Wood Textures Note

Happy Friday-Eve! Almost the weekend...wahoo!! I hope you are having a good week. Yesterday my son and I tackled organizing and purging his playroom. What a job that was! It took us the entire day, but both of us are thrilled with the result. First thing this morning, before even heading downstairs for breakfast, he went in and sat down and said "Ahhh...I love this". Now we'll see how long it stays neat and organized!

Today I have another of the projects we'll be making at tomorrow night's Suite of the Month class. As you're likely aware, this month I am featuring the Wood Textures Suite...

I love the homespun vibe of this card. The woodgrain background definitely sets the stage on this one. I used one of the many options in the Wood Textures DSP pack and heat embossed in white the floral image from the Wood Words stamp set. Then I layered half of a Delicate White Doily over top, ensuring that the floral image was peeking out from behind.

The rooster and sun images are also from the Wood Words stamp set and are stamped in Night of Navy and So Saffron inks respectively. I used a 2" circle punch to punch the stamped images and then layered it on a punched starburst in Night of Navy card stock. I layered that on a 2-1/4" circle in So Saffron. The sentiment, also from the Wood Words stamp set, is stamped in Night of Navy ink on Whisper White card stock. I used lots of embellishments on this card to help give that homespun flavour. The 1/2" gingham ribbon in Night of Navy is fantastic and super-easy to tie into a bow. I also added some copper accents with metallic thread behind the focal image and a few scattered copper sequins. The final touch was a little wooden heart from the Hearts and Stars Elements.

I kept the inside fairly clean to allow lots of room to write. I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the floral image in Night of Navy ink in opposite corners.

It's not too late to get in on my class tomorrow evening. Click HERE to visit my events page and then click RSVP to reserve your seat!

Rustic Birthday

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week is going well. I can't believe we're already into the third week of summer holidays...where did the past two weeks go?? So much to do and so little time before the school bell rings again in September!
Today I have one of the projects I designed for my upcoming Wood Textures Suite class. It is super-simple, but I love it:

See? I told you it was simple...but that copper embossing on the wood textured DSP...*swoon*...love it! To create this look I simply stamped the floral image from the Wood Words stamp set several times on the DSP using Versamark ink. I sprinkled it with copper embossing powder and then heated to reveal the beautiful coppery shine. I layered the embossed panel on an Early Espresso card stock base.

The sentiment is a single stamp in the Label me Pretty stamp set. I stamped it in Versamark ink on Very Vanilla card stock and once again heat embossed in copper. I punched the label using the coordinating Pretty Label punch. I matted the label on a copper foil oval that I die-cut using the Stitched Shapes framelits. The only embellishment on this quick and easy card is a little bow made from 1/4" Copper Trim.

On the inside of the card I added a Very Vanilla panel on which I stamped a sentiment from the Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set and more of the floral image from the Wood Words set using Early Espresso ink.

This card has a huge WOW factor thanks to the gorgeous copper embossing, yet is quick and easy to put together. Gotta love that!

Thanks a Bunch

Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having a good week! Today I have one of the projects that got a ton of attention at my catalogue launch event last Friday. It features products from the new Wood Textures Suite...

I'm not sure what it is about copper and wood textures I love so much, but the combination just makes me happy! Here I used two different patterns from the Wood Textures DSP stack. I am loving the weathered paint look. I stamped the floral collage image from the Wood Words stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed it using copper embossing powder right on the DSP. I then used Peekaboo Peach, Pear Pizzazz and Powder Pink markers to colour the images in.

The sentiment, which is also from the Wood Words stamp set, is also heat embossed in copper, punched with the 1-1/4" circle punch and then layered on a 1-3/8" circle punched from copper foil. I added some 1/4" copper trim...soooo in love with that stuff... for added texture.

On the inside I added a Whisper White card stock panel and once again heat embossed and coloured the floral collage image.

This card is such a wow, yet so easy to pull together, thanks to the coordinating products in the Wood Textures Suite. One of my favourite things about Stampin' Up!, in fact, what drew me to their products initially, is the way everything coordinates. The new catalogue continues their trademark coordination while offering fantastic new products. If you haven't yet received a copy of the new 2017/18 Annual Catalogue, are in Canada and don't currently have a demonstrator I would be more than happy to send you one free of charge. Drop me an email requesting one and I will get it out to you ASAP.

Have a terrific Tuesday!
