Watercolour Flourish

Happy Monday! It is a crisp, coolish morning here! A welcome relief from all the heat and humidity we've had this summer, but a little bit too much like fall for my liking. I'm not ready to admit that summer's almost over :(
Today I have a decidedly summery card for you. It is one I designed for my Flourishing Phrases class this evening...

I love the simplicity of this project. I began with a simple water colour wash using Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder inks. I actually did the wash on two different pieces of watercolour paper so that I would have one for my background and one from which to die-cut my flowers. Once they were dry, I die-cut two smaller flowers and one large flower using the Flouish Thinlits. I adhered the flowers to my second watercoloured piece using the Fine Tip Glue Pen and then matted it on a slightly larger piece of Watermelon Wonder card stock. I adhered that to a base of thick Whisper White card stock.

To add a bit of texture, I flicked the gold Wink of Stella brush all over the front of the card...I love the subtle shimmer that creates. The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and is stamped in Watermelon Wonder ink. I added a bit of gold metallic thread and a little gold foil banner behind the sentiment to highlight it. The only embellishments on this card  are two little rhinestones in the centre of the die-cut flowers.

On the inside, I stamped the flower image from the Flouishing Phrases set, ink the stamp first with Peekaboo Peach ink, then daubing on Flirty Flamingo and Watermelon Wonder for an ombre effect.

The Flourishing Phraseset stamp set and Flourish Thinlits work beautifully together AND they're available in at a discount when you buy both together. Oh...and the work PERFECTLY with a brand-new bundle from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue. More on that later this week ;)

Have a marvelous Monday!

Flourishing Bandana Technique

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was fabulous. I am currently sitting overlooking the lake under a clear blue sky. Such a gorgeous day and so perfectly peaceful. I thought I'd share one of the projects we'll be making at my Flourishing Phrases bundle class a week from tonight (when I'm back to reality!)

Now, I'm not a huge fan of purple, but I have to admit, I'm really loving the combination of Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry. Those two shades were meant for each other, which makes them perfect for this congratulations card. I stamped the flourish image from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink on Sweet Sugarplum card stock. Then I used my white gel pen to add highlights to the stamped image. This is known as the bandana technique, because it looks very much like the patterns one would see printed on a bandana scarf. I matted the stamped pieces on Rich Razzleberry card stock and adhered them to a 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White card stock panel. The base is Rich Razzleberry card stock.

I stamped the sentiment, from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, in Rich Razzleberry ink between the stamped panels. I added two little die cut pieces cut using the the Flourish Thinlits, in Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry card stock. I added a little bow formed from Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon and added a few rhinestones for some sparkle. What I love about this card is that it would be so easy to change the colour scheme to work with the wedding colours of the bride and groom, making it completely customizable. How great would this be for a rustic, outdoor late-summer or fall wedding??

On the inside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the flourish image in Rich Razzleberry ink. I purposely omitted a sentiment so that I could use it for another celebration, besides a wedding, if needed. It is easy to quickly stamp an appropriate sentiment when the time comes.

Thanks so much for stopping by...have a magnificent Monday!

Flourishing Thanks

One of my most-needed types of cards are Thank You cards. I send one for each order I receive, which means I go through a TON of them. Lately I've been nearing the end of my stash and desperately need to replenish my supply. I also needed to design the projects for an upcoming class, so....

This is what I came up with. I love the combination of Smoky Slate and Soft Sky, which is the pallette I used here. The background panel is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Smoky Slate card stock that I embossed using the Softly Falling TIEF and then matted on a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Sofy Sky card stock before mounting it on a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" card base in Smoky Slate. All of the heavy lifting on this card is done by the beautiful die-cuts. I used the Flourish Thinlits and Soft Sky and Whisper White card stock. Sooo pretty!

I added a sentiment from the coordinating Flourishing Phrases stamp set, stamped in Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White card stock, I used the Project Life Cards and Labels framelits to die-cut the label. The only embellishments here are some silve metallic thread and a single metal-rimmed pearl. Understated, but so pretty.

On the inside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the flower and leaf images from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set in Soft Sky and Smoky Slate inks respectively.

I was thinking...how pretty would this card be for bridal thank you's done in the colours of wedding? Hmmmm...

Thanks so much for stopping by today...hope your Wednesday is wonderful!
