Warm Wishes for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. Here, we are in full Christmas-decorating mode. We have the tree up and most of the decorations done...just one more room to go! It was a family affair with everyone pitching in, which is a nice change from past years when it has been all-Mommy-all-the-time ;)
Today marks the start of a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps. It features lots of rich yummy hues...

Here is my wintry take on it:

I'll admit, I found this challenge tough, as I am still in Christmas-mode. So I pulled the two shades of grey and one of the reds from the challenge to come up with this design that works as a Christmas or winter-theme card.

I used the Cable Knit TIEF to emboss my Smokey Slate background panel and then layered two silver foil snowflakes on top. I added die-cut mittens in Real Red and Whisper White. These were cut with the Many Mittens Framelits, which just happen to be on sale in the Year End Sale promotion right now! I added a stitched felt star because felt just makes everything cozier and I love the texture it adds.

The sentiment is from a retired set called Winter Wishes and is simply perfect for this design. I added some Smokey Slate 1/8" stitched ribbon and some silver enamel dots and hearts in the centre of the mittens for some sparkle. Voila...quick and easy holiday card.

On the inside I used a sentiment from the Hearts Come Home stamp set, inking it with Smokey Slate and Real Red markers, and then added another little silver enamel heart.

If you're looking for a creative challenge or a break from Christmas red and green, give this challenge a try and then be sure to share with us over at Sunday Stamps. We'd love to see what you create!

Monday Morning CASE

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a good weekend.  Today I have another project from my upcoming Christmas card buffet. It is a CASE of the amazingly awesome Kimberly VanDiepen.

Christmas card featuring the Winter Wishes stamp set
I love the neutral colour palette of this one. I used Sahara Sand, Whisper White and Early Espresso.  So warm and wintry ;)  I stamped the sled in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White card stock and then matted the stamped piece with Early Espresso card stock. The background panel is Sahara Sand card stock that is embossed using the Woodland TIEF. The card is built on a base of thick Whisper White card stock.

For added texture, I used a strip of white Corrugated Paper and then added some (retired) 7/16" Natural Ribbon Trim.  I love the texture of that ribbon...reminds me of a cozy sweater. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink on a strip of Sahara Sand card stock. I added a wooden Snowflake Element and a bit of Linen Thread, wrapped around the snowflake and tied in a bow.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment from the Lots of Joy stamp set in Early Espresso ink. I then stamped the pine bough in Sahara Sand ink over the stamped sentiment as well as along the upper edge.

Warm Winter Wishes

Happy Hump Day!  Half way to the weekend...wahoo!  I hope you are having a good week. It's also the last day of September...wow that month went fast!

Today I have a project I designed for my October Christmas card buffet using the Winter Wishes stamp set:

Christmas card featuring the Winter Wishes stamp set.
This is another rustic Holiday card! You'd think I lived in Canada, or something ;)  This one reminds me of Christmases at my parents' place up north where you can always count on a white Christmas with a roaring fire to keep you warm.  To create this look I stamped the various images from the Winter Wishes set using Early Espresso ink on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock. I added snowy highlights to the images using my Chalk Marker and then added a frosty border around the edges using Whisper White Craft ink.

The DSP is from the Merry Moments pack. I layered it on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that I embossed using the Woodgrain TIEF. By way of embellishment, I added some (retired) 3/8" Natural Ribbon, a wooden Snowflake Element, some Gold Cording Trim and an Iced Rhinestone.

Inside view with sentiment from Reason for The Season.
On the inside I stamped a sentiment from the Reason for the Season stamp set in Early Espresso ink and the pine bough from the Winter Wishes set in Mossy Meadow ink.

Here are the supplies I used to create this project.  Clicking any one of them will take you directly to my online store for easy ordering.
