Season's Greetings

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. We are celebrating our Thanksgiving here in Canada, so I am off to stuff a turkey as soon as I finish this post!

Today marks the start of a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps....

Here is my take on the challenge:

I love blue with pops of red for Christmas, so this challenge immediately inspired a holiday card. I began with a piece of Cheer All Year specialty DSP and then sponged on Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo inks. I love the way the silver foil pattern pops against the blue background. I layered the sponged DSP on a mat of Real Red card stock and then mounted it on an Island Indigo card stock base.

The sentiment, from the Cheers to the Year stamp set, is heat embossed in silver over a stamped snowflake in Tempting Turquoise ink. I added a pop of Real Red with the swirled circle image from the same stamp set. I punched the stamped images out using my 2" circle punch and then layered it on a Tempting Turquoise mat, punched with the starburst punch. Behind that I added a silver foil swirl, die-cut using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. I added a silver Year of Cheer Embellishment and a little Real Red bow. The final touch was a few scattered silver sequins.

On the inside I added a Whisper White card stock panel on which I stamped more of the snowflakes from the Cheers to the Year stamp set in Tempting Turquoise and Island Indigo inks.

This is a fun colour challenge because it works for everything from birthdays to Christmas. Give it a go and then be sure to share with us over at Sunday Stamps. We'd love to see your work!

Now, I'm off to get up close and personal with a rather large bird ;)

Changing Gears

I know I've been all about Christmas for a while now, but I do actually work on other things! Today I want to show you two of the Project Life layouts I designed for my Project Life club this month. We are all about Halloween this month, using the Seasonal Snapshot 2015 card kit from the Holiday Catalogue.

Halloween-themed Project Life layout featuring the Seasonal Snapshot 2015 card kit.
So I pulled out some of my favourite photos of my son from when he was just a wee one for this layout. As sad as it is, I am waaaaay behind scrapbooking his life.  Thanks to my new-found love of Project Life, I am making some good progress getting his book(s) done.

On this page I used lots of products to pretty-up my page. I used some Happy Haunting DSP, Spider Web Doilies, black Glimmer paper, and the Cheer All Year  and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets. I also made a little shaker card using sequins, a window sheet and some Washi Tape.

On this page I again used some Happy Haunting DSP, black and gold Glimmer paper, Spider Web doilies and the Alphabet Rotary stamp.  So fun!

If you haven't yet jumped on the Project Life by Stampin' Up train yet, I'd be happy to have you join me! My next Project Life club starts in January with all new layouts. I'm even offering a long-distance option for those who want to participate but aren't local to me.  Stay tuned for more information in December!

A Quick and Easy Halloween Treat Holder

Happy Hump Day...just two more days till the weekend!  I am already exhausted and school just started! Today I have a really quick post about a really quick and easy treat holder for Halloween using the new Square Pillow Box Thinlits...

Halloween Treat holder featuring the Cheer All Year Stamp set and the Square Pillowbox Thinlit Dies.
This one really does go together lickety split. I made the box from Basic Black card stock, using the Square Pillowbox Thinlit Dies and embossed it using the Softly Falling TIEF. The belly band is a piece of Happy Haunting DSP cut to 2" wide. I used half a spider web doily (LOVE those things!) and some Into The Woods 3/8" cotton ribbon in Rich Razzleberry.

The little bat is from the Cheer All Year stamp set.  I stamped it in Basic Black Archival ink and fussy cut it out. The sentiment is die cut from silver glimmer paper using the Seasonal Frame Thinlits.
Super quick and super easy.  I'll be making more of these for my son's friends this year!

In case you missed it, I'm offering a promotion this week only!

Now here are all of the products I used to create this project:

Happy Haunting

Happy Thursday!  I hope you are having a good week.  We are getting ready to head up to my parents' place by the lake this weekend for a few days, so lots of organizing and laundry is getting done around here.
Now, I know Halloween is still a couple of months away, but I want to share with you a project we did at my monthly team meeting this week.  It uses lots of new products from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue, so consider this yet another sneak peek ;)

Halloween card featuring the Cheer All Year stamp set and Happy Haunting DSP, both available in the 2015 Holiday Catalogue September 1st
We generally are not big Halloween people in our household.  My son likes to dress up and go trick-or-treating, but that's about the extent of our Halloween celebrations.  But I have to say, I love the Halloween products in this year's Holiday Catalogue!  I couldn't resist the new Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper...such fun patterns!  Take a close look at the orange patterned panel.  Do you see the Jack'o'Lantern faces?  So fun!  Speaking of fun, how about those spider web doilies??  So love those...and I have some ideas to use them beyond Halloween...stay tuned ;)

The stamp set I used is called Cheer All Year and is meant to be used with the new Season to Season Wreath Project Kit, but it is a fabulous stamp set all on it's own!  I has images and sentiments for Fall, Halloween and Christmas.  Here I used the bat image and Halloween sentiment.  I stamped both using the new Basic Black Archival ink...SO in love with that stuff!  Look at how perfect that bat image is!  Crisp and true black.  LOVE!! Now, I wish I could say there was an accompanying set of framelits for the images in this stamp set, but alas, I had to revive my fussy-cutting skills for the bat.  Thankfully he's a pretty easy image to cut out ;)

On the inside I used a wee bit of the Spider Web Doily that I had trimmed from the front panel and stamped the little spider in the opposite corner.  Both the spider and the little sentiment are also from the Cheer All Year stamp set.  (See...I told you it was a great set!)
So, before I list all of the currently available products I used to create this project, here are the ones you'll be able to purchase on September 1st, when the 2015 Holiday Catalogue goes live:

Cheer All Year Stamp Set (139839) pg. 6
Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper (139584) pg.47
Spider Web Doilies (139622) pg. 47

The rest of the products I used are listed below.  Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!

A Fall Holiday Catalogue Preview and new Tutorial Video

Welcome to the day-before-the-day-before-the-weekend! I hope you're having a good week...Friday is just around the corner!
Today I have a couple of projects that showcase one of my favourite techniques as well as some new products from the upcoming Holiday Catalogue.

Any-occasion card featuring the For All Things stamp set with sentiment from Acorny Thank You (available September 1st in the Holiday Catalogue)
Can you spot the new products on this one?  I used a new TIEF to emboss the background.  It is called Woodland and it is STUNNING!  This is quickly become my new favourite, as it is super-versatile.

The focal image is done using the Emerging Colours technique.  I love the vibrant fall colours that result. Check out the video below for more information on how I created this card.

Fall-themed card featuring the new Happy Scenes and Cheer All Year stamp sets, both of which are available Sept. 1st in the Holiday Catalogue.

Don't you just love that background panel?  Wouldn't you love to learn how to do that?  Well today's your lucky day!  I have a new tutorial video for you that shows you exactly how to recreate this look. Check it out below and if you enjoy it please share it!

Now before I go I have some BIG news for you!  The Clearance Rack in my online store has been updated!  There are some fresh new bargains for you to shop, but remember quantities are limited and once they're gone, they're gone!

Here is a list of all of the products used to create the projects I've featured today.  Keep in mind this list does not include Holiday Catalogue products that will be released on Septemeber 1st.
