Almost Back to Normal

Wow...talk about the lost week! I haven't been that sick in a very long time. This flu totally knocked the stuffing out of me. I am feeling much better, though still not 100%. Hopefully the weekend will bring renewed energy and time to get into my studio again. My poor stamps must think I've abandoned them!
Before I show you today's project I must remind you that the Retiring Products List has been posted in preparation for the launch of the new 2017/18 Annual Catalogue in June. Some of my most-beloved products are going away *sigh* but I know there will be lots to love in the new catty. Because the list has posted, all items on that list are now available on a while-supplies-last basis, with the exception of stamp sets which are guaranteed until May 22nd. If there are items you would still like to get, order ASAP, as some items will sell out very quickly.

Now for a project. This is one we'll be making at my Watercolour 101 class this week...

The background was created using Watercolor Pencils and Irresistably Floral specialty DSP. I just love the way the watercolour wash makes the floral images pop. I layered the DSP on a piece of Rich Razzleberry card stock before mounting it on a thick Whisper White card stock base.

The sentiment is from the Suite Sentiments stamp set and is heat embossed in silver and then die-cut using the Stitched Shapes framelits. I layered the label on a scalloped Rich Razzleberry oval die-cut using the Layering Labels framelits, and mounted that on a silver metallic doily. The flowers were die-cut using the Stylish Stems framelits. I cut the top layer from Whisper White card stock and the bottom from Watercolour paper on which I had done a wash using the Watercolor Pencils and an aquapainter. The only embellishment is a tiny vellum butterfly, punched using the Bitty Butterfly punch and  accented with a few little rhinestones.

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from the Picture Perfect stamp set in Rich Razzleberry ink and added another little vellum butterfly.

Thanks for stopping by and for your patience while I was ill. Have a great week!

Dragon Fly Tunnel Card

Happy Friday!!! It is an extra-good day because today kicks off a long weekend here in Ontario. Looking forward to spending some quality time with my boys!

Today I have a project I designed for a recent class featuring the Dragon Fly Dreams bundle from the Occasions Catalogue...

The front of this one is pretty simple and straightforward. I began with a standard card base in Old Olive. I stamped the background using the dragonfly stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in ink of the same shade. The DSP I used on the focal panel is from the Succulent Garden DSP pack. I added some gold metallic thread and matted it on a piece of gold foil card stock. The dragon fly is die-cut from gold foil card stock using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

The inside is where the WOW happens ;) I created by tunnel with Whisper White card stock and lined the inside of the window with more of the same DSP I used on the front of the card. I stamped a couple of dragonflies on the DSP before constructing the pop-out feature. I used the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits to die-cut the dragonfly groupings from gold foil card stock, trimming off the portions I didn't want with my paper snips. The sentiment is from the Suite Sentiments.

Would you like a video tutorial showing how I made this card? I have a Class-to-Go available for FREE when you order the Dragonfly Dreams bundle. You'll received kits to make three beautiful cards (including this one) along with video tutorials for each. Here is a photo of the cards included in the kit:

To order your kit, simply visit my online store and order the Dragonfly Dreams bundle. I will contact you to see if you would like the free Class-to-go and arrange to send it to you. You only pay the actual cost of postage to mail it to you. You'll also receive an email with links to the video tutorials for each project.

Have a spectacular weekend!!

Carousel Birthday

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend! Today marks the start of the second semester at school...officially half-way done the school year! Summer can't come soon enough for this tired-out teacher!
Today I have a fun, vintage-inspired birthday card for you.

One of the things I love most about Stampin' Up! is the way they offer suites of coordinating products that make putting together fabulous projects a breeze. This project features products from the Cupcakes and Carousels Suite, which is full of vintagey images and a fabulous colour pallette. Here I built my card on an Early Espresso card stock base that I embossed using the Festive TIEF. I layered a 3" x 5-1/2" piece of Cupcakes and Carousels DSP on top of the embossed card base.

The focal image consists of a Very Vanilla oval die-cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits and layered on a scalloped oval, die-cut from another piece of Cupcakes and Carousels DSP using the Layering Ovals framelits. On the vanilla oval I stamped several images from the Carousel Birthday stamp set using Early Espresso, So Saffron and Bermuda Bay ink. I added some gold 3/8" metallic Sale-a-bration ribbon behind the layered ovals which reminds me of streamers at a carnival.

The sentiment, from the Suite Sentiments stamp set, is stamped in Early Espresso ink on yet another piece of Cupcakes and Carousels DSP. I used the Triple Banner punch to create the banner ends. The only embellishment I added, besides the ribbon, are a few Bermuda Bay enamel dots.

On the inside I added a piece of Very Vanilla card stock on which I stamped more images from the Carousel Birthday stamp set in So Saffron, Bermuda Bay and Early Espresso (the latter two were stamped-off once).

What's not to love about coordinating products when it makes pulling together fabulous projects so easy?? Click any of the images in the Product List below to visit my webstore and start creating with this amazing suite.
