Shine Bright

Hello Monday...and hello December! It sure feels wintry here...we had an ice storm and then snow yesterday, so everything looks like a winter wonderland around here! We stayed put most of the weekend and got our home ready for Christmas. I absolutely love this time of year. As I type this, the fire is crackling and our two kitties are parked under the tree.

I also had some time to stamp this weekend and wouldn't you know, I fell in love with yet another bundle from the Holiday Catalogue?! The Shine Bright Bundle is sooooo pretty!

Those dies are simply stunning! The intricate detail on each one is such a wow! Check out this pretty card I made...

Isn't that die-cut background beautiful?? It is so easy to do with the Stitched Brightly dies...just one pass through the die-cutting machine for a total WOW. Here I used Pool Party card stock and mounted it against a Smokey Slate card base. The stitched detail really pops. Along the top of the background panel, I stamped some teeny stars from the So Many Stars stamp set using metallic silver ink. It looks like spatters in the photo, but they are actually little bitty stars.

The sentiment is from the Shine Bright stamp set and is heat embossed in silver. The star image is stamped in Pool Party ink. I die-cut the circle using the Stitched Shapes dies. I layered the sentiment on a silver foil scalloped circle.

The only embellishments here are some silver metallic pearls and some white/silver satin ribbon.

On the inside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the star again in Pool Party ink (stamped off once this time) and a sentiment from the Merry Christmas to All stamp set from the Annual Catalogue in Smokey Slate ink.

I'll be demonstrating this card, along with two others in this week's Tuesday Live @ Five video. I hope you'll join me for the live broadcast over on my Facebook page, but if you miss it you can catch the replay on my YouTube channel later in the week.

Thanks so much for stopping by this week. I hope you have a spectacular one!

Perfectly Plaid

Happy Monday! Did you miss me last week? I've been down and out with a nasty sinus cold and am just now getting back to normal. So much has happened since my last post! The day before I got sick, I attended Stampin' Up!'s OnStage event in Toronto...in fact, I didn't just attend, I spoke at it! I did a business presentation in front of 600+ people and lived to tell the tale! Right before I went on stage I literally thought I was going to faint...and then suddenly I was on the stage and the teacher in me took over. I got started and it was like I do this everyday...well, I kind of do...but not for 600 people! My class of 25 is more my style. ;) Here's a pic someone snapped of me during my presentation...

I really had such a great time and so enjoyed sharing my business tips with other demonstrators.

The night before I was able to attend CentreStage, as special evening for demonstrators who hold the title Silver Elite or higher. It was so much fun to attend with some wonderful friends from my team...

Of course, the best part of any Stampin' Up! event is the people I get to share it with. Several members of my Stamping Symphony team were able to make the trip to Toronto for the day on Saturday. I loved having so many of them there! (Check out the newest members of the Stamping Symphony...coming soon to a Sale-a-bration brochure near you!)

Now, how about a project? This week I am all about the Perfectly Plaid bundle from the Holiday Catalogue...

This has been one of my most-used bundles this season. I have A TON of projects to share with you this week, so be sure to follow me on Instagram and/or like my Facebook page so you don't miss a single one! Here is today's project...

I used the Gold Glitz Delicata metallic ink to stamp my trees and sentiment. That ink is FANTASTIC! So much so that it is already sold out :( I hope you were able to snag some before it went away. It is a great alternative to heat embossing for those who don't have the tools to do so, or who, like me, are in a hurry sometimes ;) Here's a closer look...

The DSP I used is from the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty DSP pack. I am SO addicted to that stuff! I'm not kidding when I say I have gone through at least 8 packs this season! I drew my color palette from the DSP, using Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce and Night of Navy card stock for my trees.  The gems are from the Holiday Rhinestones...I love that they all coordinate perfectly!

The Whisper White background panel is embossed using the Subtle embossing folder, thought it doesn't show up especially well in the photos. I used the Hammered Metal embossing folder for the gold foil circle behind the trees...so pretty!

I kept the inside really simple, just adding a Whisper White panel with a stamped sentiment from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set.

I'll be demonstrating this card and two others in this week's Live @ Five video over on Facebook. I hope you'll join me, but if you miss the live broadcast you can always catch the replay on my YouTube channel or the Video Tutorials tab at the top of this page later in the week.

Thanks so much for stopping by today...have a spectacular week!

Beautiful Merry Boughs and a Blog Hop

Happy Friday! Are you surprised to see me today? I normally don't post on Fridays, but today is the 15th of the month, which means it's time for our monthly Stamping Symphony blog hop!

This month we are all about Christmas...can you believe it's less than 6 weeks away?? Because I am featuring the Peaceful Boughs bundle this week, I thought I would show you just how beautiful the pine bough die-cuts are when used as embellishments on a card. Check this out...

Here, I created my own sparkly embellishments by heat embossing the Whisper White die-cut pine boughs using the Shimmery White embossing powder. I supposed I could have used glimmer paper, but I was out and this was an easy substitute. Here's a closer look...

Do you recognize the silver foil DSP in the background? It is from the Feels Like Frost pack! I sponged on Seaside Spray, BlueBerry Bushel and Night of Navy inks to get the ombre effect. I love it! The Whisper White panel in the background is embossed using the Stylish Scroll embossing folder...I sure hope that one carries over after this catalogue is done...I have used it a TON!

The sentiment die is from the Merry Christmas die set from the Annual Catalogue. I used the coordinating Merry Christmas To All stamp set for the stamped greeting, stamping it in Night of Navy ink on a scrap strip of Feels Like Frost DSP for a soft look.

I love using non-traditional colours on Christmas cards...how about you? Are you a red, white and green kinda stamper or do you tend toward more adventurous colour combinations for Christmas? Leave a comment below and let me know! Then be sure to hop on over to the next blog to see what Sandy has to share...

Thanks for stopping by...have a great weekend!
