Flowers for Mom

Happy Tuesday...and happy May! I sure wish I could say the weather here feels like May, but it is still COLD! Come on spring...bring on the warm temperatures and sunshine!
With Mother's Day approaching, I thought I'd share an easy fun-fold card I designed to show Mom just how much I appreciate her...

I used some of the pretty Best Dressed DSP, both to create the background and from which to cut my flowers. I love the colours in this paper...so pretty and spring-like!
The sentiment I chose is from the Strong and Beautiful stamp set and is stamped in Basic Gray ink. I used the Stitched Nested Labels dies to die-cut my label and then added fussy-cut flowers to decorate it.

The best thing about this easy fun-fold is that it folds completely flat and fits in a standard envelope for mailing. Now, this particular design doesn't allow much room for a hand-written message, so I would suggest adding a Whisper White panel to the back side of the card base. That way there will be lots of space to write a heartfelt tribute to the woman who raised you.

I will be demonstrating this card in today's Live @ Five video over on my Facebook business page. Check it out for the complete how-to, include measurements and scoring information. If you miss the live broadcast, you can catch the replay shortly after on my YouTube channel. While you're there, be sure to subscribe so you don't miss a single video!

Thanks for stopping by...have a great week!

Ornate Style for Mom and a Blog Hop

Happy Wednesday! Are you surprised to see me today? If I'm posting mid-week it can only mean one thing...it is time for another Stamping Symphony blog hop!

This month we are all about cards for Mom. In these days of social distancing it will be even more important to recognize ALL of the moms in our lives this Mother's Day. Check out this super clean and simple card I made using the Ornate Style stamp set...

I wanted this card to be all about that gorgeous floral image, so I kept it super clean. I first stamped the image using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock. Then, using Stampin' Blends, I coloured the image. You can check out the supply list below for all of the colours I used. I also added some shimmer using Wink of Stella (my guilty pleasure!)

I die-cut the coloured image using the Stitched Rectangles dies...I love that there is stitching detail on both the die-cut and the negative...it makes for an easy frame for this image...no layering required!
I layered both pieces on a Mint Macaron card stock base, adding some soft and pretty Mint Macaron ribbon and a few Gilded Gems. The sentiment is from the coordinating Ornate Thanks stamp set, is stamped in black ink and punched using the Classic Label punch.

On the inside, I added a Whisper White card stock panel on which I stamped a sentiment from the Strong and Beautiful stamp set as well as a daisy from the Ornate Style set. So simple and pretty!

Be sure to check out the other blogs in this month's hop...I have so many talented stampers in my Stamping Symphony family!

Pleased as Punch Flower Pot Gift Card Holder

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Around here it was a busy one, but then, they're ALL busy! I spent some quality time in my studio playing with the new Pleased as Punch Designer Series Paper from the Coordination Product Release. I have to say...I can't get enough of that stuff! So many fun possibilities! Check out this cute project I designed...

Now, who wouldn't love to get a pretty pot of tulips, especially in the dead of a Canadian winter?? These tulips, punched from the Pleased as Punch DSP using the Tulip Builder punch, are so colourful and pretty, they were begging to be arranged in a pretty pot. The best part is that this pot holds a secret...

It's a gift card holder! How perfect would this be to give on Mother's Day or a special birthday...or even as a teacher gift? Thanks to the punched tulips and leaves, it is super-easy to put together and the only stamping is the sentiment.

I'll be demonstrating this fun project in this week's Tuesday Live @ Five video over on my Facebook page tomorrow at 5 pm ET. If you can't join me live you can catch the replay over on my YouTube channel or on the Free Video Tutorials page found in the right sidebar.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Have a spectacular week and be sure to swing by again this Saturday for our monthly Stamping Symphony blog hop.

Beauty Abounds for Mom

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend and a happy St. Patrick's Day. We had a good one here, as my mom and dad came down for a quick visit. This is the first time I've been able to see my dad since his health scare last fall and it was SO good to see him doing so well. His new knee works like a charm and his health has improved tremendously. I am so thankful for the chance to enjoy a meal with them.

This week's featured product is the Beauty Abounds bundle from the Occasions Catalogue...

I have to say, this set of dies is incredible! Such detailed images and TWENTY dies in the set! Now, today's card uses only the stamp set, which is fabulous in itself...check out this beauty:

If you've been following me for a while you likely know that I LOVE texture stamps and this set has several. My favourites are the bokeh dot images which create cool bubble-like effects. On this card I used both bokeh images as well as the spatter stamp to create a unique background.  I'll be demonstrating this card, along with two others in my Tuesday Live @ Five video tomorrow on my Facebook page. In the meantime, here's a close-up of the focal image...

I absolutely love the texture and depth those stamps create! The sentiment on this one is from the Strong and Beautiful stamp set, which is fast-becoming a favourite of mine. So many wonderful inspiring sentiments to choose from in that set! I used another one of them on the inside of this card...

I so love this sentiment because it applies to just about every woman I know in one way or another. I am so blessed to have amazingly strong women in my life and this sentiment is one I will use over and over again.

I hope you'll join me live tomorrow afternoon, but if you can't you can catch the replay on my Video Tutorials tab at the top of this page or on my YouTube channel.

Thanks for stopping by today...have a spectacular week!
