Today my Stamping Symphony team is hosting our montly blog hop. This month we're all about heat embossing. This is the technique that sold me on stamping all those years ago. There's something positively magical about watching that powder melt! This theme gave me the chance to use a new technique I've been dying to try. It's called Black Ice and, boy, does it ever create a WOW! Check this out...

Now, I have to say, the picture doesn't do this card justice. It truly is stunning! And SO easy to do! I used Champagne foil and dragged my Archival Black ink pad lightly across it to create faint streaks. Then I stamped the flower image from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set in the same ink. (Note that this technique requires the archival ink...classic ink won't stick to the foil.) Then I heat set the ink with the drying setting on my heat tool. Once it was set, I VERY lightly dragged my Versamark pad across the foil sheet. You don't want to lay down too much ink or you'll lose the ice effect. I heat embossed with clear embossing powder and that's it! So easy yet stunning!  Here's a closer look...

To assemble the rest of the card I embossed a piece of Basic Gray card stock with the Garden Trellis TIEF and mounted it on a Basic Gray card stock base. I matted the stamped panel on black, added some Basic Gray shimmer SAB ribbon and adhered it to the card base. The sentimetn is stamped in Basic Black ink and die cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits. I added a little silver metallic doily peeking our under the sentiment.

On the inside I stamped the floral image again on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Basic Black ink. So simple, yet such a wow!

Lavender Thanks

Happy Monday! I don't quite know where the weekend went, but here it is Monday and time for a brand new week. This is a busy one for me, with four stamping events in five nights AND the end of the semester with exams and report cards at school. Yikes!!
Today  I have a pretty card we made at my Stampin' Bingo event last Friday evening. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest by Kimberley VanDipen...

I absolutely adore the images in the Lots of Lavender Sale-a-bration stamp set! They are so soft and pretty and give the look of watercolouring without the time or mess. On this card I stamped the outline images in Basic Black Archival ink and then added the colour with Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz ink. So soft and pretty.

The Wisteria Wonder card stock strip across the front of the card is embossed using the Petal Pair TIEF...those are fast becoming new favourites! I added some white organza ribbon and a little Petal Passion embellishement. The sentiment is from the HEartfelt Blooms Sale-a-bration stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black ink and punched using the new Tailored Tag punch. I added a little hint of a doily peeking out below the tag.

On the inside I added  a Whisper White panel on which I stamped more of the lavender images as I did on the front.

I hope you have a good week...and that it is a wee bit less crazy than mine will be!

Blooms and Gingham

Hi there...I hope you're having a good week! Today I want to share with you a project I made using the Heartfelt Blooms Sale-a-bration stamp set. Check this out...

Now, I will admit, that when I first saw this stamp set at OnStage, I wasn't all that impressed. It wasn't until I used it and saw the incredible photo-realistic image it creates that I fell in love with it. It is a new, Stampin' Up! exclusive style of stamp called DistINKtive, and it fabulous! Here is a closer look at the stamped flowers:

The depth and shadows this stamp gives are just amazing! To create this card, I first stamped the image and then die-cut a stitched circle to pop up a portion of the stamped image. I added a sentiment from the same stamp set in Night of Navy ink. I love the combination of Sweet Sugarplum and Night of Navy!

I also ran the Whisper White card stock through my Big Shot using the new Petal Pair TIEF and then layered it on a piece of Night of Nacy card stock before adding some gingham ribbon in the same shade. I layered that on a piece of Sweet Sugarplum card stock and then mounted it on a Night of Navy card stock base.

On the inside I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped a portion of the floral image in Sweet Sugarplum.

I can't say enough about how beautiful this stamped image is...oh, did I mention it is FREE with a $60 order during Sale-a-bration?? This set needs to be at the top of your Wish List for sure!
