A Double-embossed Easter

Happy Sunday, everyone!  I hope the sun is shining as brightly where you are as it is here this Sunday morning.  Now if only the temperature would warm up, it would really feeling like  Spring!
This morning I have a cute little Easter card I did with my monthly techniques  class last week.  It uses the Double Embossing technique...see what you think:

Cute Easter note card featuring the Everybunny stamp set with sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes
I just love the Everybunny stamp set!  The images are so sweet and such fun to colour!  On this card I just used my markers to colour the image and then my Aquapainter to watercolour the grass.  It was quick and easy to do.  The other element that makes this card stand out is the double embossed panel.  To create it I used my Argyle TIEF, which I covered in Versamark before inserting the piece of DSP.  I ran the folder through my Big Shot.  I removed the DSP and then sprinkled Melon Mambo embossing powder all over it, shaking off the excess.  I heated the powder until it was shiny.  The result is very cool...double embossed DSP!  Try this technique on your next project...you will be amazed at the textural interest it will add to your design!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!  I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful day with friends and family...and lots of chocolate!  We have had the PERFECT Easter weekend around here!  Before I tell you all about that, let me show you some cute little treat holders I put together for Max's pre-school Easter party last week...

Easter treat holders using receycled embellishment containers (I have about a million of those!) and featuring the Everybunny stamp set.
I have been looking for a way to use up some of the millions of empty embellishment containers I have kicking around my craft room.  This little project was the perfect solution!  Since I had to make 12 of them, I kept them pretty simple.  They were a hit with the pre-school crowd!

Now on to the rest of the weekend.  Yesterday was Max's Angry Birds birthday party...what a hoot that was!  I mentioned on Friday that I had made most of the decorations for the party, as there really isn't much out there to buy.  Here are some photos of the various projects...

Loot bags and party hats

Close up of Yellow bird (Max's fav)

...and a King Pig (my fav)

Balloons
Fun, huh?  All of the above were made using a free PDF of the faces I found online HERE.  I just printed them off in varying sizes for the different items (full page for the balloons, quarter page for the bags and hats).  I used Stampin' Up Big Shot Multi-purpose adhsive sheets to adhere the faces...made it really easy and those bird parts STAYED PUT!  The best part of all of it is that because the characters all use basic primary colours, I was able to purchase all of the supplies at our local dollar store!  Yippee...saved a ton of money there!
Now the cake, on the other hand, was anything BUT easy!  It took me two weekends to make...last weekend I made all the little characters out of almond paste (marzipan) and then this weekend I put it all together.  Here are some photos of what took hours to create and mere seconds to destroy...

Angry Birds Cake...my version!

The piggies...

...and the birds.  (no, those aren't hotdogs on the cake...they're almond paste logs!)

All the kids loved the decorations and had fun at the party.  I can't say enough about Playfit Kids Club, here in Cambridge.  They are great to work with and it is the easiest, no muss, no fuss party ever!  My final photo is of the birthday boy...my sweet, FIVE-YEAR-OLD Maxwell...

Happy birthday Maxwell!

Easter Smooches

Today's project features more product from the new Summer Smooches promotion.  I designed this cute little treat holder for my Big Shot Club, which met last week.  This month we were focusing on the XL dies, particularly the boxes and ways to make already great products do even more.  I showed my club members how to extend the treat die to more than double the size...just right for holding a full-sized chocolate bar...or a whole lot of mini chocolate eggs!

Bright and sunny Easter treat using the Treat Wrapper die, the Everybunny stamp set and Summer Smooches DSP and fabric brad.

So...wondering how to make this little treat wrapper into a big one?  I'm working on a tutorial for this...stay tuned!  Hopefully I'll have it for you by this weekend.  In the meantime, have a great week...I'll be back with more Smooches tomorrow!

Some Easter cuteness...

Here's another bit of inspiration for you while I'm traipsing around Europe.  When I saw this card design by Lori Heilig on our demonstrator forum I knew I just had to recreate it for one of my monthly clubs.  This month's theme was punch art and this little bunny was just too cute to pass up!

Easter card featuring the wood grain background stamp and sentiment from the Everybunny set.

Inside view
Cute, huh?  My club members LOVED it!  The only part they didn't love so much was all the sponging they had to do to give the bunny dimension...but the end result was SO worth the effort.  Here is a rundown of the various punches I used:
Front:
Body - 1 3/4" circle
Feet - Large Oval (white), retired Small Oval (pink pirouette)
Tail - Boho Blossoms, Itty Bitty flower
Inside:
Head - Ornament, trimmed
Cheeks - 1/2" circle
Nose - heart from owl builder
Eyes - smallest circle from owl builder

To construct the card, stamp the woodgrain on a crumb cake card base using soft suede ink.  Punch a hole in the card front using the 1 3/4" circle.  Sponge all white punched shapes in sahara sand and the pink ones in pretty in pink.  Assemble the front first and then the inside.  Draw on toes, whiskers and eyebrows using a basic grey maker.  The sentiment is stamped in lucky limeade and punched out with the large oval and then layered on a modern label in the same green.  SO cute!

Spring Card Buffet Preview #3

With Easter just a month away I thought it suitable to offer an Easter card as part of my buffet line-up.  I fell in love with the Everybunny stamp set when I first saw it in the catalogue last July, but waited to purchase it until closer to the Easter season.  I inked it up for the first time when I designed this card...

Cute card suitable for Easter or a new baby featuring the Everybunny stamp set.
I just love that little bunny...isn't he the sweetest?  The best part is that he's just-hatched, so he'll not only work for Easter but also to welcome a new baby.  Although the image was begging to be watercoloured, I reminded myself that this design needed to be one that could be put together quickly and easily and so I just coloured the bunny's little scarf and added a bit of pink to his nose and ears with my markers.  You can bet I'll be using this image again this Easter!
Guests at the Card Buffet will be able to customize their cards, so if someone would rather this be a welcome baby card they can easily switch out the sentiments to meet their needs.  For more details about this upcoming class please visit my website.
