Feelin' the Love

Nope...not so much loving the fact that it's Monday or that my two week Christmas vacation has ended, but I am thinking about Valentine's Day.  It will be here before we know it, so it is time to get started on projects to give to the special someones in my life.  I like to give Valentine's treats to just about everyone...even my students at school...so I need to get going on them early.  Today's projects is one I will likely send to my dear Dad...who was my very first Valentine.  He's a bushman at heart and will appreciate this card...

Valentine's card featuring the Wood you Be Mine? stamp set (available TOMORROW in the Occasions Catalogue).
I love this stamp set.  Maybe it's because I grew up with a father who loves nothing more than to head into the bush and chop down dead trees to cut them up for firewood.  The burly lumberjack is the way I will always remember my dad, even though he is now in his seventies and anything but big and burly.  He still loves to get out in the bush and so it was with him in mind that I created this card.
I began with a piece of Early Espresso Core'dinations card stock that I embossed with the Woodgrain TIEF and then lightly sanded.  The background piece is Crumb Cake card stock that I stamped repeatedly with the log image and then sponged  in Crumb Cake ink.  I added some wee hearts between the logs with gold metallic ink.

The lumberjack is stamped in Memento Tuxedo black ink and then coloured with Blendabilities.  I used the Skin Tone, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight sets.  Once I finished colouring I fussy cut the image and then adhered it to the stamped background panel using dimensionals.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink and then die cut using the Word Bubbles Framelits.  The little gold hearts were punched with the Confetti Hearts punch (also available in the Occasions Catty tomorrow).  The larger heart next to the sentiment was punched with the Itty Bitty Accents pack.

On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment, inking it with Early Espresso and Real Red markers, and then added a few more gold confetti hearts.
Before I go, just a reminder that today is the last day to take advantage of the Year-end Closeout deals and to order your favourite products from the Holiday Catalogue.  While some will carry over into the new catty, many will disappear for good at midnight tonight!
