Thinking of You

This certainly is the week of CASE'd cards! I had one for you on Monday that was inspired by my friend Michelle Suit and now today I have one that was inspired by Dena Rekow...check it out:

Thinking of you card featuring the Botanical Builder Framelits with sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts
I began with a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock and then layered 3/4" strips of Basic Gray card stock on it to get the wide stripes. I love the bold background they provide. The sentiment is stamped in Basic Gray ink right on the Whisper White base.

The flowers are die cut using the Botanical Builder Framelit dies. I used Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Wild Wasabi card stock. I added some detail to the larger leaf with the Botanical Blooms stamp set and Wild Wasbi ink. Then it was just a matter of arranging and adhering my flowers...pretty simple, really. The final touch was a few rhinestones for some sparkle.

On the inside I layered a piece of Whisper White card stock on which I stamped the sentiment from the Timeless Love stamp set in Basic Gray ink. I added another little die-cut flower and leaf and a single rhinestone.

I will be offering this card as part of my Botanical Garden class on Saturday, April 30th. Click my Upcoming Events class above to more information.

Have a great day!

Thank you Blooms for Sunday Stamps

Happy Easter! I hope you are celebrating with those you love today.

Today marks the start of a new colour challenge at Sunday Stamps...

Here is my take on the rainbow colour scheme using the the Botanical Builder bundle:

Thank you card featuring the Botanical Blooms stamp set and coordinating Botanical Builder Framelits.
For this project I turned to one of my favourite techinques: Emerging Colours. I began by sponging several colours of ink onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. I used: Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, and Tempting Turquoise. Then I stamped several of the flower images from the Botanical Blooms stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed the images using clear embossing powder. I then sponged the entire panel with Night of Navy ink. The clear embossed areas resist the ink, allowing the vibrant colour to show through. To make the colours pop even more I wiped the embossed areas clean of ink using a tissue.

Using the Botanical Builder Framelits, I die-cut several flowers and some leaves. I used Cucumber Crush card stock fo the leaves, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Tempting Turquoise for the flowers. I also punched a few small flowers using the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack...they are perfect for layering. I used some scrap gold foil sheet for the centre of the largest flower. I also die-cut the sentiment from gold foil sheets using the Greetings Thinlits. I embellished the centres of the flowers using rhinestones that I coloured using the gold Wink of Stella glitter pen to give them a more golden shine, rather than silver. Behind the sponged panel, I added a piece of gold foil sheets, off-setting it slightly. The focal panel is actually adhered square on the Night of Navy card base, but the off-kilter panel behind it gives the layout a funky twist.

Inside view with sentiment from the Lovely Amazing You stamp set
On the inside I stamped the sentiment from Lovely Amazing You in Night of Navy ink on a Whisper White panel. I added some more flowers from the Botanical Blooms set in Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo inks.

This rainbow colour challenge is so much fun...I am going to keep playing with it this week...stay tuned. In the meantime, be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects and then give it a go yourself. We'd love for you to share your work with us at Sunday Stamps this week!

Have a blessed Easter!

Wedding Blooms

Happy Monday...and happy first full day of Spring! I hope you had a great weekend. I am back to work today after March Break...always a little bit tougher to get out of bed the first day back after a week off!

This morning I have a project I designed last weekend as I was playing with the Botanical Builder Framelits...

Wedding Card featuring the Botanical Builder Framelit dies with sentiment from the Suite Sayings stamp set.
Now, I didn't set out to make a wedding card when I first sat down to design this, but it sort of evolved into one. I began by embossing a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Lovely Lace TIEF. Then layered a piece of It's My Party DSP (it's not just for birthdays, you know!) which I had die-cut using the edge die from the Botanical Builders Framelits. I added several flowers die-cut from Whisper White card stock. I added shimmer to each bloom using the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush.

The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set and is stamping in Smokey Slate ink. I punched the stamped image using the 1-3/4" circle punch and then layered it on Smokey Slate and Mint Macaron card stock circles. I added some strings of pearls from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit and some self-adhesive basic pearls. The entire card is built on a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Mint Macaron card base.

Inside view with sentiment from the For the New Two stamp set.
On the inside, I stamped a Whisper White panel using Smokey Slate ink and a sentiment from the For the New Two stamp set. I added a little flower punched using the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack, as well as a few more pearls.

Thanks for stopping by today...I hope you have a great week!
