Pile of Piggies for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the first long weekend of summer! We had a great day yesterday celebrating Canada's 150th birthday, complete with an amazing fireworks display. It was a late night, but sure was worth it!

Today marks the beginning of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps. This one really stretched my creativity (tee-hee)...

To fill all of that tall and skinny space, I decided I need a pile of piggies!

How cute are they?? I used the new This Little Piggy stamp set, stamping each piggy on Powder Pink card stock and then fussy cutting them out. I added a little blush to each with a sponge dauber and Powder Pink ink.

To create the background I first did a wash on watercolour paper using my watercolour pencils and an aquapainter. Once that was dry I added the clouds with embossing paste and the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. I am having SO much fun with that stuff! I adhered the watercoloured background panel to a 4-1/4" x 8" Crumb Cake card stock base.

The balloon is punched from Bermuda Bay card stock using the Balloon Bouquet punch. I added a bit of Pool Party solid baker's twine.  The sentiment, from the This Little Piggy stamp set, is stamped in Basic Black ink and then punched using the (retired) Washi Label punch.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black on a Whisper White panel. I also stamped another piggy using Basic Black archival ink, heat set it and then coloured it using my Power Pink ink pad and a blender pen. I added another punched Bermuda Bay balloon.

I am so loving this card and I truly hope the recipient will too! It was a real challenge working with an unconventional card size this week...give it a go and see where your creativity takes you. Then be sure to share it with us at Sunday Stamps!
