Christmas Cheer

I can't think of a better way to keep cool during this crazy September heat wave, than to stamp some Christmas cards. Today's project is one I designed as part of my Fall Fling Stamp 'n' Scrap Retreat coming up in October.

Can't you almost taste the pepperminty goodness of a cup of candy cane hot chocolate? I love that Stampin' Up! brought out a new seasonal stamp set that coordinates with the Coffee Cups framelits in the Annual Catalogue. It makes those dies so much more versatile! Here I've used the dies to cut the cup from a piece of Be Merry DSP. I used another pattern from the same pack to cut the sleeve that is around the cup and the circle in the background. (Be sure to read right to the end of this post for some exciting news about this DSP pack!). I stamped the whipped cream in Crumb Cake ink on Whisper White card stock and once again used the Coffee Cups framelits to die-cut it.

The sentiment is from the Merry Cafe stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green inks. I used the Layering Circles dies to die cut both the stamped image and the Cherry Cobbler card stock layer behind it. The pine boughs are die-cut from Garden Green card stock using the Christmas Staircase thinlits. I created my own sparkly embellishment using the Seasonal Tags Framelits to die cut the snowflake from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper and added a clear Faceted Gem to the centre.

The background is Whisper White card stock, embossed using the Brick Wall TIEF and then layered on a Cherry Cobbler card stock base. I added a some Cherry Cobbler stitched ribbon for added texture.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from the Merry Cafe set in Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler and then added a cut little coffee cup stamped in Crumb Cake ink, stamped off once.

I so love this stamp set and the many possibilities it offers for seasonal coffee/tea/hot chocolate themed cards! Anything that makes products I already own (like the Coffee Cups Framelits) go further is a winner in my book!

Love and Hugs for SS

Happy Sunday! What a hot weekend it has been here! We actually have a heat warning issued...and it's the first weekend of Fall! I am sooo ready for cooler, crisp air.

Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps. Check it out:

Here is my project for the Design Team:

As many of you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and in recognition of that, my Bundle of the Month class is featuring the Ribbon of Courage bundle. Not only that, but I am donating 100% of the class fees and commission from the sale of this bundle to breast cancer research. So many people I care about have been affected by breast cancer and I want to do something to help eradicate that horrible disease. I designed this week's card for us to make as one of the projects at my fundraiser.

I began with a piece of Fresh Florals DSP in Powder Pink as my background panel. The ribbon image is heat embossed using clear embossing powder on Whisper White card stock and then sponged all over with Powder Pink ink. I added a touch of Flirty Flamingo around the edges for contrast against the pink background paper. I used my Flirty Flamingo marker to highlight some of the flowers in the ribbon.

The sentiment, which is from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set, is stamped in Smokey Slate ink and then overstamped with the heart in Powder Pink. I used the Stitched Shapes framelits to die-cut the sentiment and then layered it on a scalloped square cut from Smokey Slate card stock using the Layering Squares framelits. Now, how able that cute little silver metal heart? It uses the faux metal technique! I stamped the heart image using Versamark ink on silver foil card stock, heat embossed in silver and then die-cut it using the coordinating framelits. Voila...instant "metal" embellishments! Besides that, the only other embellishment on this card is some Smokey Slate gingham ribbon. The card is built on a Smokey Slate card stock base.

On the inside, I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped another sentiment from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set in Smokey Slate ink and, once again, overstamped it with the heart in Powder Pink.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects and then create your own to share with us. We'd love to see your work!

Painted Autumn Crate

Well, the calendar says September and Fall is supposed to begin on Friday, but you certainly wouldn't know it to look outside! It is downright HOT here this week...hotter than it has been all summer! Not the kind of weather conducive to learning with a bunch of sweaty teenagers in an unairconditioned classroom...yuck! I'm ready for cool crisp days and chilly nights.

Today I have a fall project for you, despite the weather. It is one that we will be creating at my Suite of the Month class this Friday...

This cute little crate is filled with six 3" x 3" notecards and envelopes. They fit perfectly in the little crate made with the Wood Crate Framelits. I used Crumb Cake card stock embossed with the Pinewood Planks TIEF to construct the crate. I stamped the sunflower image from the Painted Harvest stamp set using Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Soft Suede inks and then fussy-cut it out and adhered it to the front of the crate, along with some stamped and punched leaves and half of a foil snowflake (vanilla side out).

Each card is cut from thick Very Vanilla card stock, so they're nice and sturdy. On each one I cut a 2-3/4" square of DSP which I then layered on a 2-7/8" square of Early Espresso card stock. The sentiment is from the One Big Meaning stamp set and is stamped in Early Espresso ink. I punched it out using the 2" circle punch and then layered it on a copper foil circle punched with the Starburst punch. I added some stamped leaves using Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green inks.

Here I used a smaller sentiment image, also from the One Big Meaning set, punching it with the Classic Label punch. I added some more stamped/punched leaves and a little Linen Thread bow.

For this design I stamped the sentiment from the Painted Harvest stamp set in Early Espresso ink, punched it with the Pretty Label punch and then stamped the leaves in Cajun Craze ink (stamped off once). I layered the label on a copper foil label punched with the Everyday Label punch.

I love the 3" x 3" size...they make cute little notes to tuck in with a gift or to attach to a bottle of wine. This little crate is the perfect way to package them to gift to someone special.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!
