Ho Ho Four-fold

Well this week sure has gotten away from me! I can't believe it is already Thursday! Today I have a fun alternative to a traditional Christmas card for you. I wanted to do something different for my parents this year, so I created this...

How fun is that? It's a Christmas card that also doubles as a home decor piece. So much fun! To create the base, I followed Lyssa Zwolanek's fabulous Four-fold card photo tutorial over at Song of My Heart Stampers. You can see her tutorial here.  I made the base using Real Red card stock and then added a strip of Basic Black card stock to look like Santa's belt. The letters, from the Layered Letters stamp set, are stamped in Basic Black ink, die-cut using the Layering Squares framelits, and then matted on silver glimmer paper squares. I was going for a look reminiscent of a Santa's belt buckle.

The Santa and reindeer images are stamped using the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set, punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch and then coloured using Stampin' Write markers. So quick and easy! I added a 3-3/4" square photo of Max in his Santa hat, which my parents will love!

Here is what this project looks like closed...it actually fits in a standard envelope!

I created a belly band to secure the card closed. I used Basic Black card stock and another Santa image from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set. The sentiment is from the Tin of Tags stamp set.

I am so happy with the way this turned out...and I know my parents will be too. Knowing my mom, she'll have this one displayed year-round!

Have a fabulous day!

Christmas is Love

Are you in panic mode trying to get your Christmas cards made? Today I have a quick and easy one for you! Check it out:

Isn't that the sweetest?? I love the Candy Cane Lane DSP, which is what does ALL the work on this card. The only part that takes some time is fussy-cutting the little gingerbread houses out, but that is the perfect busy-work for an evening sitting watching your favourite Christmas movie, right? Once the houses are cut out it is simply a matter of adhering them to the die-cut scalloped white oval and Real Red ovals (cut with the Layering Ovals framelits) and stamping the sentiment. I added some little Real Red card stock hearts, punched with the Confetti Heart punch to the bottom and glitzed them up with a brush of clear Wink of Stella. I did the same to the snow on the roofs of the houses.

The DSP in the background is also from the Candy Cane Land pack. The Real Red stitched edge ribbon adds just the right pop of colour and texture (and it's on sale during the Year End Close-out Sale too!). I finished off with a little gingerbread man trinket, tied to the ribbon with some Linen Thread. So cute and easy!

On the inside, I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the sentiment (from the Forever Evergreen stamp set) in Real Red ink, and the little gingerbread man from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set in Crumb Cake ink. I added a couple more little punched Real Red card stock hearts to his buttons.

This really is a fast and easy card to put together... and many of the products I used are on sale during the Year End Closeout Sale. Snatch them up today, before they're gone!

Have a fabulous day!

Beary Merry

Happy first day of Autumn! Are you as ready as I am for sweater weather and colourful leaves? It is still unseasonably hot here...feels more like July than late September!
Even though the weather is warm, I am madly designing Christmas cards for my upcoming events. Today's project is one that will be on offer at my buffet next week...

Can you believe this is the first time my Baby Bear stamp set has seen ink?? How sad is that? I challenged my team members this month to go to their stamp storage, close their eyes, pull out a stamp set and create a card with it. This is the stamp set I pulled out and I sure am glad I did! I stamped my bear in Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I used the largest square in the Layering Squares framelits to die-cut  him out and then matted the die-cut square on a scalloped square in Cherry Cobbler.

The background DSP is from the This Christmas speciality pack in the Annual Catalogue...I soo love that paper! I layered it on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and then on a Crumb Cake card base. The sentiment is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set in the Holiday catty. I stamped it in Soft Suede ink and then punched it using the Duet Banner punch. The little holly leaves are from the Holly Berry Happiness set. I stamped them in Garden Green ink on card stock of the same shade. I used the Holly Berry Builder punch to punch them out and arranged them around a section of a gold metallic doily, which I tucked in under the sentiment banner.

The only embellishments are some Cherry Cobbler 3/8" Silky Taffeta Ribbon and some gold twine from the Baker's Twine Trio Pack.

Have a thrilling Thursday...the weekend is in sight!
