Peace & Joy

Happy Tuesday! Can you believe we are nearly at the end of October?? This year has felt like an eternity, while also flying by...how is that possible?? As we near the end of the month I am kicking my Christmas card planning and design into high gear. This week I am featuring the awesome Peace & Joy bundle from the August-December Mini catalogue...check it out:

Here is a pretty, non-traditional holiday card that could be sent to just about anyone...

Non-traditional christmas card

I had some great fun with Frost White Shimmer Paint and Seaside Spray and Misty Moonlight reinkers to create  the shimmery background on this card. I know it is hard to see in the photo, but it has a beautiful sheen that I absolutely love...

Non-traditional Christmas card

I used the sparkly images from the Peace and Joy stamp set on the background, inking them with both Seaside Spray and Misty Moonlight ink. The sentiment is stamped using the ombre technique, and then die-cut using the Joy Dies. I love that those dies create so many different layered sentiment looks!

Non-traditional Christmas card

I added some Misty Moonlight/White/Silver metallic twine and a little Glitter Star Ornament behind the sentiment, as well as some Elegant Faceted Gems to add extra sparkle and shine.

Non-traditional Christmas card

On the inside of my Misty Moonlight card base,  I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped another sentiment from the Peace & Joy stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink, as well as some more sparkle images in Seaside Spray. Although I made this as a Christmas card, it could easily be sent to anyone, whether they celebrate Christmas or not, by simply changing the inside sentiment...gotta love versatility!

Here is the video in which I demonstrate this card and two others using this awesome bundle. Included in the video description on my YouTube channel are all of the measurements:

Thanks so much for stopping by today...I hope you have a spectacular week!

Celebration Tidings

Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a good weekend and that your week is off to a great start. Things here are hectic, as usual, as I try to balance the demands of teaching in a pandemic and my Stampin' Up! business. Some days there just aren't enough hours...thank goodness for a very understanding family who pick up the slack on household chores when I'm too busy!

Last weekend I had a chance to play with the Celebration Tidings bundle and had great fun designing cards and treat packaging. The great thing about this bundle is that it includes images and sentiments for all of the fall holidays, making it super-versatile. Check out the bundle below...

Here is a shaker card and coordinating treat holder I made using the bundle and the Plaid Tidings DSP from the same suite...

halloween treat holder

The treat holder uses two different-sized labels from the Celebration Labels dies. I embossed the larger, Basic Black label using the Cobwebs embossing folder and then cut slits using a craft knife that allowed me to slide a treat-sized chocolate bar between them. The smaller label is cut from Plaid Tidings DSP and is adhere to the front of the larger label to conceal the hidden treat. I added a full moon punched from Mango Melody card stock using the 2" circle punch and some little black glittery bats I die-cut using the Halloween Magic Dies. The sentiment is from the Celebration Tidings stamp set and is stamped in Memento black ink on a die-cut stitched rectangle. I added a little silver foil spider web, cut with the Peek-a-Hoot dies, and a little stamped and die-cut spider. Such a fun way to package a simple Halloween treat!

As much as I love the treat holder, I think I love the shaker card more! Who wouldn't love to receive this fun card filled with glittery black bats and colourful sequins? I used the Celebration Labels dies to cut my window and lined the back of the shaker with more of the same pattern of Plaid Tidings DSP. The sentiment is the same one I used on the treat holder, but this time I layered it on a strip of Mango Melody card stock before adding  more little stamped and die-cut spiders. My favourite part of this card is that gorgeous metallic mesh ribbon...I love the sparkle it adds...just like a spider web!

Hallows Night Magic

Happy...um...Wednesday? I know, I'm a day late posting this week. I don't know about you, but lately it just feels like there are never enough hours in the day to get everything done. This past weekend was our Thanksgiving here in Canada, but I spent it in my studio prepping for my upcoming virtual retreat. I did manage to cook turkey dinner for my family, but beyond that, I didn't really come up for air. Sometimes having two jobs is HARD! Now that the retreat prep is (mostly) done, I can refocus on projects for this week's live video which is all about HALLOWEEN!

I'm featuring the Hallows Night Magic bundle this week and will showcase some fun cards and treat holders all week long. I'm not normally one to send Halloween cards, but given that things will look very different this year, I am planning to send several more than usual. Check this out...

I have often said I am not one who usually buys Halloween-specific products from our catalogues, but this year's suite is soooo PRETTY I couldn't resist. I am not a fan of scary or gory Halloween products, but these pretty bats and beautiful papers are something I can get VERY excited about!

I used several patterns from the Magic in This Night DSP pack on this card. There are just soooo many pretty patterns to choose from in this set, I couldn't use just one. Bonus: this pack is part of this month's DSP sale...get it at 15% off until the end of October!

To create a sort of spider web effect, I layered some Metallic Mesh ribbon over a strip of black DSP to go behind my sentiment label...I love the effect of this! The sentiment label itself is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then coloured using Stampin' Blends in Light Cajun Craze and Light Pretty Peacock. Soooo pretty! The bats are stamped in black ink on Pretty Peacock card stock and then die-cut using the Halloween Magic dies.

On the inside of the Basic Black card base, I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped another sentiment from the Hallows Night Magic stamp set as well as a partial image from the sentiment label I used on the front of the card. I added a little spider from the Hallows night Magic as a little accent next to the sentiment.

I also designed a fun coordinating Pocket-Bac holder to give along with it...because we ALL need more hand sanitizer in our lives these days, right? The larger label die in the Halloween Magic Dies is the perfect backdrop for  a full moon and more pretty bats. And how about that vellum spider? Don't you love the pretty iridescent pearls for his body? Bling like that makes even creepy spiders look pretty!

Pocket Bac Holder

The Magic in This Night product suite strikes the perfect balance between traditional Halloween imagery and beautifully intricate patterns with a fresh colour palette of Cajun Crazy, Pretty Peacock, Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black. It has so much to offer, even for those of us who aren't huge Halloween fans. You can see more of this suite, including both of these projects,  in my video below. All of the measurements for both projects are included in the video description on my YouTube channel:
