Shake up the new year

Well, just a few days remain in 2016...can you believe it? In honour of the new year, I have a shaker card for you today...

This is such a quick and easy one to put together, I actually offered it at an recent card buffet! I used a 4" x 6" cello bag to contain my shaker, inserting a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pop of Pink Specialty DSP for the background and then adding sequins from the Metallic Assortment. I also added some punched confetti I made using gold glimmer paper and the Sprinkles punch. I sealed the cello bag with some Washi tape at the back and voila...instant shaker! Before adhering the shaker to my Basic Black card front, I added a strip of Pop of Pink Washi tape to the front.

The die-cut sentiment is cut from the gold foil sheets using the Hello You Thinlits. The stamped sentiment is from the It's a Celebration stamp set, which is only available for another week in the Holiday Catalogue.

On the iside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the sentiment from the Frosted Medallions stamp set (also retiring!) in Basic Black ink, as well as some fireworks from the It's a Celebration set in Encore gold metallic ink (retired).

I love how quick and easy this card is...and if you're not into sending New Year's cards, it would be a snap to change out the sentiment for a birthday. So fun!

Whew!

Well, Christmas has come and gone and my holidays are just beginning! As hectic as it was working right up until the 23rd, I am sure going to enjoy having the next 2 weeks to get some projects done. I hope you had a lovely Christmas...we certainly did!
I thought some of you might be thinking about preserving some of the precious memories you made over the past few days, so I thought I would share some Christmas Project Life layouts I did...

Now, these photos were taken several years ago (I'm just a wee bit behind...can anyone relate??). I can't believe how little Max was! I used the Hello December card kit, as well as other coordinating products from the Holiday Catalogue. One of my favourite things about Project Life by Stampin' Up! is that all of the colours coordinate with other Stampin' Up! products, which makes it so easy to add little extras to my layouts. For example, the 4" x 6" card in the upper left corner is actually a piece of Candy Cane Lane DSP! I simply matted a 3" x 4" card from the Hello December kit on a piece of Emerald Envy card stock and then mounted it on the DSP. Instant vertical title card! I added a die-cut silver reindeer (using the Santa's Sleigh Framelits) and a banner stamped with the Simply Stitched Stamp set.
Now, here's a tip for those of you struggling with photos in the wrong orientation. The two 4" x 6" pockets at the bottom of the left page are both for portrait-oriented photos, but all I had were landscape ones, so I cut two 4" x 6" pieces of Kraft card stock to create my cards. Then I cropped my photos to 3-3/4" square and adhered them to the cards. I embellished the empty space using the Pretty Pines Thinlits and Pine Bough TIEF and voila...full pockets with a photo AND embellishments! Remember this tip the next time you're struggling with photos that won't fit the pockets on your page.

My second layout for today features photos we had taken professionally by the same photographer who has been documenting Max's life since he was two weeks old. She does AMAZING work!

Once again, I used cards from the Hello December kit as well as some overlays from the Accessory kit. I also used some stamped sentiments from the Greetings Santa, Holly Jolly Greetings and Oh, What Fun stamp sets. I also used a little die-cut tree cut from Emerald Envy card stock using the Perfect Pines Framelits.
I can't wait to start preserving this year's Christmas memories...so many fun moments to document! I want to get it done before I forget about all the funny comments and sweet things Max said and did. Have a great final week of 2016!

Scrumptious Christmas packaging

Are you ready for Christmas yet? If you're anything like me, you're still scrambling to prepare gifts for teachers, neighbours and co-workers. I have a quick and easy solution  for you. Check out these fun gift boxes...

I wanted to give the ladies in my Project Life club a little chocolatey Christmas treat, so I pulled out my package of White Gift Boxes and went to work. I added a strip of Candy Cane Lane DSP around the sides of the box, adhering it with Fast Fuse. Placing my chocolates inside, I slid the  acetate sleeve over the box and then used some Real Red 3/4" stitched edge ribbon to tie it shut.

I made the tags using Read Red card stock and the Cheerful Tags Framelits. I added another little square of Candy Cane Lane DSP to the inside of the tag. The label is stamped in Versamark using the Here's to Cheers stamp set and heat embossed in gold. I added a little touch of bling with a little gold glimmer swirl, which I also die-cut using the Cheerful Tags framelits. I tied the tag to the box using some Candy Cane Lane baker's twine. Super quick and super easy...just what the doctor ordered for holiday craziness!

Have a fabulous week!
