Oh, the Anticipation...

...of a new catalogue!! One more sleep until the new 2016/17 Annual Catalogue goes live and I am like a kid on Christmas Eve! So many amazing new products I can't wait to get my hands on. Now, this also means that today is the LAST DAY to order retiring products from the Occasions and 2015/16 Annual Catalogues...don't be disappointed and miss out on those items you've been meaning to pick up.
Now for a little more of what you can expect to see in the new catty...

Isn't that colour fantastic? It is the new In-colour called Sweet Sugarplum. It looks amazing paired with Mint Macaron and another new In-colour called Emerald Envy. I used the new Swirly Bird stamp set to create the flowers. To get the ombre look I first inked the stamp in Sweet Sugarplum and then daubed Rich Razzleberry around the edges of the stamp before stamping on Whisper White card stock. The leaves are stamped in Mint Macaron ink and the veins are added in Emerald Envy.

I added a hint of Pool Party spatters in the background, stamping off once before stamping on the card stock for a soft look. The image is die-cut using the new Layering Squares Framelits. Now, I'll admit, I didn't think I needed those, especially since I already have the current Squares Framelits. However, once again, I was wrong! These new dies layer beautifully, leaving narrow borders AND there is a full set of scalloped squares as well as the regular ones. This set is like two sets in one! Here I layered a plain Mint Macaron square behind my stamped one and then added a scalloped Emerald Envy square. Love this look! I adhered the layered squares to a piece of Sweet Sugarplum card stock embossed with the Softly Falling TIEF. I added some silver foil die-cut swirls from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits and mounted it all on a Mint Macaron card base. The sentiment, from the Endless Thanks set, is stamped in Emerald Envy ink and punched using the new Duet Banner Punch. The only embellishments are a few clear sequins for a bit of sparkle.

On the inside I stamped the flowers and leaves again in the same manner I did on the front. I omitted a sentiment so that I would have lots of room to write my thoughts.

Now, I'm off to finalize my wishlist for my first new catty order tomorrow...have a great day!!

Technique Overload

I was about to type happy Wednesday, when I realized that it is actually Thursday! This short week has me seriously confused! I spent some time last night playing with my new favourite set...

Now, could I have used any more techniques on this one?  I have been away from my studio pretty much all month, so I guess I subconsciously felt like I needed to make up for lost time. I began by creating an ombre effect, sponging a piece of Whisper White card stock with Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral, Watermelon Wonder and Flirty Flamingo inks...I love the way these four shades are made for each other!

Then I used the Stampin' Mist ghosting technique (see my video tutorials for more on this one) to stamp the subtle, bleached out swirls. I then stamped using the same swirl image, with Peekaboo Peach to add the watermark look. Next I created a bit of a Bokeh look with some Whisper White Craft ink and various-sized circles. I love the way these different techniques combine to add depth and interest the to background. The final touch on the background panel was some embossed gold spatters.

I die-cut the scribbly swirl from gold foil sheets using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. I added the die-cut "you" in gold glimmer and a stamped sentiment from the new Thoughtful Banners set. The only embellishments are a few gold sequins.

On the inside I stamped a few more swirls that I inked with Peekaboo Peach ink and then daubered with a bit of Calypso Coral. The sentiment is again from the Thoughtful Banners set and is punched with the new Duet Banner punch.

Can you believe the new catty goes live in less than a week?? If you don't yet have your own copy and don't already have a Canadian demonstrator, be sure to drop me a line and I'll send one out to you free of charge. In the meantime, start saving...you are going to have a LONG wishlist!

Did You Miss Me??

WOW! I have been AWOL the last week. This month has been completely crazy and isn't over yet. Thank goodness I had the foresight not to schedule classes this month...WAY too much going on. This past weekend was a long weekend, here in Canada, and I spent it in Virginia with my bestie. It was SOOO good to finally be in the same room together...much easier to give hugs that way than over FaceTime! We had a BLAST together...I can't wait till she comes to help me celebrate my birthday in June!

Last night I finally had a few minutes to head down to my studio to do some stamping. It has been a LOOOONNNGGG time since I inked up some rubber...I almost forgot how! I cracked open some new products from the upcoming Annual Catalogue...check it out..

Isn't that colour combo yummy?? Who knew that Night of Navy and Crumb Cake would be such a dynamic duo? The colour geniuses at Stampin' Up!, that's who!! I used the DSP from the Affectionately Yours specialty DSP pack as my inspiration. It is GORGEOUS and has hints of copper...more to come on that stuff!  I also used two other products from the Affectionately Yours Suite on page 44-45 of the new Annual Catalogue:  the Floral Affection TIEF and the Love & Affection stamp set.
I began by embossing a 3"x4" piece of Crumb Cake card stock using the Floral Affection folder. I added some sparkle by brushing the clear Wink of Stella over the raised image.

The sentiment is from the Love & Affection set and is stamped in Night of Navy ink. I die-cut the word "you" from Night of Navy card stock using the Hello You Thinlits.

I added a bit of (retired) Night of Navy satin ribbon and a metal-rimmed pearl. Both the embossed layer and the DSP are matted with Night of Navy card stock and then mounted on a Crumb Cake card base.

On the inside I stamped some of the flower and leaf images from the Love and Affection set...they are so easy to layer and create unique bouquets because they are photopolymer. I omitted a sentiment on the inside because I have A LOT to say when I send this one!

Thanks for stopping by to check in today after my lengthy silence. I hope you have a great week!
