Christmas in July Blog Hop

Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a good weekend. I held my quarterly team training event yesterday and it was SO much fun! I absolutely LOVE spending time with my Stamping Symphony family. One of the things we enjoy doing is swapping card ideas. This month our theme was Christmas in July to get us all in the mood as we await the release of the new Holiday Catalogue. There were some AMAZING designs and we decided that this month's blog hop should feature some of them. So, here is our monthly hop...

I have been playing with the Follow Your Dreams bundle recently and decided it would make a beautiful Christmas card...

Now, I actually used several different products on this card. I began by die-cutting the Whisper White background layer using the Chase Your Dreams Framelits. I love that I can cut a peek-through window in my card front with it. After die-cutting I embossed the panel using the Subtle TIEF...that one is fast becoming a favourite! I added a bit of gold foil behind my window and then added a die-cut gold circle using the same die, but this time adding the circle die to cut it out fully from the foil sheet. The result is a kinda cool reverse image of the window. The "poinsettia" is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set. I heat embossed the image in gold on Real Red card stock and then sponged  bit of Real Red ink in the centre of the flower for shadow. I also added some Wink of Stella to make it sparkle.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Pines stamp set and is heat embossing in gold. I used the label die from the Petals & More thinlits to die-cut the sentiment and then layered it on a gold foil filigree label, also cut with the same thinlits. The only embellishments on this card are some gold pearls and gold metallic thread. I love how delicate and subtle that stuff is!

On the inside of the card I added another sentiment from the Christmas Pines stamp set and some little flourishes from the Eastern Beauty set stamped in Real Red and Soft Suede inks respectively.

I love thinking outside the box and coming up with uses for stamps and products beyond the obvious. It makes my products so much more versatile and helps me see them in a whole new light. For more Christmas in July inspiration, check out the projects on these blogs below. There are some super-talented stampers in the Stamping Symphony!

Eastern Thanks for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday...and if you're in Canada, happy LONG WEEKEND!! This marks the unofficial start of summer for Canucks and though the weather isn't exactly perfect (it's raining as I type this!) there is a promise of warm summer days to come.
Today marks the start of a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps. Check it out:

This challenge is the PERFECT  way to showcase two of the new In-Colours from the upcoming 2017/18 Annual Catalogue, which is what I did on my project:

Isn't that bold citrus just fabulous? It is called Lemon Lime Twist and is my new favourite colour. It pairs perfectly with just about anything for a fun pop of sassy colour. Here I used it with Bermuda Bay and Tranquil Tide (another new In-Colour!).  I really wanted to showcase the colours so I added bold strips of card stock to my project. I embossed the strips using the new Oh My Stars TIEF, which will also be available on June 1st in the upcoming catalogue.

I used the Eastern Beauty stamp set to create a bold stamped pattern to fill in the remaining white space on my card front. I created the focal image by die-cutting a medallion from gold foil card stock using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits. I added the stamped sentiment, which I die-cut using the Layering Circles Framelits, as well as a Lemon Lime Twist card stock mat behind it.

I glammed up my project with some gold 1/8" metallic ribbon and a gold tassel.

On the inside I stamped more of the same images I used on the front using Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Tranquil Tide inks. LOVE this fresh colour combo!

Why not give this combo a try on a project of your own? When you do be sure to share it with us at Sunday Stamps. In the meantime, have a super Sunday!

Eastern Note for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. It has been SO cold and rainy here...five straight days of steady rain and near freezing temperatures...wondering what happened to spring! I hope it is nicer where you are!!

Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps...

Since I have been obsessed with the Eastern Palace Bundle lately, I naturally used it for my project:

I began with a piece of Whisper White card stock which I embossed using the Softly Falling TIEF. I purposely cut it a bit narrower than I needed so as to leave room for a pretty gold scallop border sticker, which I adhered directly to the thick Whisper White card base. I used some Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate for the rectangular element and then die-cut a medallion from Whisper White card stock using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits. I backed the die-cut medallion with a gold foil circle to make it pop against the white background.

I heat embossed the sentiment, which is from the Eastern Beauty stamp set, in gold and added another piece of border sticker along the bottom. I added a gold tassel and some retired gold cord, which works perfectly with the tassel and is still available on the Clearance Rack in my webstore.

I love how quick and easy it is to create elegant projects with this suite of products. The stickers and tassels add so much to the finished project and the medallion dies...well they are beyond fabulous! If you have not taken advantage of the pre-release of these amazing products yet, you don't know what you're missing!

This is a super-versatile sketch...be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects and then give the sketch a try...and be sure to share your work with us so we can marvel at your creativity!

Have a super Sunday!
