Simply Amazing Brusho Love

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. We had crazy snow and freezing rain here. Almost a foot of snow and then ice on top...not much traveling happened around here this weekend, which meant I got to stay home and make Valentines! More on those later. First I want to show you one of the projects I designed for my upcoming Brush up on Brusho class...

Can I just say how much I love those magical crystals of colour?? To create this card I applied Shimmery White embossing paste using the Pattern Party Decorative Masks. Then, with the mask still in place, I sprinkled on some Gamboge Brusho crystals. I ran my palette knife over the stencil again to spread the crystals and magic happened! Here is a closer look:

It is sooooo sparkly and pretty! I absolutely LOVE this look! Of course, I loved it so much I didn't want to cover it so I kept the design super simple, adding just the die-cut sentiment and dragonfly as well as some stamped and fussy-cut words. With all that sparkle the only embellishment required was a few gold sequins.

On the inside I stamped a border image from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink. Super simple, but oh, so pretty!

Be sure to check in tomorrow for some last-minute Valentine's inspiration. In the meantime, have a great week!

Live with Passion

Wow! What a busy weekend! I had my quarterly team training day with my Tri-City Stampers friends on Saturday. I absolutely adore each and every one of those women and it is always good to spend time together. We had some fun creating Christmas cards...yup...Christmas in July! More on those later this week.
Today I have the final project for my Tools for Girls: Embossing Paste 101 class which happens tomorrow evening. This is my favourite of the bunch!

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE the colour Lemon Lime Twist?? It is the perfect party colour and pairs well with so many of my favourite shades. Here I mixed up two different shades of embossing paste: Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist and applied them against Basic Black card stock. I love the way the colours pop!

To create the dragonfly I first stamped the image from the Dragonfly Dreams set in Basic Black and then stamped the wings, inking my stamp with Lemon Lime Twist first and then applying Bermuda Bay ink with a sponge dauber. I die-cut it using the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits and then cut another gold foil dragonfly to layer over top. To create the leaves I watercoloured a scrap of watercolour paper using Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay ink with an aquapainter. Once the paper was dry, I die-cut the leaves using the Eclectic Layers Thinlits. The sentiment is from the Beautiful You stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black ink and punched out using the Pretty Label punch. I matted the punched label with gold foil.

The only embellishments on this card are some gold metallic enamel dots and a bit of gold metallic thread.

On the inside I added a panel of Whisper White card stock on which I stamped one of the sentiments from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Basic Black. I added the background image from the same stamp set, once again inking the stamp with Lemon Lime Twist and then adding Bermuda Bay ink with a sponge dauber.

It's not too late to register for Monday's class. Drop me a quick email to let me know you're coming before Noon on Monday and I'll save you a seat!

Dragonfly Sympathy

I don't know about you, but I really hate making sympathy cards. They always mean someone I care about is hurting, which makes my heart hurt too. That's why I always try to have a few pre-made so that I don't have to associate the sadness of loss with the craft that I love. Today I have a sympathy card I designed for my recent card buffet...

I used some of the gorgeous Inside the Lines Sale-a-bration DSP for the background. That stuff is SO versatile, whether I take the time to colour it or simply use it as a fabulous neutral background. Here I stamped part of the DSP using some of the spatter stamp images from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Rich Razzleberry ink. I also heat embossed some spatters in silver to add texture and shine.

The dragonflly is die-cut from Basic Black card stock using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. I added some silver texture by inking parts of the die-cut with Versamark and heat embossing in silver. I layered the detailed dragonfly on solid vellum dragonfly to give the wings more substance.
The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black ink. The only embellishment on the front of the card is some black metallic thread.

On the inside of the card I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the sentiment from the Better Together stamp set and a dragonfly from the Dragonfly Dreams set, both in Basic Black.

This simple sympathy card is perfect to have on-hand for when the need arises. If you haven't already done so, be sure to pick up a pack of the Inside the Lines DSP for FREE with a $60 order before Friday, March 31st, or it will be gone forever!
