Coppery Thanks

Happy Sunday! As hard as it is to believe, this is the last true weekend of summer. Next weekend is Labour Day, which signals the end to carefree summer days and the beginning of fall. Today also marks the beginning of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps. Check it out...

Since fall is on my mind, here is what I came up with for the Design Team:

I have to admit, the product I am most excited about in the new Holiday Catalogue is the Copper Foil Sheets. I LOVE them...especially when they're embossed. Here I first die cut one corner of the 4" x 5-1/4" panel using the Botanical Builders Framelits and then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Petal Burst TIEF. SO pretty! I layered the embossed copper sheet on a same-sized-piece of Cajun Craze card stock. The leaves are from the Vintage Leaves stamp set, I stamped one in Early Epresso ink on Cajun Craze card stock and the other I heat embossed in copper on vellum card stock. I die-cut both using the Leaflets framelits.

I added some Delightful Dijon ribbon from the 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalogue...it is so soft and has a lovely sheen...gorgeous ribbon! I needed a sentiment but didn't want to add another layer to take away from that embossed copper, so I pulled out an Expressions Natural Element (retired) from my stash...so glad I hoarded held onto some of those!

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla card stock panel on which I stamped more leaves from the Vintage Leaves stamp set in Early Espresso ink.

This sketch has so many possibilities. Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's ideas and then share your own take on it with us over at Sunday Stamps.

Have a super Sunday!

Monochromatic Fall

Whew! It is hot, hot, hot here this week! And so humid my laundry doesn't dry when I hang it on the line. I sure hope it breaks before school starts next Tuesday because my classroom is not air conditioned and the thought of being cooped up with a bunch of sweaty teenagers who are already grumpy because summer vacation is over is not exactly appealing! Pray for me people :)

Today I have a project I designed for an upcoming class that features the Vintage Leaves stamp set and coordinating Leaflets Framelits...

Thank you card featuring the Vintage Leaves stamp set with sentiment from Acorny Thank You
Have I mentioned how much I love Fall?  I don't so much love the back-to-school craziness, but I love the season itself. Normally when I design a Fall card I gravitate toward the rich oranges, reds and yellows, but for this project I decided to try a more monochromatice look. I heat embossed several leaf images from the Vitnage Leaves stamp set in gold on vellum, Tip Top Taupe and Kraft card stock and then die cut them using the Leaflets Framelits. I arranged them on a gold metallic doily, along with some gold metalic thread and adhered them to a Very Vanilla panel that I had embossed using the Woodgrain TIEF.

The striped vanilla ribbon is from the Holiday Catalogue and is gorgeously elegant. I gathered it and stapled it to the panel using the Mini Stapler. I hid the staples with some gold sequin trim and the sentiment banner, which is from the Acorny Thank You stamp set. The banner is also heat embossed in gold and die cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits. The whole card is built on a Tip Top Taupe card base.

On the inside I heat embosssed in gold more leaves and the sentiment, which is from the Lighthearted Leaves set, on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.

I have to say, I'm kinda diggin' the monochromatic look for Fall...what do you think?

Vintage Birthday Leaves

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend.  It was stamp-a-palooza here!  I spent all day Saturday in my studio designing Christmas cards for my events this Fall.  So much fun playing with new Holiday Catalogue goodies!  Speaking of which, tomorrow is THE day! The 2015 Holiday Catalogue goes live tomorrow morning, so get your Wish List ready :)

Today I have a project that uses products from the Annual and the Holiday catalgoues...

Fall-themed Birthday card featuring the Vintage Leaves and Tag Talk stamp sets
I'm kind of on a gold kick lately.  Many of the cards I designed on the weekend feature touches of gold and this one is no exception.  Good thing it's trendy right now!  On this one I stamped the leaves from the Vintage Leaves stamp set in the new Basic Black Archival ink and then die cut them using the Leaflets Framelits. The I took my Versamark pad directly to the leaves, applying it sparingly to the edges.  I sprinkled on some gold embossing powder and heated.  I love the result...

The striped gold foil DSP I used is from the Winter Wonderland pack in the Holiday catty.  I SO love that paper!!  The Whisper White background panel is embossed using the new Softly Falling TIEF.  The sentiment label is from the Tag Talk stamp set and is punched with the coordinating Bracket Label punch.  I layerd the punched label on a 1-3/4" gold foil circle, which is then layered on a 2" Basic Black circle.  The only embellishment I added was a little bow of gold Cording Trim.

On the inside I simply stamped more leaves, leaving plenty of space for happy birthday wishes.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow.  I'll be showcasing more Holiday Catalogue products AND have a new technique video to share with you!

In the meantime, here are the products I used to create this project:

Fall in the Air?

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a fabulous weekend :)  We are in the midst of a heat wave here...very hot and humid.  I'm so glad I get to spend this week by the lake at my parents' house.  Can't think of any better place to be in this weather :)
Today I have a decidedly Fallish card for you, along with a new how-to video.  Check it out:

Fall-themed Thank You card featuring the Vintage Leaves and Gorgeous Grunge stamp sets and using the Stampin' Mist Ghosting technique.
I have to admit, Fall is my very favourite season.  I love the rich colours and cool crisp air.  Here I've tried to capture some of the vibrance of the autumn leaves by using a colour pallette of Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso, along with touches of gold.

The maple leaf image is from the Vintage Leaves stamp set.  I also used one of the spatter images from Gorgeous Grunge and a sentiment from Endless Thanks.

On the inside I used the same maple leaf stamp with Early Espresso ink on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock:

The complete how-to is in the video below:

Celebrate!

Happy Tuesday :)  Today feels like a Monday because we just enjoyed a long weekend here in Ontario. (I hope you also had a great weekend!) But it is most definitely Tuesday, which means it is time for new Weekly Deals...be sure to check them out below.  Today I have a decidedly Fall-ish card for you.

Any-occasion card featuring the Vintage Leaves stamp set and Natural Expressions Wood Elements.
I really love the look of an image stamped on coloured card stock in the same shade of ink.  The tone-on-tone watermark effect is especially effective with the beautiful leaf images in the Vintage Leaves stamp set. Here I stamped using Mossy Meadow ink on card stock of the same colour.  I added some shimmer with spatters from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and metallic gold ink (retired), and some sparkle with a few gold sequins.

The sentiment is one of the Natural Expressions Wood Elements, which is just perfect for an earthy Fall look.  I added some Linen Thread and mounted the card front on a Kraft card base.

Because I wanted this card to be suitable for any occasion, I omitted an inside greeting and simply stamped more leaves in Mossy Meadow ink.

Here are the products I used to create this project:

Glorious and Free

Happy Canada Day!  Today is the day we celebrate the best country in the world.  I am so blessed to call Canada home.  I designed a special card to celebrate...

Canada Day card featuring the Vintage Leaves stamp set with sentiment created using the Rotary Alphabet stamp.
Canada is almost synonymous with the maple leaf, in fact, for decades our national anthem was called The Maple Leaf Forever.  What better way to pay tribute to this great country than with the maple leaf image from the Vintage Leaves stamp set?  Here I stamped it in Memento Black ink and then coloured it using alcohol markers for a vivid red.  I die cut the coloured leaf using the Leaflets Framelits.  I spotlit the die-cut  leaf using gold foil card stock.  I used the Woodgrain TIEF to add texture to the Whisper White background panel before mounting it on a card base of thick Whisper White card stock.

The sentiment, taken from our national anthem, is stamped using the Rotary Alphabet stamp...a must-have for every stamper, as it allows one to create any customized sentiment.  I trimmed each word, adhering them individually and slightly crooked (yep, did it on purpose!).  The only embellishment is three little gold sequins in the lower left corner to add a little sparkle.
I hope that where ever you are celebrating Canada Day this year, whether at home or abroad, you are doing so surrounded by the love of family and friends.  Happy Birthday Canada!!

Ombre Vintage Leaves

Today I want to show you one of the projects I made this weekend whilst playing with some new products.  I was inspired by this week's challenge over at the Friday Mash-up, which was to use an ombre effect and/or an embellishment cluster.

I did both!  Check it out:

Thank you card featuring the Vintage Leaves stamp set with sentiment from Happy Notes.
I SO love the leaf images in the Vintage Leaves set!  So detailed and intricate!  I can't wait to make fabulous Fall projects this year!  To achieve this look, I began with an Early Espresso card base and adhered 1-1/4" x 4" strips of (from bottom to top): Delightful Dijon, Hello Honey, Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight.  Then I stamped the leaf images randomly using Early Espresso ink.  So easy and so cool!

To create my embellishment cluster I first stamped the sentiment label from the Happy Notes stamp set on Very Vanilla card stock using Early Espresso ink.  I die cut it using the Lots of Labels Framelits (which can be purchased in a bundle with the Happy Notes set for 15% off!).  I stamped three leaf images on three different shades of yellow card stock and die cut them using the Leaflets Framits (also available in a 15% off bundle!).  I adhered them to the back of the sentiment label and added a bit of Burlap trim.  The finishing touch was some new gold metallic thread...oh, how I love this stuff!  It takes some patience to get it to cooperate, but it is so worth the effort!

On the inside I adhered a piece of Very Vanilla card stock on which I had stamped more leaves in Early Espresso ink.

This ombre look is so easy to achieve...just choose different shades of the same colour and you're good to go!  So many more ideas floating around in this little brain of mine...and so little time to stamp!
