Baby Bitties

I'm still fighting this sinus infection, but I do want to quickly show you this cute card I designed a while back.

I just love the Itty Bitties stamp set!  It has such cute images and is so versatile!  Yes, the images are small, but that just means you can use them with some fun embellishments!  Here I've layered the stamped images on some of the Sycamore Street buttons, available for free during Sale-a-bration, to frame them and give them more presence on the card.  The DSP I've used is from the More Amore pack...not just for Valentine's Day!  The sentiment, from the Sweet Essentials set is perfect on a little banner to welcome a new addition.  With many of my friends expecting little ones in the coming months, I'm sure I'll be able to put this card to good use!

Time for more Sketch Inspiration

I am in misery.  My cold of last week has morphed into what I'm sure is a sinus infection.  Ugh!  Taking today off work isn't an option, so the doctor will have to wait until tomorrow and I'll have to make do with over-the-counter decongestants.  Since I spent most of the weekend feeling crummy I didn't get much stamping done, but I do have a couple of projects to show you this week.  Today I have the last in my series of cards using this month's inspiration sketch.  In case you missed it, here is the sketch:

I kept this one CAS, electing to use the fantastic  Sycamore Street Sale-a-bration DSP as my focal point.  I embossed using the new Honeycomb TIEF and then cut little hexagons from the DSP to fit inside.  I also used some coordinating ribbon and a button, also from the Sale-a-bration brochure.
I hope you've enjoyed this month's sketch.  I'll have a new one next weekend as March (and hopefully warmer weather) begins. In the meantime I'm going to do my best to get rid of this nasty infection!

Celebrate Monthly Sketch Inspiration

Ah....Saturday!  Love this day of the week the most!  Even better because this particular Saturday falls on a long weekend!!  Here's to extra time to get stuff done!
To start your weekend off right, I have another take on this month's sketch.  Wondering what I'm talking about?  Check out the Monthly Sketch Inspiration tab at the upper right of this page and see the sketch and a couple of samples I created with it.  Today I have another take on it...this time I've rotated the sketch to make a horizonatally oriented card.  Have a look:

One thing to remember when working with a sketch is that it is only a suggested starting point for your creativity...don't be afraid to play with it!  Here I turned the sketch on it's side and came up with a completely different look.  What do you think of that metal medallion encircling the sentiment?  Cool, eh?  It is one of the new Soda Pop Tops that I ran through my Big Shot and squished!  So easy and it doesn't hurt the Big Shot one bit!  Just open your platform up so you're using no tabs.  Put a cutting plate on the platform, lay the pop top on the plate so the open side is down, put the second cutting plate on top and run it through.  You'll feel very little resistance when rolling it through, but the result is a perfectly squished bottle cap that makes a lovely embellishment!  Try it for yourself...and while you're at it, try the sketch too!

Sentimental Celebration

Last week I featured a series of cards I did using the Feeling Sentimental Sale-a-bration stamp set.  Well, I'm not done yet!  I just love that set and had to take another crack at it, this time with a different colour scheme.  Check it out:

I don't know what it is about these stamp images, but I just can't get enough of them!  I'll be sad when Sale-a-bration ends and I can't play with them as much as I'd like.  That just means I have to get lots of use out of them in the meantime!  For this card I used DSP from two different packs:  Fan Fair and Print Poetry.  I love the way the different patterns work together with the Ferris wheel image.  There are lots of layers on this card...I just kept adding and adding stuff...I know, its a sickness LOL!  I don't think you can tell in the photo but I used my new Occasions paper piercing pack to add interest to the oval frame around the stamped image.  I also pulled out one of my new favourite sets That's the Ticket to add some vintagey embellishments.  I love how versatile that set is!  I finished it off with a bit of seam binding ribbon and a mini library clip (retired) to hold everything together.  Not exactly a simple card, but sometimes its fun to just play!

Happy Thursday...just one more day till the weekend!!  Today I have one more project in my Feeling Sentimental series to show you..and, to be honest, it's my favourite of the bunch!  Have a look:

So this time I switched it up a bit and used an image from the That's the Ticket stamp set, rather than from Vintage Verses.  I just love those cute little tickets and thought it would be the perfect accent for the Ferris wheel image.  I'm not sure if you can see it in the photo, but I also stamped the ticket image randomly all over the Cherry Cobbler panel behind the focal image to add a bit of texture and interest.  I also put my Distressing Tool to work on the edges of the Cherry Cobbler panel. I again dug into my embellie stash for some Vintage Trinkets and a (retired) mini clip.  It has been so much fun to just play with this set!  In case you missed my earlier posts on the other cards in the collection, here is a shot of the whole set:

Feeling Sentimental Ensemble

I'm really happy with the way these came together, though I don't know whether it is because I like the result or just loved having the time to play!  Either way, I had great fun getting inky!!

I stuck with the same colour scheme as yesterday's project.   This time I added a little First Edition DSP for texture and contrast, as well as a bit of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon and a little mini safety pin from the Vintage Trinkets.  I love those little bits and pieces...they're perfect for adding vintage touches to projects without adding a lot of bulk or weight.  Stop by tomorrow to see the final installment of my Sentimental Series!

Love is in the air...

...or at least that's this week's theme over at Hand Stamped Sentiments!  This weeks challenge is a photo inspiration...check it out:

I decided to design a card for this challenge using my inspiration sketch for this month.  In case you missed it, you'll find it at the top of the page on the "Monthly Sketch Inspiration" tab.  I promised I would show a design each week that uses this sketch, so here we go...

Kinda pretty, no?  I love the way the medallion image from the Madison Avenue Sale-a-bration set works with the the Lacy Brocade TIEF...it's like they were made for eachother!  Speaking of made for eachother, did you know that the medallion image fits in the smallest of the Floral Frames Framelits perfectly??  I did a little happy dance when I discovered that!!  I used a new addition to my stamp collection for the sentiment feature: the new That's the Ticket stamp set.  I am L-O-V-ing that set!  Finally, reason to use my Ticket Duo punch!  It has sat sadly neglected until now!  No longer, though!  It is going to get a workout with this fab stamp set!  I also went a little crazy with the embellies on this card...I used one of the new Designer Builder Brads and filled the centre with an In-colour Dahlia in Raspberry Ripple...it fits perfectly!  I also blinged up the stamped medallions with some of the Large Rhinestone basic gems...what's not to like about big bling?!?   Thanks for stopping by...have a happy Monday and a great week!

Today is the Day!

Welcome to the Team!

I so love welcoming new stamping friends to my Tri-City Stampers team.  This past Monday we had our monthly meeting and at it I got to welcome Mirela to my circle of stamping friends.  I am thrilled to have her as part of the group and wanted to make her a special card to mark her first team meeting.  As it happens, this card also works for this week's pattern and colour challenge over at The Friday Mash-up:

Inside View with sentiment from Workshop Words

Talk about lots of patterns!  I pulled DSP from four different packs for this card!  Isn't it cool the way they all work together?  I used my Postage Stamp punch to punch the different squares of paper, adhered them to Early Espresso card stock and then ran it through my Big Shot with the new honeycomb TIEF.  Love that folder!!  I decorated some of the squares with various little bits and bobs I had laying on my desk...lots of fun little touches. Such fun to just play!!

I just love this year's DSP offering for Sale-a-bration!  The bright colours and  bold patterns are fantastic!  I used two patterns on this design and chose my colour scheme from the paper.  I used Pool Party, Tangerine Tango, Summer Starfruit and Island Indigo with a  Sahara Sand base.  The stamped images are all from the Bloomin' Marvelous set...which is FREE during Sale-a-bration.  By the way, did you know the little butterfly in that set fits the new Bitty Butterfly punch from the Spring Catalogue??  It does.  Perfectly.  Sweet!!  The texture on the lower half of the card is from the Vine Street TIEF, which is  also available during SAB (for FREE!).  I added a touch of softness with a bit of ribbon from the Sycamore Street pack (did I mention this is FREE too??)  I am really happy with the way this turned out and how easy it was to put together.  This may just be one of my go-to designs for my SAB workshops!  Speaking of workshops, have you booked yours yet? All bundled up for gift-giving

I had great fun creating this set!  I used the Notecards with envelopes as my starting point.  Those are the best-kept secret in the catalogue...20 cards with envelopes for just $7.50...doesn't get any better than that!  By the way, the box that is holding all of the cards and envelopes is made from one of the notecards too!!  I chose my colour scheme from the Sycamore Street DSP, which is another Sale-a-bration offering.  Such fun patterns and vibrant colours!  It was easy to put together different looks for each design with such a range of colour options.  The stamp set I used is called Patterned Occasions.  I chose to cut the sentiments and images on each stamp apart to make it easier to use the two separately...I do it with all of my stamps that contain images and text on the same stamp...makes them much more versatile!  The nice thing about clear mount is that when I want to use the image and text together, I just mount them side-by-side on my block!  You might have noticed the shiny satin ribbon on several of the designs...that is yet another SAB freebie!  You receive three rolls of ribbon and 36 buttons in the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button pack!  What's not to love?!?  Sale-a-bration...starts January 22nd.  Have you got your wish list ready??

Happy 2013!!

Happy New Year!!  I hope 2013 brings health, happiness and, of course lots of rubber!!  I am celebrating with my family at Disney World, but I do have this project to show you that showcases lots of new products from the upcoming Spring Catalogue, which goes live on January 3rd.  I thought it rather appropriate to create a baby card for this brand new year!  Have a look:

Not your typical baby card, but I think it works!  I used the new Hearts A-flutter DSP...so many great patterns in there for many occasions, not just Valentine's Day...and drew my colour scheme from that.  I settled on Pool Party, Real Red, Primrose Petals and Very Vanilla.  I also finally got to use some of the fun new Soda Pop tops to highlight the Itty Bitties images...so many possibilities with these!  The gorgeous satin ribbon is from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button pack available as one of this year's Sale-a-bration offerings.  This ribbon is so pretty and very easy to work with...the bows practically tie themselves!  I added texture with the Argyle and Delicate Designs TIEFs, which I think are perfect for a baby themed card.

Itty Bitties Birthday

One of the best perks of being a Stampin' Up demonstrator is that I receive free product rewards for achieving certain career milestones.  As a Counselor, I receive a free pre-selected bundle of products each time a new catalogue comes out!  Talk about a fantastic bonus!!  One of the products I received in my bundle from the Spring Catalogue is the Itty Bitties stamp set.  Now, I have to admit, I wasn't sure I would use such tiny images  very much...boy was I wrong!  I had great fun playing with this set...check out my first project below:

Fun, huh?  I thought this card would work for either a man or a woman, and so kept the embellishments to a minimum.  I also had fun with the colour scheme of Pool Party, Summer Starfruit and Rich Razzleberry.  Not a trio of colours I would have thought to use together, but I was inspired by the gorgeous DSP in the Sale-a-bration flyer.  In fact, the strip of DSP I used on this card is from that Sycamore Street pack.  I can't believe how well Summer Starfruit works with just about everything...the trick, I have found, is to think of it as a neutral rather than a yellow.  Try it and suddenly you'll find tons of combinations you just love!

Now, tomorrow my family and I leave for Orlando and Disney!!!  We are all so excited because none of us have ever been!!  My husband and I both grew up in families for whom this kind of trip was just out of reach, so we are almost as excited as Max is.  I am going to pre-post some projects for you to enjoy while I'm gone, but know that I will be away until January 3rd, so if you've got Christmas Cash burning a hole in your pocket and you just HAVE to order from the Spring Catty the day it goes live (Jan 3rd), you can either order through my online store or email with your wish list.  I will check email when I get home and put any orders in first thing on the 4th.  Also, don't forget to check out the deals in the Online Clearance Rack...a great way to make your Christmas Cash go further!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, surrounded by loved ones.  We had a fantastic celebration, pretty much perfect in every way.  My only regret is that I didn't get any stamping time in on Christmas Day...too busy preparing a 22 lb turkey!  I did, however, find time to get down to play with my Spring Catalogue goodies yesterday afternoon.  I have to admit it did take a while to get my Mojo working again after such a long time away from creating so I turned to one of my favourite online challenge sites for inspiration.  I'm actually just in under the wire to enter over at Pals Paper Arts, so I'd better get this post done!  Here is the sketch:

I really didn't think Stampin' Up would be able to top last year's fabulous DSP offering for Sale-a-bration, but this year's is even better!  It has both vintage and modern images in a terrific combination of colours.  Here, I combined two of the more vintage patterns with the geometric hexagons and I love the way they work together.  The other new product I absolutely love is the new large rhinestones.  They are just awesome and I couldn't resist adding one to the centre of my bow for just a hint of bling!

Ready for Spring?

I know spring is a long way off, but I am all about fresh colours and flowers these days!  My Spring Catalogue and Sale-a-bration pre-order arrived this week and I finally had a bit of time last night to play with some of the new products.  Oh, I am soooo in love!  Check out this card and  gift tag ensemble I put together:

What's no to love, right??  I used a bunch of fabulous new products on these projects, but so far my favourite is the Pop-up Posies Designer Kit.  It contains enough supplies to make 9 tags and 3D flowers as well as the Just For You stamp I used on the tag.  The best part?  Its only $15.95!!!  I love it!
Other new products I used include the Honeycomb TIEF, as well as the absolutely fabulous DSP available for free during Sale-a-bration this year.  Its called Sycamore Street and has so many bright, fun colours and patterns its hard to know which ones to use first!  I also used some of the gorgeous ribbon that will also be available for free during SAB.  It is shiny and satiny and SO pretty!  On the tag I cut the layered ovals with new Ovals Collection Framelits..FINALLY  a set of nesting ovals!!
