the past few days have been! The bands from my music department performed at Musicfest Regionals on Friday and came away with two golds and a silver...mighty proud of my kiddos and colleagues! Then my BFF Michelle Suit came for a visit from Virginia and we had a great girls' weekend with lots of stamping, spoiling and fun. This gal is pooped! Thank goodness March Break is only four days away...I need a rest!

Today I have a man-card for you. I designed it for my upcoming all-occasions card buffet later this month using products from the Urban Underground Suite.

The background paper is from the Urban Underground Specialty DSP pack, as is the lighter horizontal strip. I stamped the tools from the Nailed It stamp set twice, once on silver foil card and once on Delightful Dijon. I die-cut them using the Build It Framelits and then paper-pieced the Dijon handles onto the silver tools. This is a quick and easy solution when you don't have time to colour the images. To make the wrench longer, I simply cut it in half and adhered it on the top and bottom of the die-cut sentiment label.

I added some texture using some (retired) Delightful Dijon ribbon from last year's Holiday Catty and a couple of Urban Underground embellishments. I created additional embellishments by die-cutting some screws and nuts from silver foil and added them to accent the sentiment label. The card is built on a Delightful Dijon card stock base.

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla card stock panel on which I stamped several nails, nuts and screws using Basic Black ink, stamped off once. I added a sentiment from the Urban District stamp set in full-strength Basic Black.

I am loving this suite of products so much I am planning a whole class around it for later this spring...stay tuned!

Dreaming of the Ocean

I don't know about you, but I am soooo ready for warm weather and the sand between my toes! I've had enough of dreary winter weather, thank you. Bring on the beach!
Today's card will get you in the mood for beach weather too! It features the High Tide stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue...

I wanted to come up with a masculine design for my upcoming card buffet and this stamp set fit the bill perfectly (although I'd be happy to recieve this beachy card too!). I began with a Chocolate Chip card stock base and layered it with a piece of Tasty Treats Specialty DSP. I love stripes for a nautical feel. The beach scene is created using various images from the High Tide stamp set. I stamped the lighthouse using Cherry Cobbler and Chocolate Chip ink. The sand is stamped in Sahara Sand, the water in Dapper Denim and the birds in Chocolate Chip. I stamped the sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink as well and die-cut it using the Stitched Shapes framelits. I matted both stamped panels using Dapper Denim card stock.

I added some Cherry Cobbler Baker's twine and an Urban Underground star embellishment, which I thought worked perfectly for a nautical theme.

On the inside I added a Whisper White panel on which I created another seaside theme. The sentiment is from the Guy Greetings stamp set. I have to admit I like the inside of this one almost as much as I like the front! Can you believe this is the first time I inked up my High Tide stamp set?? It most certainly won't be the last...I am loving it!

Have a fabulous weekend...I have a visit with my BFF planned...can't wait!!
