My Anchor

Last Friday my hubby and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. It was the first time in three years I haven't had to work on our big day. It was wonderful to be able to celebrate and spend some quality time together...it seems to be in short supply these days!  Here is the card I made for him:

Masculine card featuring the Guy Greetings and Work of Art stamp sets.
Since we had an October wedding, I chose a Fall-inspired colour palette. I used one of the brush-stroke images from the Work of Art set and stamped it in Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Cherry Cobbler inks. Then I stamped the anchor image from the Guy Greetings set over top using Early Espresso ink and die-cut it using the Lots of Labels Framelits.

The background panel is a piece of Kraft card stock that I embossed using the Woodgrain TIEF and then layered on a slightly larger piece of gold foil sheets. I added some subtle sparkle with single strands of gold metallic thread. The sentiment is also from the Guy Greetings set and is stamped in Early Espresso ink. I die-cut it using the Banners Framelits. The only additional embellishment is a bow made from gold Baker's twine. The card is built on an Early Espresso card base.

On the inside I stamped the heart from the Work of Art stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink and added a sentiment from the (retired) Good Greeting set in Early Espresso ink.

My hubby loved the simplicity of this project...try it for the man in your life!

Time to say Good-bye

This a bittersweet day each year for those of us who love Stampin' Up!  The annual ritual of saying goodbye to beloved products is a difficult one...like losing dear friends...but at the same time it is exciting as we anticipate all of the fabulous new products that will replace them when the new Annual Catalogue goes live in June.  This year is no different.  Some of my go-to favourite products will be going away soon, which makes me very sad.  The good news is that, while supplies last, many of these products are being offered at a discount!  Be sure to click the image below to view the complete list of retiring products and then place your order as soon as possible, so as not to miss out on the items you want.

Now for a new project!  This is one of the make-n-takes we did at my monthly team meeting last week.  It uses the Guy Greetings and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets:

Father's Day card featuring the Guy Greetings and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets.

I began by stamping a Smoky Slate card base with the splatter images from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  I used Basic Gray ink for the larger splatters and Metallic Silver for the smaller ones.  The centre strip is Basic Black card stock that I embossed using the Zig Zag TIEF.  The DSP panel is from the Stacked with  Love pack and is sponged using Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate ink.  I added three little silver mini brads.  The focal image, from the Guys Greetings stamp set,  is stamped in Basic Black ink, punched with the 1-3/4" circle punch and matted on a 2" circle in silver foil.

The sentiment, which is also from the Guy Greeting set, is stamped in Basic Black ink on a 1/2" strip of Whisper White card stock.  I used the Banner punch to create the pennant end and then wrapped the other end in some Basic Black Baker's Twine.

On the inside I stamped the wrenches again, this time using Smoky Slate ink.  The sentiments are stamped in Basic Black.  I added one more Bermuda Bay splatter, stamping off once before stamping on my panel.

Now, as if the retirement list wasn't enough excitement, here is a new round of Weekly Deals for you!  Sale prices are good until Monday at midnight.

World's Greatest

Happy April!  I know yesterday was the first, but things have been a wee bit hectic the past couple of weeks and I just didn't get a chance to post.  I can't even tell you how happy I am to say good-bye to March and hello to the promise of spring.  What's even better is that Easter is this weekend!  My favourite Holiday AND my sweet boy's 8th birthday all in the same weekend!  Yup...life isn't slowing down anytime soon!

Today I have a Father's Day card for those of you who want to get a head-start on projects for the men in your life.  This one uses the Guy Greetings stamp set...

Father's Day card featuring the Guy Greetings, Dictionary Background and Extreme Elements (retired) stamp sets.
I began by stamping the Dictionary background on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Sahara Sand ink.  Then I stamped several images from the retired Extreme Elements set using Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey ink.  The DSP is from the Moonlight DSP stack.  The focal image, from the Guy Greetings set, is stamped in Smoky Slate ink and then coloured with the Smoky Slate and Skin Tone Blendabilities (still love those markers!).  I die cut the focal image using the Ovals Collection Framelits and then stamped more of the images from Extreme Elements, around the edges.  I also inked the edges in Sahara Sand to add to the grungy look.

The sentiments, also from the Guy Greetings set, are stamped in Basic Gray and Lost Lagoon inks.  I fussy cut the curvy banner and used the banner punch to trim the ends of the straight one. I added some Burlap Trim and a couple of gold sequins for embellishment.  The entire card is built on a Sahara Sand card base.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment from Guy Greetings in Basic Gray and added more images from Extreme Elements in Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon inks.

Have a truly blessed Easter weekend with those you love!

To A Classic

I am on a roll with Man-cards lately, so here's another one for you! This is one of the projects that will be on offer at my All-Occasions Card Buffet next week...

Father's Day card featuring the Guy Greetings stamp set.
I love the Guy Greetings stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue.  It was one (of several!) sets that I fell immediately in love with as soon as I laid eyes on it.   Here I used the vintage car image, stamped in Early Espresso ink on Naturals Ivory card stock.  I die-cut the image using the the Ovals Collection Framelits and also cut a larger mat from Early Espresso card stock.  The pennant is simply a strip of Cherry Cobbler card stock that I cut with one of the Labels Collection Framelits to create the decorative end.

I embossed the Cherry Cobbler piece with the Argyle TIEF.  The Naturals Ivory background layer is embossed using the Pretty Print TIEF (retired) and layered on an Early Espresso card base.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso ink on a 1/2" strip of Naturals Ivory card stock and is punched on either end with the Banner punch.  The only embellishment is a bit of Early Espresso quilted satin ribbon (retired) that I have been hoarding saving for years.  Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the inside of this one.  I simply stamped Happy Father's Day in Early Espresso ink...nothing fancy...you'll have to take my word for it ;)

Now for your Weekly Deals...prices, as always, are good until Monday at midnight.  My order goes in on Sunday evening, if you want to save a little on shipping :)

A New Colour Challenge!

Happy middle of March!  Not long till this miserable winter is but a distant memory...SO ready for spring!!  Today marks the beginning of a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps...check it out:

Here is my project for the Design Team:

Father's Day card featuring the Guy Greetings stamp set
I decided this colour combo was perfect for a Man-card.  I used a piece of patterned paper from the Stacked With Love DSP stack for my background...I thought the pattern reminded me of a Phillips screwdriver!  I sponged it with So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze inks and then stamped it using the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and Basic Black ink.  The next layer began as a piece of Whisper White card stock, which I stamped repeatedly using the wrench image from the Guy Greetings stamp set and Basic Black ink.  I also sponged that layer with So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze ink  and stamped the spatter image from the Gorgeous Grunge set in metallic gold ink, before layering it on a piece of Basic Black card stock.

The focal image is stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White card stock and then punched with the 2" circle punch and layered on a 2-3/8" circle, die-cut using the Circles Collection Framelits from Basic Black card stock.  I added a bit of Basic Black baker's twine, as well as the sentiment, also from the Guy Greetings set, that I trimmed into shorter pieces so that it fit on the card better.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the Guy Greetings set in Basic Black ink as well as the wrenches again along the bottom.  I sponged lightly in So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie inks.

Why not give this colour challenge a try and join us over at Sunday Stamps?  We'd love to see your creativity!
