Hump Day Humor

Happy Hump Day!  After today it is downhill to the weekend...woohoo! I thought we could all use a smile this mid-January morning...check out this card I made using a couple of stamp sets from the Annual Catalogue:

Cheeky birthday card featuring the No Bones About It stamp set
Now, there isn't much that's funny about the front of this card, aside from the T-Rex skeleton wearing a party hat...you have to open the card for the punchline:

Tee-hee :) This makes me chuckle, as I have several friends who would appreciate this card! The inside sentiments come from the Age Awareness and the Just Kidding stamp sets.  So fun!
To make this card I kept the colour scheme gender-neutral so that it could be given to just about anyone. I used the Lots of Labels Framelits to dies cut the Whisper White label that I stamped on as well as the DSP label. The DSP is from the 2015-17 In-Colour Backgrounds stack...I used Cucumber Crush...very dinosaurish, no? I stamped the skeleton in Basic Black ink and the shadow in Cucumber Crush. The little party hat is Crushed Curry for a pop of brightness. The sentiment is also stamped in Basic Black ink. The only embellishment is a bit of Basic Black baker's twine.

I'll be offering this card at my upcoming Birthday Blitz card buffet...I think everyone knows at least one person for whom this card would be perfect!

Have a great day :)

#Happybirthday

There are so many new products in the Occasions Catalogue that I love it is hard to choose just one.  Near the top of my list, however, is the Balloon Bash set.  Check out this project I designed for my upcoming Birthday Blitz Buffet using this week's colour challenge from PPA:

Birthday card featuring the new Balloon Bash stamp set.
I have to admit that I wasn't too sure about the colour combo of Night of Navy, Wisteria Wonder and Silver, but once I started working with it I really love it!  Who would have thought that they would work so well together??  I began by stamping the balloon images in Night of Navy and Wisteria Wonder ink and then heat embossed the centre one with silver embossing powder.  I added a couple of strips of All Is Calm Washi Tape and some Wisteria Wonder baker's twine.  I added some sliver glimmer stars for some sparkle.  The front panel is matted on Wisteria Wonder card stock and mounted on a Night of Navy card base.

The sentiment label is heat embossed in silver and die cut with the Chalk Talk framelits.  I layered it on a mat that I created using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch...love the way that works!  I just cut a piece of Night of Navy card stock to 2" x 3-1/4" and then punched both ends.  The label die cut label fits perfectly over top.

On the inside I stamped the ballon and sentiment from the Age Awareness set, which work so well with the ones in the Balloon Bash set.  I love it when new sets work well with ones I already have!

Birthday in the Stars

Are you tired of birthday cards yet?  Hope not!  We still have another day in my week-long Blog-a-versary celebration :)
Today I have another cheeky birthday card I made using the Age Awareness stamp set and the new Hearts and Stars Decorative Masks...

Birthday card featuring the Age Awareness stamp set and Hearts and Stars Decorative Masks.
Like the colour scheme?  I totally CASE'd it from the Annual Catalogue!  I was stumped for a fun, masculine colour combo, so I turned to pg. 50, which is where this stamp set is listed, and lo and behold, the perfect colour combo for my project!  Gotta love a little inspiration ;)

I used the stars mask to stencil the background using Crushed Curry, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive ink with sponge daubers.  I added some baker's twine and a couple of glimmer stars for embellishment, not wanting to bling it up too much, given that I wanted something appropriate for a birthday BOY.

The cool thing is that this colour combo could really work for anyone...gotta love versatility!

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the Age Awareness set and stencilled a couple more stars.

If you haven't already done so, be sure to check out Monday's post and leave a comment to be entered in my draw for some birthday loot!  Tomorrow is the last day, so don't miss out :)

Let's party all week!

A good friend of mine firmly believes in celebrating her birthday all week, which, quite frankly, I can't argue with!  So let's keep the Blog-aversary party going!  Be sure to visit and comment on Monday's post to be entered in my draw for awesome loot.  Now for another birthday card...

Cheeky birthday card featuring the Age Awareness stamp set.
I have to admit that this was the first stamp set on my wish list when I first saw the new Annual Catalogue.  It just makes me chuckle and at my age, I need a chuckle or two on my birthday!  The best part of this one is the inside...

Haha!  I can think of so many people this card would be perfect for...myself included!  It was super-easy to put this together thanks to some marvelous Wahsi tape.  I used patterns from several different packs.  The Bermuda Bay is from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Accessory kit.  The Tangerine Tango is from the Retro Fresh pack and the Crushed Curry is from the Beach House pack.  I love how quick and easy it was to lay down the strips of tape to create a fun, colourful patterned background for my sentiment.  The background Bermuda Bay card stock is embossed with the ZigZag TIEF and is adhered to a Basic Black card base.  I added button and some Baker's twine as well as a little glimmer arrow for fun.

If you love Washi tape as much as I do you're going to love the Holiday Catalogue.  There are several new packs available...one with FIVE rolls in it.  LOVE it!  My pre-order box arrived last evening and I can't wait to dig in and play!  Now if I could just find someone to entertain my 7-year-old for a few hours....

Now today is Tuesday which means its time for a new round of Weekly Deals...

Ninja Turtle Birthday

This past weekend my son was invited to a Ninja Turtle-themed birthday party.  Of course that meant that Mommy had to design an appropriate card for the birthday boy.  Here is what I came up with...

Ninja Turtle birthday card featuring the Alphabet Rotary stamp and the Age Awareness stamp set.

Best thing about this card?  I got to use some of my new toys from my first new catty order!  I used the Alphabet Rotary stamp for "Its Your..." and "Cowabunga" and the Age Awareness set for "Birthday".  I also used the Stars Framelits and the Triangles TIEF to do the inlaid embossing technique on the background.

To create Raphael (I'm told that's the correct name for "The Red Guy" as I typically call him) I used Ovals and Circles Framelits (though I can't tell you which ones because I forgot to write it down and, of course, I no longer have the card to check!) and some leftover Gumball Green Core'dinations card stock.  The tails on the mask are cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits (the curvy one).  The eyes and nostrils are from the Owl Builder punch and the mouth is done with the Large Oval punch.

Inside view with sentiments from the Endless Birthday Wishes and Alphabet rotary stamps.
On the inside I stamped a couple of stars from the recently-retired Simply Stars set (won't be getting rid of that one anytime soon!).  The "hope it's an..." is from the Endless Birthday Wishes set and "Awesome Day" is again stamped using the Alphabet Rotary stamp (such an awesome tool!!).
I guess Mommy done good...the card was a hit and my boy was happy :)  Once in a while, Mommy gets it right!
