Daisy Love

Happy Tuesday! I am happy to report that my Big Birthday Weekend of Awesomeness was...well...awesome! The U2 concert was spectacular and I had a great visit with my parents. I treated myself to some retail therapy and had a fabulous dinner with my sweetie. All in all, a wonderful way to celebrate.

Now for some stamping. Today's card is another one I designed for my upcoming Daisy Delight bundle class. It uses some of the stamps from the set that are often overlooked...

I CASE'd the layout for this card from Amy Koenders...a fellow Sunday Stamps Design Team member. My color palette includes Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight and Pool Party all of the images are stamped off once, with the exception of the detailed layer on the Calypso Coral flowers.

The background DSP is from the Delightful Daisy pack. I used Sahara Sand as a neutral base with this soft colour palette. The sentiment is from the Special Celebrations stamp set, a new one that is fast-becoming a favourite!. I die-cut the sentiment using the Stitched Shapes framelits. The only embellishments are some Pool Party solid baker's twine, a little bit of a Delicate White Daisy and a teensy tiny little wooden heart from the Hearts and Stars Elements.

On the inside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the matching sentiment from the Special Celebrations set in Sahara Sand ink and another flower in Calypso Coral.

I love that the Delightful Daisy stamp set has so many beatiful images beyond the large daisy. It makes it that much more versatile!

My Big Birthday Weekend of Awesomeness!

Welcome to my big birthday weekend of awesomeness! My birthday is on Sunday and, since my big day just happens to fall on a weekend, we've decided to make it a weekend-long celebration. It all begins tonight with tickets to see U2!!!!  I am soooo excited to see Bono and the boys...it was so good of them to plan a stop on their tour schedule in time for my birthday :)

The fun continues as I have some retail therapy planned for tomorrow, along with my summer pedi...nothing like a little pampering to make a girl feel special, right? Sunday, my actual birthday will be dinner with my sweetie and sending my sweet boy off to Grammy & Grampy's for his annual summer kick-off. Today is his last day of grade FOUR!!

Now for a sweet birthday card to inspire you. This is one that I designed for my upcoming Daisy Delight bundle class in July.

 I have a HUGE clump of rudbeckia growing in my garden. I love their late-summer colour...they just make me happy. I tried to recreate some on this card and love the way they turned out. Isn't that background awesome? I used the new Burlap background stamp on Crumb Cake card stock using ink of the same shade. the texture it adds is fantastic! To create my rudbeckia, I sponged Crushed Curry and Peekaboo Peach ink on Daffodil Delight card stock and then stamped the daisy image over top in Crushed Curry ink. I punched the stamped images using the Daisy punch and layered them. The centres are Early Espresso card stock, stamped in Early Espresso ink and punched with the 1/2" circle punch. The stem and leaves are Pear Pizzazz card stock.

 The sentiment is from the Special Celebrations stamp set and is stamped in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I punched it using the Pretty Label punch and added some copper metallic thread and a 1/4" copper trim bow.

 On the inside I added a panel of Very Vanilla card stock on which I stamped another sentiment from the Special Celebrations stamp set as well as more daisy images from the Daisy Delight stamp set.

Daisy Congrats for SS

Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a fantastic weekend! Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps...

Here is my take on it using several products from the new Annual Catalogue:

Don't you just love Gerbera Daisies?? I have been wanting to create one since I first laid my hands on the new Daisy Punch, so when I saw the circular element on this week's sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do.
I began with a piece of Lemon Lime Twist card stock that I embossed using the Petal Burst TIEF. I added a strip of Fresh Florals DSP along the bottom edge, rounding the top corners of both the card stock and the DSP. To create my daisy I stamped three daisies from the Daisy Delight stamp set on Melon Mambo card stock using ink of the same shade and then punched them out using the Daisy punch. I curled the petals slightly with my bone folder before layering the punched daisies, off-setting each layer from the previous one. For the centre I stamped one of the circular images from the stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist on card stock of the same colour and punched it out using the 1/2" circle punch. I adhered the daisy to the cardfront using dimensionals so as to allow those petals to curl under.

The sentiment on the front of the card is from the Colourful Seasons stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black ink and punched with the Classic Label punch. The only embellishments are some Basic Black solid baker's twine and a few of the new Glitter Enamel Dots.

On the inside of the card I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped another sentiment from the Colourful Seasons stamp set as well as another Melon Mambo daisy.
