Carols of Christmas Hop

Happy Friday!! The weekend is here...wahoo!! I am back from my week by the lake and what an amazingly restful few days it was. I read six novels in four days, so you can likely imagine just how I spent my days. This annual trip is the only time in the year when I truly relax and I love it. Now to try and get it back into gear and prepare for school to start in a couple of weeks!

Today marks another Tri-City Stampers Blog Hop. We are a couple of days late this month due to my trip and being completely off the grid while I was away. I am excited that we have a new member of my team joining us this month for the first time! Our theme this month is the Carols of Christmas bundle, which is a pre-release item from the upcoming Holiday Catalouge.

I was playing around with ideas using the woodpile pattern from the Wood Textures DSP stack and tried layering it with vellum. I love the result! I heat embossed the greeting in copper and then die-cut the frame from copper foil using the Layering Squares framelits. I chose to adhere it off-kilter and kind of like the look. It's almost like the embellishments are weighing it down. I adhered the background to a Kraft card stock base.

Speaking of embellishments, I went a wee bit craaazy here! I used some die-cut pine branches, cut from Garden Green card stock using the Pretty Pines thinlits. Over thos I added the copper berries, which were also die-cut using the same thinlit set. I added one of the large stars from the Hearts and Stars wooden elements and then added some 1/4" copper trim that I stretched out and then gathered with some Linen Thread. The final touch was a few copper sequins from the Metallics Assortment.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set in Early Espresso ink and added a 3/4" strip of the same pattern DSP.

Now be sure to check out the rest of my amazing stamping friends' creations. You can find them all below:

Have a fantabulous weekend!

  1. Love the copper foil, embossing, and all that layering! While I thought clean and simple was my style, I'm really into the layering these days--and yours is very pretty! Thanks for sharing!
