Now on to today's card...The excitement is building in our household.  My son turns four in a month and this is the first year he really "gets" the whole birthday party thing.  He already has the whole thing planned...right down to the kind of cake he wants and what kinds of presents he is going to get!  I tried to explain to him that he doesn't get to choose what presents people will give him, but he is convinced every gift will be Lightening McQueen (from the Disney movie CARS)!  We spent this morning looking at different Lightening McQueen cakes online until he found the one liked.  I think he has my "control freak" gene!!  Anyhow, with birthdays on the brain, here is a birthday card I did using items from the Sale-A-Bration catalogue:

Inside of card...I kept it simple!

I am so thrilled with the SAB offerings this year!  The stamp set choices are so diverse and versatile and the DSP and ribbon/button bundle are in such bright, cheerful colours even a "regals" gal like me can get excited about them.  Here is what I did to put this card together:

I started with a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Ice Cream Parlour DSP.  I then cut  1 3/4" x 2 3/4" pieces of cardstock in one of each of the following colours:  peach parfait, melon mambo and pacific point.  I glued them to the DSP (they will fit the length exactly), centering them horizontally.  I cut three 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" pieces of whisper white cardstock.  Using the images from the So Happy for You set, I stamped the flowers in pacific point on one piece, the hearts in melon mambo on the second and the butterflies in peach parfait on the third.  I then sponged each piece in the corresponding ink colour, covering the entire surface.  I like this look because it almost looks like DSP!.  I then adhered each stamped piece to it's corresponding coloured mat on the DSP, centering each one.  I wrapped a piece of the Ice Cream Parlour ribbon around the lower third of the cardfront, securing either end on the back with glue dots.  I then took one of each colour button, cut a sliver of cardstock and used it as faux thread, inserting it through the holes and securing it on the back of the button with a glue dot.  I then adhered the buttons along the ribbon, centering one on each stamped panel.  The whole cardfront was then adhered to a daffodil delight card base.  I stamped the sentiment in pacific point on a scrap of daffodil delight cardstock and hand-cut a banner shape.  I sponged the edges in pacific point, added a retired corduroy button (you could just use another Ice Cream Parlour button) and adhered the sentiment to the card using dimensionals.

For the inside, I just stamped the same images I used on the cardfront randomly along the right side using daffodil delight ink.  I then sponged the outer edges of the entire inside panel in daffodil delight.

That's it!  A cute and simple birthday card...and the best part?  Most of the materials were FREE!
