Mother's Day Succulents

Happy Friday!  I hope you've had a good week. This has been a long one for sure!! I'm looking forward to some serious studio time this weekend to play with all of my preorder goodies that arrived this week. So many ideas swimming around in my brain that need to be brought to life.
This weekend is also Mother's Day which means (hopefully) that I'll get a bit of a break on the house and yard work which means more me-time :)
In celebration of Mother's Day I thought I would share with you a card I designed for a private class I did last weekend. The hostess had asked for a card that would work as both a Mother's Day or a feminine birthday, depending on her guests' needs. This is what I came up with...

I think this may have been inspired by Pinterest, but it has been a while since I designed it so I can't remember exactly whose card it was. I used some Succulent Garden DSP for the background panel, mounting it on a larger piece of Whisper White card stock. I layered that on a piece of Mint Macaron card stock embossed using the Petal Burst TIEF. The wreath is die-cut using the Swirly Scribbles thinlits and the flower is done with the Succulent Framelits. I use Mint Macaron and silver glimmer paper to construct the flower.

The sentiment is from the Oh, So Succulent stamp set and is stamped in Mint Macaron ink. The only embellishments are some lace trim peeking out from behind the DSP panel and a single rhinestone in the centre of the flower. Just the right touch of bling :)

On the inside I stamped some flowers from the Oh, So Succulent stamp set as well as another sentiment in Mint Macaron.

This card was a hit with the guests at my class...and what's even better is that most of the products I used, although retiring, are on sale until the end of May or supplies run out. The Succulent Garden bundle is one of my favourites and I am sad to see it go away, but plan to get lots of use out of it before it does.

Have a fabulous Friday and wonderful weekend!

Eastern Note for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. It has been SO cold and rainy here...five straight days of steady rain and near freezing temperatures...wondering what happened to spring! I hope it is nicer where you are!!

Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps...

Since I have been obsessed with the Eastern Palace Bundle lately, I naturally used it for my project:

I began with a piece of Whisper White card stock which I embossed using the Softly Falling TIEF. I purposely cut it a bit narrower than I needed so as to leave room for a pretty gold scallop border sticker, which I adhered directly to the thick Whisper White card base. I used some Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate for the rectangular element and then die-cut a medallion from Whisper White card stock using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits. I backed the die-cut medallion with a gold foil circle to make it pop against the white background.

I heat embossed the sentiment, which is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set, in gold and added another piece of border sticker along the bottom. I added a gold tassel and some retired gold cord, which works perfectly with the tassel and is still available on the Clearance Rack in my webstore.

I love how quick and easy it is to create elegant projects with this suite of products. The stickers and tassels add so much to the finished project and the medallion dies...well they are beyond fabulous! If you have not taken advantage of the pre-release of these amazing products yet, you don't know what you're missing!

This is a super-versatile sketch...be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects and then give the sketch a try...and be sure to share your work with us so we can marvel at your creativity!

Have a super Sunday!

An Eastern Opulence Christmas

I am sooo excited! The new catalogue pre-order has begun for demonstrators and mine has already shipped! It should be here early next week, so prepare for LOTS of sneak peeks and project ideas in the next few weeks.
Are you dying to get your hands on the new catalogue products as much as I am? Did you know that new demonstrators who join during the month of May can choose pre-order items for their starter kit? How awesome would it be to not only get $165 worth of product for just $135 (tax and shipping free) but also to get a 20% discount on EVERYTHING you want from the new catty?? Pretty awesome, huh? Click HERE to learn more.

Ok, so I mentioned earlier this week that I had some ideas for Christmas cards using the new Eastern Beauty stamp set, which is part of the current Eastern Palace Bundle promotion. I couldn't get it out of my head so I just had to sit down and bring my idea to life. Check it out...

Doesn't that image make a beautiful snowflake? And the die cuts it so that the inner parts pop up, giving it dimension.  To start I stamped the snowflake outline image using Pool Party ink and then die-cut it using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits. Then I stamped the flourish detail, taking care to stay within the die-cut lines. I also added a touch of Wink of Stella, though it doesn't show up in the photos. Sooo pretty and sparkly!

The speckled background behind the die-cut is heat embossed in silver. To ensure I placed the image correctly I die-cut another snowflake to use as a mask while stamping the speckles...it worked like a charm.  I stamped a couple more snowflakes on the background panel and matted it with silver foil card stock. The sentiment is from the Christmas Pines stamp set and is also heat embossed in silver. I used the Softly Falling TIEF to emboss the Smoky Slate background panel.

On the inside I added a piece of Whisper White card stock on which I stamped more snowflakes in Pool Party ink and another sentiment from the Christmas Pines set in Smoky Slate. It sure feels good to have this idea out of my head and on paper...except now I have several more that came from playing with these fabulous products. So many ideas, so little time!

Isn't that rich purple card base beautiful? It is one of the new In-Colours called Fresh Fig. It is deeper than Perfect Plum and more brown than Elegant Eggplant...completely unlike any colour in the current Stampin' Up! palette. I used the Eastern Medallions Thinlits to die-cut the intricate medallion window. These dies are THE BOMB! They layer perfectly allowing one to create numerous different combinations. So many possibilities with these...I have some Christmas card ideas swimming in my brain I need to bring to life using these dies...stay tuned!

See that pretty gold metallic border peeking out from under the medallion piece? That was created using the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers...super easy and no worries about stamping straight or heat embossing. Just a super-quick and easy WOW.
Now if you're sharp-eyed you likely also noticed that yummy citrus green stamped on the medallion. That's another new In-Colour called Lemon Lime Twist and it is fast becoming my new favourite colour. So fresh and vibrant and it pairs beautifully with so many other shades.

On the inside I created a pretty border using several different images from the Eastern Beauty stamp set. All of the little elements combine to create endless possibilities. This is one set that is a must-have from the new catalogue.

Have a magnificent Monday and a fabulous week!!
