Paisley Thanks

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start. This is a crazy one for me...so much happening both at school and with Stampin' Up! classes. I am getting my band ready to head to regionals for Musicfest Canada to try and qualify to repeat our National gold performance last spring. We have parents night on Wednesday but it feels like the semester just started! And, best of all, my bestie is coming for a visit this weekend! So much to do and sooo little time!
Today I have a project that was kind of a happy accident. I was working on projects for my upcoming card buffet and was down to a very limited number of ink colours remaining to design the final two cards. I pulled out the Paisleys and Posies stamp set (yep...it's still available!) and started stamping with various colours, thinking I would find a palette of two or three that I like together...this was the result and I love it! It uses SIX different ink colours!

Isn't that a cheerful, happy-making card? Here are the colours I used: Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Cucumber Crush and Basic Black. I just love the way they work together! This was the quickest, easiest card to pull together ever.

After stamping my background, I just added some Cucumber Crush think Baker's twine, as well as a sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set. I punched the stamped image with the 1-3/4" circle punch and layered it on a 2" circle in Basic Black. I love the way it pops against the colourful background. I do have to say I am seriously going to miss Cucumber Crush when it goes away in June! If you love it as much as I do be sure to order your card stock and reinker EARLY before it sells out!
The final touch on the front of the card was a few Brights Enamel Dots scattered amongst the stamped images.

On the inside I stamped more of the paisley images and left lots of space for a heartfelt message.  Super quick and simple and perfect for a card buffet!

Have a terrific week!

Memory-keeping Monday...Christmas Layouts!

Happy first Monday of 2017! I hope it is a good one.

Today I have a few more Christmas layouts to share with you, as you may be starting to preserve your family's Christmas memories from this season.

Once again I used the Hello December 2016 Card and Accessory kit from the Holiday Catalogue. This fabulous kit is only available until January 3rd, so scoop it up before it disappears for good! Speaking of products that are disappearing, I used a stamped sentiment from the Suite Seasons set, which is also retiring. The die-cut "Merry" is done by layering two die-cuts...one is Real Red and one in silver glimmer. I love the shadow effect. The ornament hanging from the die-cut sentiment is done using the Merry Tags Framelits, which will also retired this week.

I think this may be one of my favourite layouts I've done this season! Not only do I like the different elements, but I also love these photos of Max. I used several dies and stamp sets to add to the cards in the kit. You can see the complete list in the Products List at the bottom of this post.

These photos were from last year...they somehow got missed when I did our layouts from last Christmas! I so love that Project Life by Stampin' Up! makes it easy to preserve these precious memories of our boy!

Have a great first week of 2017!!

Shake up the new year

Well, just a few days remain in 2016...can you believe it? In honour of the new year, I have a shaker card for you today...

This is such a quick and easy one to put together, I actually offered it at an recent card buffet! I used a 4" x 6" cello bag to contain my shaker, inserting a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pop of Pink Specialty DSP for the background and then adding sequins from the Metallic Assortment. I also added some punched confetti I made using gold glimmer paper and the Sprinkles punch. I sealed the cello bag with some Washi tape at the back and voila...instant shaker! Before adhering the shaker to my Basic Black card front, I added a strip of Pop of Pink Washi tape to the front.

The die-cut sentiment is cut from the gold foil sheets using the Hello You Thinlits. The stamped sentiment is from the It's a Celebration stamp set, which is only available for another week in the Holiday Catalogue.

On the iside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the sentiment from the Frosted Medallions stamp set (also retiring!) in Basic Black ink, as well as some fireworks from the It's a Celebration set in Encore gold metallic ink (retired).

I love how quick and easy this card is...and if you're not into sending New Year's cards, it would be a snap to change out the sentiment for a birthday. So fun!
