A Day to Celebrate for Sunday Stamps

Happy New Year! I wish you health, happiness and, of course, creativity in 2017. To start this brand new, shiny year we have a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps...

In honour of the new year, I used several NEW products on my project for the Design Team:

Today truly is a day to celebrate: the start of a new year, full of potential. I love this time of year for so many reasons, not the least of which is the launch of the brand new Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration. I used lots of new products on this card, all from the Falling in Love Suite on pages 50-52. I used DSP from the Falling in Love pack for my background and then layered three different die-cuts done with the So Detailed Thinlits. I used Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Wisteria Wonder, all colours I do not often reach for, but I love the shadow effect the layering creates.

I used some 1/4" Very Vanilla Satin ribbon, which is also from the Falling in Love Suite. That goregeous label, the tassel and the irridescent sequins are all from the Cupcakes and Carousels Embellishment Kit, talk about fabulous! You're going to be seeing a lot from that kit here very soon! The sentiment, which is heat embossed in gold, is from the So In Love stamp set.

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla panel on which I stamped another sentiment and a floral image, both from the So in Love set, in Crumb Cake ink.

One of the things I love most about being part of the Sunday Stamps Design Team is the way the challenges stretch my creativity outside of my comfort zone. This colour challenge was a tough one for me, as I do not typcially create with these colours, but I sure am happy with the result! So why not start 2017 by stretching yourself a little bit? Give this challenge a try and share with us over at Sunday Stamps. Hope your first week of 2017 is a fabulous one!

  1. Love your card. Of all those in the challenge it really caught my eye. Is the background paper or some special technique? It really adds to the card.

    1. Hi Cheryl...thanks for your kind words about my card. The background paper is Designger Series Paper from the new Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalogue, which goes live on Wednesday. The paper is called Falling in Love and you can find it on page 51. It is AWESOME!
