Happy Heart Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope your day started better than mine!  I ended up in a walk-in clinic to get antibiotics for this crummy sinus infection.  Not the ideal start to the day, but when I came home, my wonderful hubby had vaccuumed and mopped the floors and had a lovely bouquet of flowers waiting for me!  What a keeper!

Today I have a cute little treat box I designed for my Feel the Love Valentine's class last week:

Treat box made with the Simply Scored and Envelope Punch Board.
This cute little design is not my own.  I used a tutorial by Tracey May.  It is super easy to put together, which made it perfect for my class.

Before assembling the box I stamped all the way around with the confetti hearts stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar set using Real Red ink.  I also added some metallic gold spatters using the Gorgeous Grunge set.  The top of the box is punched with the Confetti Hearts Border Punch.  I tied the box closed with some 1/4" Real Red cotton Ribbon.

The tag began with Whisper White card stock punched with the Note Tag punch.  I added a gold foil heart that I embossed using the (retired) Adorning Accents TIEF.  I layered it on a Real Red heart die-cut with the (retired) scalloped heart Embosslit.  I added some gold sequin trim and a little banner heat embossed in gold  using the Good Greeting Hostess set (retired).

I hope you are spending today with the ones you love...make a special one!

Sending Love Your Way

Happy Tuesday!  Today feels more like a Monday here...we had a snow day yesterday!!  We got upwards of a foot of snow in just 12 hours, which pretty much ground everything to a halt.  Both my son and I had a day off school...only my poor hubby had to trek through the snow to get to work.  Poor guy :(  I made it up to him with a crock pot full of chilli, a pan of homemade corn bread and fresh-from-the-oven apple crisp for dinner.  I think he enjoyed it ;)
Now for today's project...Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I have a class coming up this weekend where we will be making some projects to let the special people in our lives know just how much we love them.  This is one of the projects we'll be making.

Valentine's card featuring the Perfect Pennants and Celebrate Today stamp sets.
To create the cloudy sky background layer I punched a post-it note with the 2-3/8" circle punch and then used it as a mask to create the puffy clouds.  I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock, adhered the scalloped circle and then sponged with a dauber and Soft Sky ink.  Then I moved the mask and sponged some more, repeating this process until I had covered the entire piece of card stock.  The basket of the balloon is from the Celebrate Today stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black ink.  The balloon is die-cut using the Balloon Framelits from Stacked With Love DSP.  I also die-cut the little banner from silver glimmer paper using the same framelit set.

The words Sending...your way are from the Perfect Pennants set.  I simply omitted the "good thoughts" portion of the stamp by inking the words I wanted with my Basic Black marker.  The blank space left was perfectly-sized for the die-cut "love", cut from Real Red card stock using the Expressions (retired) Thinlits.  The background Real Red mat is embossed using the Happy Heart TIEF.  I added some little silver glimmer hearts, punched with the Confetti Hearts Border punch, spilling out of the basket.  The card base is Soft Sky card stock.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment from the Good Greetings (retired) stamp set in Real Red ink and added some little hearts in Soft Sky ink using the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set.

I {heart} U

Happy Sunday!  It's time for a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps.  This one is just perfect for Valentine's Day...check it out:

I planned my design using this week's sketch challenge over at  PPA:

PPA236

And here is my take on it:

Valentine's card featuring the Perpetual Birthday Calendar and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets.
I had some grungy fun with this one!  I stated with a piece of Whisper White card stock which I stamped several times with the heart confetti image from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set using Real Red ink.  Then I added some spatters using the Gorgeous Grunge set and gold metallic ink.  I embossed the whole thing using the Adorning Accents TIEF (retired).  I added a 1/2" strip of Real Red card stock that I punched with the Hearts Border Punch, as well as some gold baker's twine.  The letters are made using Simply Pressed Clay and the new Alphanumeric mold...so happy to see a new mold for this product line!  I coloured the heart using my Real Red Stampin' Write marker and added some hints of gold to the letters using a sponge dauber and gold metallic ink.  I adhered then to a little banner cut from a piece of Burlap trim.

I added some gold sequin trim and a gold baker's twine bow to the bottom of the banner and scattered a few random sequins around.

Inside view with sentiments from Something to Say.
On the inside I repeated the stamped images from the front as a border along the outer edge.  The sentiment is from the Something to Say set and is stamped in Real Red ink.  I added a little heart, also from the Something to Say set, stamped in gold metallic ink.

Why not give this challenge a try...we, at Sunday Stamps,  would love to see your work!
