My Valentine

Happy Saturday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. I don't normally post on Saturdays, but I wanted to show you one last Valentine's project, just in case you are looking for some last minute inspiration.  This is one we made at my Love Blossoms Suite class last week:

Valentine's card featuring the Bloomin' Love stamp set and Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit
I wanted to create a card that was a little more on the masculine side, as all of the other projects we made were pretty and pink and girlie. I kept my colour scheme neutral, going with Crumb Cake, Whisper White and gold. I began with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, over which I layered a same-sized piece of gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. The trick is to apply the adhesive behind the little gold hearts so it is not visible through the vellum. I die-cut a label, using the Lots of Labels Framelits, from the Love Blossoms DSP stack. The gold foil heart is from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit. I stamped a sentiment fromt the Bloomin' Love stamp set using white Staz On ink. Then it was time to embellish!

I used some gold 5/8" stain ribbon, some white corrugated hearts (punched and die-cut using the Sweetheart punch and the (retired) Hearts Collection Framelits), some little wooden hearts and a few white and gold sequins, both from the Love Blossoms Embellishment kit. I love all the little details these embellishments add!

On the inside, I stamped the banner from the Bloomin' Love stamp set in Crumb Cake ink and then heat embossed the sentiment in gold. I used the Large Numbers Framelits to die-cut the banner and popped it up using dimensionals. I added a few little gold foil hearts punched with the Confetti Hearts punch.

This card was definitely a hit with my class participants and might just find it's way into the hands of one of my boys tomorrow!  Have a super Saturday...be sure to stop by tomorrow for a new sketch challenge from Sunday Stamps!

Bloomin' Love XOXO

Whew...what a week this has been! Between my hubby and I being sick, unexpectedly having to purchase a new car (and all of the headaches that entails!) and the start of a new semester at school, I am SO ready for a weekend!
This weekend is Valentine's Day, so I thought I would give you a little inspiration, just in case there is some stamping in your near future. Check this one out:

Valentine's card featuring the Bloomin' Heart Thinlits Dies and the Bloomin' Love stamp set.
I used several products from the Love Blossoms suite on this project. I die-cut the heart from Blushing Bride glimmer paper using the Bloomin' Heart Thinlits die.  How I love the intricate detail of this die cut! I added some little flowers that I stamped using Blushing Bride ink and die cut using the little flower dies that are included with the heart. The background DSP is from the Love Blossoms DSP stack. I matted it with some Rose Red card stock and layered it on a Blushing Bride card base that I had stamped all over with some of the flowers from the Bloomin' Love stamp set.

The sentiment banner is also from the Bloomin' Love set and is stamped in Crumb Cake ink and fussy cut out. (Now that I have purchased the Large Numbers Framelits, I can use the coordinating die to cut it much quicker!) The sentiment itself is stamped in Rose Red ink. That sweet little bow and the strings of pearls are from the Love Blossoms Embellishments kit...so pretty! I added a bit of extra bling with some rhinestones in the centres of the flowers.

On the inside, I stamped the banner again using Crumb Cake ink and added another sentiment from the Bloomin' Love set in Rose Red ink.

This one is going to someone special this weekend!

A Little Weekend Love

Happy weekend!!  I hope you've had a good week.  I've been feeling a little under the weather, but I'm hoping it doesn't develop into anything more than that. There are so many nasty bugs around at this time of year!
To celebrate the weekend I thought I'd show you the card I made using the Bloomin' Heart die-cut that I made back in November at the On-Stage Local event I attended. It took me a while to get around to doing something with it, but I'm liking the end result...

Friendship card featuring products from the Love Blossoms Suite in the new Occasions Catalogue
I began by layering my die-cut heart (which, by the way was cut from the Love Blossoms DSP stack) on a piece of textured Basic Gray card stock I had in my stash. (The textured card stock retired ages ago but I still have a few odd pieces sitting around!) I like the way the texture in the card stock works with the pattern on the DSP die-cut. From there I created a collage of various products. I used a tag punched from another pattern in the Love Blossoms stack using the Ornate Tag Topper Punch. I also used a small silver metallic doily for some shine. The sentiment is from the Bloomin' Love stamp set, as is the banner image. I stamped the banner in Basic Gray ink and then heat embossed the sentiment in silver. I fussy cut the banner.

The Blushing Bride satin ribbon and that sweet little Rose Red satin bow are from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit...so many good things in there! The little bow comes on an antiqued gold paper clip, but since that didn't work with my colour scheme, I removed the bow and adhered it to my tag with a glue dot. The final touch was a string of pearls below the ribbon and a few odd pearls scattered around. The entire card is built on a thick Whisper White card base.

Inside view with sentiment from the Rose Wonder stamp set.
On the inside I heat embossed the sentiment from the Rose Wonder stamp set in silver and then added a wee flower from the Bloomin' Love set. I used Rose Red ink for the outline and Blushing Bride to fill it in. The stem is stamped in Smokey Slate ink.

I hope your weekend is super and offers lots of time for stamping!

Love is in the air...

I know Christmas is barely behind us and the winter blahs have started to set in, but it is time to start thinking about Valentine's Day! Today's new colour challenge from Sunday Stamps is sure to have you feeling the love...check it out:

Here is my project for the Design Team, featuring some of my FAVOURITE new products from the upcoming Occasions Catalogue...

Wedding/Anniversary/Valentine's card featuring the Bloomin' Heart Thinlit die and Bloomin' Love stamp set (available January 5th!!)

Isn't that die-cut heart just to (pardon the pun) die for???  It is simply gorgeous and, with the Precision Base Plate and new Die Brush, cuts like a dream. No more dryer sheets or waxed paper for this girl!  Woohoo!!  I am in love with both of these products and how much easier they make my life. That die brush is THE BOMB...where has that puppy been all my life? So many rolls of waxed paper could have been spared if that nifty little tool had come into my life sooner.
Anyhow, on to the project. To achieve the gradient of colour on the heart, I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and then sponged Blushing Bride, Rose Red and Crumb Cake before die-cutting my heart. MUCH easier than trying to sponge that delicate die-cut after the fact. I added even more yummyness by brushing the whole thing with my Wink of Stella glitter pen. Oh. My. Gorgeousness. The photo really doesn't do it justice. The entire heart just shimmers and sparkles...it is simply heavenly.

To make the heart pop more against the Crumb Cake background I cut a second heart from Whisper White card stock and layered it behind the sponged one, offsetting it slightly. I did the same thing with the "love" die-cut, cutting one from gold glimmer paper and then one from Whisper White card stock on which to layer it. The sentiment is from the Bloomin' Love stamp set and is stamped in Rose Red ink. I used some Sahara Sand 7/8" Lace Trim and a few pearls by way of embellishment.

On the inside I stamped the floral heart image from the Bloomin' Love set in Blushing Bride ink. The sentiment is from the For the New Two stamp set and is stamped in Crumb Cake ink.

I am so loving this colour palette...stay tuned for more projects to get you in the mood for all things Valentine's :) In the meantime, give it a go yourself...it is a sure way to beat the winter blahs.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects and post your completed card over at Sunday Stamps.
