Happy Tuesday! I hope you are having a good week. Here, we are back to hybrid teaching this week (half the class in school, half online from home) and it feels a little like September again as we settle back into routines. I have to say, there is going to be one VERY LARGE bottle of wine consumed on the last day of school in June after this crazy year!
I don't know about you, but I am SO over the cold and drabness of winter. My heart yearns for warm sunshine and colourful flowers. Since it is still frigid here in southern Ontario, I have to make my own sunshine and that is exactly what I've been doing all week! I pulled out the In Bloom bundle and have been creating beautiful paper flowers which will have to suffice until the real thing comes along in a few months. Check out this fun fold card I made...
I used several patterns from the Paper Blooms Sale-a-bration Designer Paper (which coordinates PERFECTLY with this bundle!), along with a little Oh So Ombre DSP, to create this accordian-fold card. I used Night of Navy card stock for the base, which provides the perfect neutral backdrop for all of those beautiful patterns and colours. The belly band slides off and the card opens out to reveal more DSP and another sentiment with room to write a greeting.
I used the Pierced Blooms Dies to die-cut the flowers and leaves I used to decorate the belly band. I actually cut them from the large polka dot patterned sheet in the Paper Blooms DSP pack. I love the soft water-coloured look that results! And can we just take a moment to admire the detail in those die-cut flowers! The pierced-look happens with just a single pass through the machine...so easy and so very pretty! An added bonus in this set of dies is the cute label, which I used for my sentiment. Here's a closer look...
This fun fold is surprisingly easy to make, yet provides a real WOW and an opportunity to showcase your favourite DSP patterns. Check out my video tutorial below.
Thanks so much for stopping by this week. Make it a great one!
Happy Tuesday...and happy Groundhog Day! (Let's be honest, much of the past year has felt a little like Groundhog Day, hasn't it?) I hope you are having a good week. Here it is COLD, so lots of indoor time, cozy sweaters and time in the studio for me! It's also bright and sunny, so I'm guessing that ol' groundhog is gonna be predicting another 6 weeks of winter! Good thing I have lots of new products to play with!
Today marks the launch of some NEW products and the return of some old friends. Do you remember the Hey Chick stamp set from Sale-a-bration a few years ago? It was our most popular set that year and with good reason...those little chickens were SO cute! You may have noticed those same characters are back in the new January-June Mini catalogue in the Hey Birthday Chick stamp set and, in an unprecedented move, Stampin' Up! has also brought back the original Hey Chick set along with ADORABLE coordinating dies for BOTH sets! Check these out...
Hey Chick Bundle (Item #158627)
Hey Birthday Chick Bundle (Item #158631)
I have been having great fun playing with these two adorable bundles...so many fun possibilities! Check out this cute birthday card...
I used some Flower & Field Sale-a-bration DSP as my inspiration for this one. I stamped my adorable little chicken in Memento black ink and then coloured her hair and tail feathers using Fliry Flamingo and Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends. Those two colours are SO perfect together! I added used Dark Mango Melody fo the feet, beak and flame on the candle and Granny Apple Green for the cupcake wrapper and candle. Here's a closer look...
The polka dotted circle is die-cut from the True Love DSP pack and then lightly coloured with a Blending Brush using Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade inks. This is such an easy way to highlight a focal image on a design! I added a sentiment from the Hey Birthday Chick set, stamped in black, as well as some Snail Mail baker's twine.
On the inside of my Poppy Parade card base, I added a Basic White panel on which I stamped my favourite sentiment from the Hey Birthday Chick set as well as the adorable little chick. I coloured the chick using Light So Saffron Blends.
I demonstrated this card from start to finish, along with two other adorable projects in the video below:

Now for today's project...check out this cuteness...
Now, at first glance this suite may appear to be kid-focused, but I'm here to tell you it is perfect for just about anyone. I mean seriously, who wouldn't love to receive this fun card in the mail??
I challenged myself to use several different patterns from the Designer Paper pack...I love how well they all work together. My adorable little gift-bearing snail is stamped in Basic Gray ink and then coloured with Light Flirty Flamingo, Light Bermuda Bay, Light Real Red, Dark Daffodil Delight and Dark Pool Party Stampin' Blends. I used the coordinating Snail Dies to cut him out and then popped him up on a die-cut postage stamp from the same die set.
To stamp my sentiment, I used Real Red and Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write markers so that I could highlight the word SNAILED...I love puns! I added some white baker's twine and itty bitty resin hearts to embellish and step up the cuteness factor just a little.
On the inside, I added a Basic White card stock panel and adhered some adorable little snail friends that I fussy-cut from the DSP. So, so cute!!
I demonstrated this card and two others using this suite in my weekly live video over on my Facebook Business page. You can catch the replay, posted on my YouTube channel, below:
