Magic of the Season

Today I have a project I designed recently for my November Christmas card buffets.  It features the Home for Christmas DSP.

This layout really grew out of another, completely different, sketch I had seen. It is a bit unusual for me to use a sentiment as my focal point, but I think it works in this case. I began by heat embossing the sentiment in gold on Very Vanilla card stock. I die-cut it using the Circles Collection Framelits and layered it on another circle cut from Real Red card stock. The label is punched from Mossy Meadow card stock using the Ornate Tag Topper punch. I punched both ends so that I could add the ribbon at both the top and the bottom.

I added half of a gold metallic doily peeking out from behind the label. Behind that I layered two different patterns from the Home for Christmas DSP pack which I then mounted on a Real Red card base.  The only embellishments are some 1/8" Striped Ribbon in Real Red, a wooden Snowflake Element and some rhinestones.

On the inside I added another little tag that I also heat embossed in gold and punched using the Note Tag punch.

All Is Calm for Sunday Stamps

Happy November!  Can you believe it? Where has the fall gone??  If you are one of those people who can't start thinking about Christmas until after Halloween, the time has come! Time to get going on those Christmas projects! Today I have some inspiration for you from this week's new challenge over at Sunday Stamps.  It is a colour challenge this week...here is the inspiration photo:

Holiday card featuring the Wonderland stamp set and Home for Christmas DSP

This card was SO much fun to make! It has been a very long time since I have been able to just sit and play with ink, paper and rubber. I began by sponging a piece of the sheet music patterned DSP from the Home for Christmas pack. I used Island Indigo and Night of Navy inks for the sponging. Then I stamped the trees from the Wonderland stamp set in Soft Suede and white Staz On ink. I then spritzed the entire thing with Stampin' Mist. I played some more, adding hints of Versamark ink around the edges and sprinkling with gold embossing powder.

The stamped panel is matted on a piece of Soft Suede card stock and then mounted on a Kraft card base. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold on a strip of vellum. I added some gold metallic thread, a wooden Snowflake Element and a single rhinestone.

On the inside I stamped the pine branch in Soft Suede ink, stamping off once. The sentiment, which is from the Six Sayings host set, is heat embossed in gold.

I am sooo happy with the way this one turned out.  Amazing things can happen when you just let yourself play.  Give it a go and see what this colour challenge inspires you to create, then share it with us over at Sunday Stamps. :)

Merry Little Christmas

I am getting so excited about my upcoming Christmas card buffets this week!  It is going to be a full house each night as we get busy creating cards to send to those we love this season.  Here is another of the projects that will be on offer:

Christmas card featuring the Home for Christmas DSP and Cozy Christmas stamp set.

The inspiration for this one came from a sample I found on Pinterest by the ever-so-talented Mercedes Weber. I layered several different patterns from the Home for Christmas DSP pack to create a collage effect. I used the Angled and Ornate Tag Topper punches to create the two larger tags and the Tags and Labels Framelits for the stamped one. The sentiment, from the Cozy Christmas set, is stamped in Basic Black ink. That sweet little deer is fussy-cut from the Home for Christmas DSP...I just love his sweet little face and jolly red bow!

I also layered a Tea Lace Doily,  a gold foil poinsettia, cut with the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits and a Home for Christmas Designer button, tied with gold baker's twine. I built the card front on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock which I sponged around the edges with Whisper White craft ink. I layered that on a piece of Real Red card stock before mounting it on a Mossy Meadow card base.

On the inside I stamped another of the sentiments from the Cozy Christmas stamp set in Basic Black ink and then the bell image, also from the Cozy Christmas set, in Crumb Cake behind it.

I think this is my favourite of all ten cards I'm offering at this event. I'm sure it will be a popular one!

Merry Monday

I am generally not a fan of Mondays, but this week will be a festive one, as I host my second round of Christmas card buffets. We'll be rockin' the Christmas music this Halloween!  Here is another of the projects we'll be making:

Christmas card featuring the Snow Place stamp set

This one is a CASE of a card in the Holiday catalogue. I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay on a piece of Home for Christmas DSP. To create the "snow" I tore the edge of a piece of white corrugated paper...I love the look of that stuff.  The snowmen are stamped in Basic Gray ink and then die-cut using the Snow Friends Framelits. All of their accessories are also die-cut using the same set.

The only embellishments on this card are the little red rhinestones on the larger snowman's hat, which I coloured with a red Sharpie, and some Bermuda Bay thick Baker's Twine.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment , which is also from the Snow Place set, in Bermuda Bay, and the snowflakes in Basic Gray, stamped off once.

I have to say, dressing up these little fellows reminded me of playing paper dolls when I was little...such fun!  I may just have to make some more ;)

Today's project is another one I designed for my November Christmas Card buffets.

Christmas card featuring the Cozy Christmas and Flurry of Wishes stamp sets

I really love the vintage images in the Cozy Christmas stamp set.  Here I used two images to create the scene inside my ornament cut-out. I stamped them in Night of Navy ink. I used the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits to cut the window in my card front and the Softly Falling TIEF to add some texture. The little ornament hanger is also die-cut using the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits from silver foil sheets.

I used a silver metallic doily to accent the sentiment, along with a snowflake stamped in Night of Navy ink using the Flurry of Wishes stamp set. The snowflake is punched using the Snow Flurry punch.  The sentiment is from the Cozy Christmas set and is heat embossed in silver.  By way of embellishment I added a Winter Wonderland Embellishment and some silver Cording Trim. The card is built on a Smoky Slate card base.

On the inside I stamped Santa's sleigh again in Night of Navy ink and then heat embossed the sentiment, from the Six Sayings host set, in silver.

Christmas Dove

Today I have another of the projects I designed for my Handmade for the Holidays card buffet next week.  It is promising to be a busy one!  Just a few seats remaining. This one uses the gorgeous Dove of Peace stamp.

Here I used something old, new and blue ;)  The Dove of Peace image is heat embossed in silver on Night of Navy card stock...so pretty! To create the stars I stamped the smaller spatter image from the Gorgeous Grunge set using silver Encore Metallic ink (retired).  The sentiment, which is from the retired Greetings of the Season set, is also heat embossed in silver.

I matted the front panel on a piece of Whisper White card stock before mounting it on a Night of Navy card base. The only embellishments are some silver cording trim and a few rhinestones for added sparkle.

On the inside I added a panel of Whisper White card stock on which I stamped a sentiment from the Peaceful Pines set in Night of Navy ink. I added the dove image in the lower corner, also in Night of Navy ink.

Christmas card featuring the Peaceful Wreath stamp set and Christmas Greetings Thinlits

Lately I am loving the combination of Very Vanilla, Tip Top Taupe and gold. Here I heat embossed the wreath from the Peaceful Wreath stamp set in gold on Very Vanilla card stock. I die-cut it using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. The die-cut sentiment was cut from gold foil sheets the Christmas Greetings Thinlits. 

 The background panel is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock embossed with the Softly Falling TIEF. I added a strip of Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum behind the wreath, which adds just a bit more gold shimmer. The sentiment banner is stamped in Tip Top Taupe ink using one of the stamps in the Peaceful Wreath set. The only embellishment here is some 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon in Crumb Cake. The card is built on a Tip Top Taupe card base.

On the inside I heat embossed the pine bough image from the Peaceful Wreath set in gold and stamped a sentiment from the (retired) More Merry Messages stamp set in Tip Top Taupe ink.
