Something Old and Something New

Hello!! Happy New Year. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones. Ours was perfection...a quiet Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with just the three of us hanging out in our jammies, watching movies and playing games. Then Boxing Day our extended family arrived and chaos ensued. So much fun!
Yesterday I finally had time to head down to my studio to clean up the Christmas mess and start fresh with lots of new goodies from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue. I worked on planning my winter classes and clubs...so many ideas and not enough time! One club that I am super-excited about is my new Stampin' Blends Club. This is one of the projects I designed for January's class...

This month, club members will recieve the Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive sets as well as the Colour Lifter. We're focusing on one of my favourite stamp sets for colouring: Remarkable You. The images in this set are perfect for learning to use the Blends because the have nice, thick bold lines which make it easier to colour and blend beautifully. Now, can you spot the new products I used on this card?

The embossed background is done using a gorgeous new set of embossing folders called Petal Pair. It is easy to miss on page 23 as part of the Petal Passion Suite. I also used some embellishments from that suite: the 1/4" Organza Ribbon (soooo soft and pretty!) and the Ptal Passion Embellishments. Here's a closer look at the ribbon and little metallic sprig of leaves.

You'll notice I omitted a sentiment for the front of this card, as I wanted that gorgeous bloom to do all the talking. Here is a look at the inside:

I kept it super-simple, stamping the sentiment from the Remarkable You set in Basic Black ink on a Whisper White card stock panel.

My Sunday Stamps Swan Song

Happy Sunday! Can you believe one week from today is Christmas Eve?? Where has the time gone?

It's hard to believe that I have been part of the Sunday Stamps Design Team for two and a half years already! When I first signed on it was supposed to be for just one year, but that has quickly turned into much more. I have truly loved being part of the Design Team and being stretched and inspired with each new challenge; however, like all good things, this too must come to an end. Life is just too crazy right now and I find myself with too much to do and not enough time in which to do it. I am missing out on the important things like time with my family and I need to make changes. One of those changes is resigning from the Design Team. As difficult as it is, I know it is the right decision for me right now. The door has been left open for a return if and when things settle down for me and I am truly grateful for that. In the meantime, I will continue to create and share what I love!

Now for this week's Sunday Stamps sketch challenge:

Here is my last project for the Design Team...

I think the Year of Cheer Suite has been my most-used selection of products from this year's Holiday Catalogue. I just can't seem to get enough of those beautiful mixed-metallic patterns! When I saw Teresa's sketch I immediately knew what I wanted to do with it. (I think I may be addicted to those foil snowflakes!)

I used two different patterns from the Year of Cheer specialty DSP pack...I just love the way they all work together. My focal image features the large snowflake and the swirly circle images from the Cheers to the Year stamp set. I heat embossed the former in silver and the latter in gold.

I used the 2" circle punch to punch out the embossed images and then layered them on a silver foil 2-1/4" circle before mounting them in the centre of the gold foil snowflake. The sentiment is from the Christmas Pines stamp set and is heat embossed in gold. The only embellishments on this card are some gold and silver sequins.

On the inside I added a 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White panel on which I stamped the large snowflake image again using Soft Suede ink and another sentiment from the Christmas Pines stamp set in Smokey Slate ink. The card is built on a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Smokey Slate card stock base.

I hope you'll give this challenge a go. I am making it my mission to visit and comment on every single entry on this final challenge, so show me what you've got! Have a super Sunday!

'Tis the Season...

...for gifts and fun packaging! Today I have a cute little treat box I designed using a new sneak peek from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue and some retiring Holiday Catalogue favourites.

Can you spot the new item? It is the silver gable box! These are simply fabulous and will be available January 3rd in the Occasions Catalogue. I couldn't resist decorating it using some of my favourite retiring products from the Cheer all Year Suite. I used a 2" x 12" strip of Year of Cheer DSP to wrap around the box and then added some silver 1/4" metallic ribbon. The sentiment is from the Oh What Fun stamp set and is heat embossed in silver. I used the 2" circle to punch it out and then layered it on a silver foil 2-1/4" circle. That all got layered on a gold foil snowflake. How I am going to miss those pretty snowflakes!

I decorated the top of the box with two green mini sprigs to which I added "snow" by dipping them in my tub of embossing paste. I hot glued them together, adding a silver mini ornamet and a silver metallic 1/8" ribbon bow. The best part is the box can totally be opened without destroying the decoration...gotta love that!

How cute would these be as favours for a winter wedding?? Image the couple's initials in place of the sentiment and voila...quick and easy favours. Don't forget that all retiring items are available while supplies last only, so don't wait to pick up those items you have to have.

I hope your Christmas preparations are going well. I still have a ways to go, as I am in the midst of concert season with my band at school. Looking forward to the end of this week when things wrap up and I can focus on getting ready for Christmas with my family! Have a fabulous week!
