Hand Penned Fun Fold

Happy Tuesday! I hope you are having a good week so far. I am in the home stretch of the school year...one week from today I am DONE! I can honestly say, this has been the most challenging year, by far, of my 25-year career. I am very much looking forward to a summer away from screens, Google Classroom and talking to avatars! Bring on sunshine, time outdoors and, of course lots of stamping!

Some big things happening this week....

Now for this week's project share...

The Hand Penned Petals Suite is one of my absolute must-haves from the new Annual Catalogue. The stamp/die bundle is fabulous and the Designer Paper pack is to die for! I have had SO much fun playing with these products and will be featuring tons of samples on my social media platforms all week long. Check out this pretty fun fold...

fun fold card

This fold is called an Arrow Fold and is a super-easy way to create a wow card in minutes. The design requires just a half sheet of card stock to from the base of the card and then what ever additional layers you wish to use to decorate it. I used Highland Heather for my card base and then layered a piece of Hand Penned Designer Paper. The stamped floral image is stamped in Basic Grey ink and then coloured using Stampin' Blends. The label is die-cut using the Tasteful Labels dies. Here's a closer look...

fun fold card

The coolest thing about this card is how it stands up and really highlights the focal image, thanks to the triangular shape that draws the eye inwards.

The inside of the card also features the triangular shape. I opted to leave it clean to allow more space to write a greeting, but the white space may be stamped using more floral images and/or another sentiment.

I'll be demonstrating this card in today's Live @ Five video over on my Facebook business page. Come and join me for the live demonstration or check out the replay later this evening on my YouTube channel. I will include all of the measurements in the video description so that you can give this fabulous fun fold a go!

Sweet Ice Cream and a Summery Blog Hop

Happy Tuesday! Can you believe we are already half-way through June?? As always, the middle of the month means our Stamping Symphony Blog Hop! This month we are celebrating the arrival of summer with projects that feature our gorgeous Designer Paper. Check out this summery fun-fold card featuring the Sweet Ice Cream bundle and Hand Penned DSP...

summer blog hop

I couldn't resist pulling out my Ombre Specialty Paper to punch my ice cream scoops. I just love the icy quality the glimmer in the paper adds...almost good enough to eat! I used a colour combo of Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Pool Party and Crumb Cake. Talk about a yummy palette! This fun fold is one I just learned...so new that I have no idea what it is called. It is a simpler variation on a side-step card that requires just some simple scoring to create. I'll be demonstrating it in my Tuesday Live @ Five video today at 5 pm ET over on my Facebook business page...come and see for yourself just how easy this one is to make!

summer blog hop

Here's a view of the side...lots of depth created with this fold...and it folds flat for mailing in a standard envelope!

There is plenty of room on the inside for a stamped and/or written message.

Sweet Strawberry Season

Happy Tuesday! I hope your week has gotten off to a good start. Here in Southern Ontario we are in the midst of a heat wave, which is rather uncommon for this time of year. One major bonus of the heat is that it has brought on strawberry season a couple of weeks early! There is truly nothing like the sweetness of fresh-picked strawberries. When I was a teenager, my very first summer job was at a pick-your-own berry farm and the best perk was unlimited access to all the fresh strawberries I wanted while at work. So yummy!

I have been waiting for strawberry season to share the Sweet Strawberry bundle with all of you. Although it has been in the January-June Mini for months, the punch has been unavailable for a significant portion of that time, so it almost feels like this is a brand new product! Check out this fun card I made using the punch and coordinating stamp set...

handmade card

I am absolutely LOVING this card! The white embossing on black card stock makes the images and sentiment pop! I used some of the new Pattern Party Host-exclusive DSP, both for the background and to stamp and punch my berries and leaves. The background panel is inked in Poppy Parade for a fabulous red buffalo plaid look. The berries are stamped in Poppy Parade on another pattern from the Pattern Party pack and punched using the Strawberry Builder punch. I stamped the leaves and stems in black ink on yet another pattern from the pack, also punching them with the coordinating punch. Here's a closer look...

The Basic White panel on the front of the card is embossed using the new Checks and Dots embossing folder. The sentiment label is die-cut using the Potted Succulents dies. I added some white baker's twine and a few rhinestones for a little sparkle.

On the inside of the Poppy Parade card base, I added a Basic White panel on which I stamped a sentiment from the Berry Blessings (retired) Sale-a-bration stamp set as well as an image from the Sweet Strawberry set.
