You Mean the World

Do you have someone in your life who you can't imagine living without? I hope so, because they are the people who make our journey through this world worth it. The events of the past few weeks have reminded me just how important it is to have close relationships.
Today's project is one that was designed with men in mind, but could really be sent to just about anyone.

The heavy lifting on this card is done by the beautiful World Traveler TIEF (retiring!) and lots of layering of colour. I began with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock which I ran through the Big Shot with the World Traveler TIEF that had been inked with Lost Lagoon (retiring In Colour!) ink. Then I sponged the continents with Crumb Cake ink all over. I added Soft Suede ink along the edges of each continent and lightly sponged the Lost Lagoon sections too. Using a dauber, I then lightly sponged the lines of latitude and longitude, as well as the edges of the continents using Versamark ink. I heat embossed in gold.  To distress it a little, I tore the top and bottom edges of the embossed panel, sponging the torn edges with Soft Suede ink and then dipping them in gold embossing powder and heating them. I adhered the completed panel to a card base of Kraft card stock.

The sentiment is from the Going Global stamp set (also retiring!) and is heat embossed in gold and then punched using the Washi Label punch (also retiring!!). I adhered it to the front of the card along with some gold baker's twine (also retiring).

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla panel on which I stamped the globe from the Going Global set in Crumb Cake (stamped off once). I heat embossed in gold the sentiment from the Sky is the Limit (retired SAB) stamp set.

As you can see, I used a ton of retiring products on this card. So many fantastic items that soon will be gone for good. Don't miss the chance to pick them up before it is too late!

World's Best Dad

Happy Monday...can you believe it's here already?? I don't know where the weekend went...not sure I'm ready to face another week yet.
 Today is the day the retiring product lists post. This list includes all products from the Occasions and Annual Catalogues that will retire at the end of the catalogue sales period (or when supplies run out!). Be sure to check it out after 1:00 pm (MT) and pick up those items that are still on your wishlist before they are gone for good!

Today I also have a man-card I designed for my upcoming Occasions Card Buffet this weekend using the Going Global Suite of products from the Occasions catalogue.

I have to say that Island Indigo and gold are one of my favourite colour combos right now. Here I began with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that I embossed using the World Traveler TIEF. I layered it on a Basic Black mat and then adhered it to an Island Indigo card base. I added a strip of Island Indigo card stock, which I had die-cut on one end using the Lots of Labels framelits. I stamped the strip using Island Indigo ink and the Big Dipper image from the Going Global stamp set. I also sponged the edges of the strip in Island Indigo ink and stamped the spatter image from Gorgeous Grunge in gold metallic Encore (retired) ink.

I added some gold metallic glitter tape (leftover from Sale-a-bration) and a strip of Going Global DSP to the Indigo strip. The globe is stamped in Basic Black ink on Crumb Cake card stock, punched with the 2" circle and then layered on a 2-1/2" gold foil circle. The sentiment, from the Going Global set,  is stamped in Basic Black ink. I added some little gold glimmer stars punched using the Itty Bitty Accents and Confetti Stars punches.

On the inside I stamped the globe again in Island Indigo ink, stamping off once before stamping on the Very Vanilla card stock. I added the sentiment, which is also in the Going Global set, in Basic Black ink.

Lost Without You

Well, I don't know about where you live, but our local groundhog saw his shadow yesterday, so I guess we're in for a few more weeks of winter. Booo!!
Today, in honour of the month of love I have a sweet card for your sweetie...check it out:

Masculine valentine featuring the Going Global stamp set and Going Places DSP stack.

This design is one that we'll be making at my Going Places Suite class this coming Friday. I started with a Whisper White panel on which I heat embossed the constellation images from the Going Global stamp set in gold. Over that I layered a circle of Going Places DSP on which I had heat embossed the compass image from the Going Global set. The sentiment banner is stamped in Basic Black ink and trimmed into a banner using the Banner punch. I layered it on a piece of gold 5/8" satin ribbon...I LOVE that stuff for masculine cards!

The die-cut 'you' is cut from gold glimmer paper using the Hello You Thinlits. To add even more gold sparkle, I added some gold metallic thread and a few gold sequins. I framed the panel with a narrow Basic Black mat and then mounted it on a thick Whisper White card base.

On the inside, I once again heat embossed the constellation image in gold. Stamped another of the sentiments from the Going Global set in Basic Black, punched it using the 1" circle punch and layered it on a 1-1/2" gold glimmer circle. An easy-peasy Valentine's man-card!

Global Birthday

Happy Friday! The weekend is almost here...woohoo! I hope you've got some fun plans lined up. I did, but the big snow storm in the Washington D.C. area put an end to those :( I was supposed to fly down to spend some quality girl time with a dear friend, but decided to stay in the great not-so-white North so as not to get snowed in. I'm soooo disappointed! I'll just have to spend some quality time with ink and rubber instead!
Today I have another project I designed for my upcoming Birthday Card Blitz buffet next week...

Birthday Man-card featuring products from the Going Places Suite in the Occasions Catalogue.

My inspiration for this card came from one I saw on Pinterest by Cathy Casey. I began with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock which I embossed with the World Traveller TIEF and layered on a slightly larger piece of Lost Lagoon card stock. I used a strip from the Going Places DSP Stack for my banner and then added the various circle elements. The globe is from the Going Global stamp set and is heat embossed in white on vellum and punched using the 2-1/2" circle punch. The compass, also from the Going Global set, is heat embossed in gold and punched using the 2" circle punch. I used the Starburst Framelits (retired) to die cut the Delightful Dijon circle, which I also sponged using ink of the same colour.

The sentiment is from the Sky is the Limit Sale-a-bration set. I stamped it in Lost Lagoon ink, punched it with the 1-3/4" circle punch and then layered it on a 2" gold foil circle. The only embellishments are a little gold button tied with some linen thread and a few little gold glimmer stars I punched with the Confetti Stars punch. The card is built on a Sahara Sand card base.

On the inside, I stamped the globe in Lost Lagoon ink, stamped off once. The sentiment is also from the Going Global set and is stamped in Delightful Dijon ink.

Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a good weekend! Mine has been fabulous! I hosted my Occasions Catalogue/Sale-a-bration Launch and Customer Appreciation Open House yesterday and had such fun! Scroll to the bottom of this post for the winners of my Door Prize draws.

Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge from Sunday Stamps...

Here is my take on it:

Any-occasion masculine card featuring the Sky is the Limit Sale-a-braion set.

I opted for a slightly creative take on the sketch, using the mountains in the DSP to create the shaped edge on the lower section. To achieve that look I simply trimmed along one of the rows of mountains in the pattern with my paper snips. I layered that on a piece of Perfectly Artistic DSP, which is one of the limited-time Sale-a-bration items. I love the way it looks like sky with wispy white clouds. The plane is stamped in Basic Black ink on Whisper White card stock and then lightly sponged with Crumb Cake ink. I fussy-cut it out and then added the propeller, which I die-cut from vellum with the Flower Fair Framelits. I fastened the propeller to the plane using a silver mini brad.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Black on Very Vanilla card stock. I trimmed one end into a banner, curled it slightly with my bone folder and then adhered it to the card with dimensionals. I added some silver metallic baker's twine, which I adhered to the end of the plane and the banner so that it would look like the plane was towing the banner. I matted the whole thing on Basic Black card stock before adhering it to a Sahara Sand card base.

On the inside I stamped the globe image from the Going Global stamp set in Sahara Sand ink. I stamped the heart from the same set in Basic Black ink on a scrap of leftover Perfectly Artistic DSP and then punched it with the Sweetheart punch, which fits perfectly...you'd think Stampin' Up! planned that ;) I adhered the punched heart over the stamped globe using dimensionals.
