Warm and Cozy For Christmas

Happy last Monday of September! I have to say I am thrilled that the cooler fall weather has arrived and the leaves are starting to change. I love summer, but the heat in my classroom is something I can do without! Bring on sweater weather!

Speaking of cozy clothing, check out this card I designed using several products from the new catalogue...

Doesn't this just make you want to crawl into your favourite flannel PJ's and sip hot chocolate next to a crackling fire?? I can't wait for the first fire of the season...it is always the best!

To create this card, I inked up my Buffalo Check background stamp for the first time. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Real Red card stock. The card stock is 3" x5-1/4". I stamped the image using the Stamparatus, which allowed my to stamp twice, reinking in between, to get a nice bold check image. I had tons of scrap pieces of that wood patterned DSP laying around and this was the perfect opportunity to use some of it. I cut it into a 1"x 5-1/4" strip and adhered it, along with the stamped Buffalo check card stock to a Crumb Cake card stock base.

The die-cut sentiment is cut from Mossy Meadow card stock using the Merry Christmas Thinlits. I used the coordinating Merry Christmas to All stamp set to stamp the rest of the greeting in black ink on Very Vanilla card stock. The pine boughs were die-cut from Old Olive card stock using the Christmas Staircase Framelits. I added a True Gentleman button and some Mossy Meadow cotton twine to complete the flannel-shirt vibe.

On the inside I added a panel of Very Vanilla card stock on which I stamped a sentiment from the Timeless Tidings stamp set in black ink and some pine boughs and berries from the Mistletoe Season stamp set using Mossy Meadow and Real Red ink respectively.

We'll be making this at my Early Bird Christmas Card Buffet this Friday evening. If you're local to Cambridge and would like to join us, let me know and I will save you a seat!

Have a great week :)

An Elite Golden Weekend

Happy Monday! Isn't this month just flying by? I can't believe we're already into the third week of the school year! This has been such a busy couple of weeks with our reno finishing up, carpet installation done and the grand reopening of my studio this past weekend! I am SOOOO happy to be back to holding classes in my newly renovated and expanded space! Also, this past Friday, I had HUGE news when I learned that I have promoted to the title Gold Elite. This is my second promotion this year and a level I never, ever dreamed I'd reach. I am so very grateful for my wonderful team and stamping friends. It has been quite a year for me!
Today I want to share a golden card inspired by the inimitable Mary Fish...

I used several items from the new Holiday Catalogue on this card...can you spot them all?

I began with one of the gold foil edged cards as my base. I then embossed a Whisper White card stock panel using the Softly Falling TIEF. The tree is actually two die-cuts from the In the Woods framelits that I layered on top of each other.  The deer are from the Dashing Deer stamp set, heat embossed in gold, and die-cut using the Detailed Deer thinlits.

The sentiment is from the Winter Woods stamp set and is also heat embossed in gold. I used the Everyday Label punch to punch it out and then popped it up with dimensionals. The only embellishments are some gold metallic pearl ornaments on the tree and a bit of gold metallic thread behind the sentiment.

On the inside I added a sentiment from the Dashing Deer set and a little pinecone from Winter Woods. Both are stamped in Soft Suede ink.

I have to say, these foil edged cards make creating elegant cards a breeze! Be sure to check them out on page 11 of the catalogue.

That's it from me for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

The Holiday Catalogue is HERE!

Happy Monday! I managed to survive my first week back to school, but it sure was a long one! Then this weekend I packed up my entire studio so that the carpet installers could put in new carpet this week...talk about a busy weekend! I will be SO glad when this reno is finally done. Almost there!

In case you missed the news, the Holiday Catalogue is now live for ordering. One of my favourite suites in the catalogue is First Frost. While this one didn't originally grab my attention, man, am I LOVING it! I'll be featuring projects using it all week on my Facebook page and Instagram, so be sure to follow along. Today I have a gorgeous Christmas card I designed using this suite...

I started with the beautiful pearlized Fancy Frost DSP. It is simply stunning! I adhered a Gray Granite pattern on a card base of the same colour for a monochromatic look. Then I stamped several of the images from the First Frost stamp set using Merry Merlot and Tranquil Tide inks. I die cut the stamped images as well as some additional shapes, using the Frosted Bouquet Framelits. I arranged my bouquet on a pearlized doily, adding some Tranquil Tide velour ribbon to anchor it all on the front of my card.

For some added shimmer, I used Wink of Stella on the flowers, making them shimmer and shine. The sentiment is from the Timeless Tidings stamp set and is stamped in Gray Granite ink. I used my Decorative Label punch to shape the ends of the sentiment strip. The only embellishments I added were a few little Artisan Pearls.

On the inside I added a panel of Whisper White card stock on which I stamped another sentiment from the Timeless Tidings stamp set as well as more floral images from the First Frost set using Tranquil Tide, Merry Merlot and Gray Granite inks.

I am sooo in love with this card...it shimmers and sparkles like a Christmas card should!

Thanks for stopping by today...have a great week!
