In Good Taste

Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a good weekend...and to my US readers...a happy Memorial Day. Around here the weather went from cold and chilly spring to hot and steamy summer like someone flipped a switch. We have heat warnings up and the A/C on in the house! Gotta say, I'm not complaining...it has been far too cold and miserable for far too long for anyone to object to a little heat and sunshine.
Now before I get to this week's project, I want to remind you that my 2020/21 Annual Catalogue Designer Series Paper Share is now open for ordering.

Choose a share of just a few DSP packs or ALL of them at a fraction of the cost of full packs. Deadline to order in the first round is June 2nd. I will have shares ready to go by the 12th. Click the image above to learn more and/or place your order.

This week I am continuing with my showcase of new products from the upcoming 2020/21 Annual Catalogue with the utterly yummy In Good Taste Suite. Now, I think Stampin' Up! designed these products specifically for me...they are SO my style! With fabulous textural Designer Paper, fun wood embellishments, a stamp set with awesome images images and sentiments and my new favourite embossing folder, this suite will have pride of place in my studio for a long time to come. Check out this card I made...

I started with a piece of the gorgeous In Good Taste Designer Paper for my background panel. I stamped several images from the Tasteful Touches stamp set in Smokey Slate ink to add texture and frame my focal point. Don't forget that DSP is paper and it is totally OK to stamp on it!

I used my new, go-to, Tasteful Labels dies to die-cut the Whisper White label and then stamped a sentiment in Smoky Slate and one of the awesome texture stamps in Blushing Bride.  To create my flowers, I first stamped them in Basic Gray ink on Whisper White card stock and then sponged in Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose ink to colour them...using a dauber is a super-quick way to add colour to stamped images. After sponging the flowers, I fussy-cut them out using my paper snips. I die-cut one of the ferns from the Forever Flourishing set from Champagne Foil to add some additional interest. To create the silver leaves, I simply pressed two of the In Good Taste Elements into a Versamark pad, dipped in silver embossing powder and heated. Voila...instant metallic accent! This is super-easy to do and allows you to create metallic embellishments to perfectly coordinate with your project. The final touches on this design were some rhinestones and a spatter of Frost White Shimmer paint...so sparkly!

On the inside of my Rococo Rose card I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped more images and a sentiment from the Tasteful Touches stamp set in Smoky Slate ink.

You can expect to see LOTS more of the products in this suite used on projects from me in the coming weeks and months. This is one of those suites that does double duty, standing on it's own and coordinating well with other products. I'll be showcasing all of the products in the suite, demonstrating this card and two others in today's Live @ Five video over on my Facebook business page. I hope you'll join me! If you can't make the live broadcast, be sure to catch the replay on my YouTube channel shortly afterwards.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!

Shaking off the Holiday Hangover...

...with some sneak peeks from the upcoming Mini Catalogue!

Happy Monday everyone! Yes...it is actually Monday. If you're like me, the time between Christmas and New Year's is like the twilight zone...not really sure what day it is and no clue about the date. We had a blissfully quiet Christmas in the Girsa household...a welcome change from the frenetic pace of everyday life. It was the perfect blend of time with family and quiet time to relax and unwind. Hence my difficulty with keeping track of what day it is!

With the new decade fast-approaching we stampers also look forward to a new catalogue and the awesome-est promotion of the year, Sale-a-bration! There is SO much to love about this new not-so-mini catalogue! This week I am showcasing a few sneak-peek products, starting with the utterly gorgeous Parisian Blossoms Suite. Check out this pretty swap card I created...

I love absolutely everything about this bundle! The images in the stamp set are perfect for layering and creating collages...one of my favourite stamping techniques. The sentiments are beautiful in stunning fonts. And don't even get me started on the Designer Paper! It is specialty paper with champagne foil accents on all 12 sheets...simply stunning! The coordinating embossing folder is also beautiful...and then we have delicate Petal Pink ribbon and champagne rhinestones....ooh la la!!

The coordinating dies not only have dies that cut out stamped images, but also several that cut various shapes, such as the beautiful flourish I used on this card. Such a lovely way to create DIY embellishments! Speaking of embellishments, did you notice my faux-metal seal? I created it by simply heat embossing the seal image in silver on champagne foil and then punched it out using the 1" circle punch. An easy and pretty way to create a metallic embellishment.

On the inside I added a stamped panel with another sentiment and several stamped images from the stamp set. So pretty!

I'll be demonstrating this card and two others that showcase new product in this week's Live @ Five video over on my Facebook page. If you can't catch me live, you can view the replay on my YouTube channel or on the Video Tutorials tab at the top of this page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I wish you a wonderful week and all the best in 2020!

Heirloom Frames and Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peeks!

Happy Monday! Just two more left till school starts...argh! So much to do and so little time! I need to spend the next two weeks buried in my studio to get ready for all of my fall events.
Speaking of fall, I am absolutely LOVING the gorgeous fall-themed products in the new Holiday Catalogue! So much so, that I decided to combine this week's featured product with some awesome sneak peeks from the upcoming catalogue! I am featuring the Woven Threads Suite and love how easily the products from this suite can be used for seasonal projects. Here are the items in the suite...

Woven Threads Suite (Item #152184)

For today's project share I combined products from this suite with the Gather Together bundle from the Holiday Catalogue for a fall-themed sympathy card...

I love this Terracotta Tile linen-look DSP pattern for fall! I used it for my background and then stamped the sentiment directly on it in Early Espresso ink. The frame is die-cut from Early Espresso card stock, embossed with the coordinating embossing folder and them distressed using the new Golden Glitz Delicata metallic ink. I love the way the gold ink accents the beautiful embossed pattern on the frame.

I adhered the frame to the background panel, centring it around the stamped sentiment, using dimensionals. I created an arrangement of leaves and twigs using the Gathered Leaves dies, which BOTH cut and emboss in one pass through the machine. LOVE that!! One tip that I have discovered is that if you lightly mist or brush your card stock with an Aqua Painter before die-cutting, you get a much deeper impression on the leaves. The little twigs and sprigs were die-cut using the new All Around Wreath dies...I am loving these little accents for more than just wreath-building!

See those little tufts peeking out from behind the leaves? Those are tassels created from the Woven Threads Trim! It's super-easy to do by simply removing the bottom thread on the trim...quick and easy tassel embellishments! The final touch was a little double bow tied with some Cajun Craze twine from the Come To Gather ribbon combo pack.

On the inside, I added a Very Vanilla panel on which I stamped a beautiful sentiment from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set in Early Espresso ink, as well as some flourishes in Pretty Peacock.

Sympathy cards are never fun to make, but using beautiful products like these makes it much easier.

I will be featuring this card and two others in tomorrow's Live @ Five video over on my Facebook business page. I hope you'll join me then, but if you miss it, you can check out the replay later in the week on my YouTube channel or on the Video Tutorials tab above.

Before I go, just a reminder that my Holiday Catalogue Product Shares are now open for ordering. You can reserve your Designer Series Paper and Ribbon Shares by clicking the appropriate images below. Deadline to order shares is September 2nd. Shares are available to Canadian residents only.

Thanks for stopping by today...have a spectacular week!
