Wedding Wishes

Whew...this week is flying by! How is it Wednesday already? Why is it that holidays pass so quickly? I still have so much on my To-do list and the week is half over. Time to get cracking. I sure hope you are having a more productive week than I thus far!
Today I have a pretty wedding card I designed for my All-occasions card buffet next week.

I used products from the Falling In Love Suite to put this card together. I love the way that Stampin' Up! offers these suites of products that coordinate beautifully to make designing super quick and easy. Here I began with a Very Vanilla card stock panel that I embossed using the Falling Petals TIEF. I layered that on some silver foil card stock, but before I did, I die-cut a heart to use for matting behind the sentiment. The DSP heart is die-cut from one of the lacy patterns in the Falling in Love DSP. For both the DSP and the silver foil hearts I used the Sweet and Sassy Framelits.

The sentiment is from the Floral Phrases stamp set. It and the frame around it are heat embossed in silver. I then die-cut the detailed floral strip using the So Detailed Thinlit dies. Sooo pretty!

I added a Falling in Love embellishment and a couple of rhinestones for some sparkle and mounted the entire panel on a Sahara Sand card stock base.

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla card stock panel on which I heat embossed a sentiment from the Floral Phrases stamp set in silver.

I think this will be a popular choice at my buffet next week! Now to get busy prepping ;)

Happy Birthday to...my mom!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Yesterday was my mom's 74th birthday. Unfortunately we weren't able to spend time with her, as they live about four hours north of us and the wintry weather up there is NOT conducive to quick visits. I thought I would share with you the card I made in her honour...

Once again I pulled out my new Falling In Love DSP...I just can't get enough of that stuff! I created the frame using both the Stitched Shapes and Layering Squares framelits. I die-cut the stitched Very Vanilla square first and then centred a smaller square fie from the Layering Squares and ran it through again. Easy-peasy frame. The gorgeous copper filigree is cut from copper foil sheets using the new So Detailed Thinlits...LOVE these! I matted the entire frame with a scalloped copper square, which I also die-cut using the Layering Squares framelits. The sentiment is from the Circle of Spring stamp set and is heat embossed in copper. I added a little punched butterfly in the same DSP, punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch.

The background panel is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock which I embossed using the Elegant Dots TIEF. I mounted it on a Crumb Cake card stock base. The pretty coppery strip behind my frame is a piece of DSP from the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP pack. I've been hoarding saving it for just the right project and this certainly is it! I love the way it works with the copper die-cut! I added a touch of girlie with one of the new Lace Doilies, some copper metallic thread and a few pearls.

On the inside I added another Very Vanilla card stock panel on which I stamped a sentiment from the Cottage Greetings stamp set and added another punched butterfy.

I actually loved this project so much that I decided to include it in my All About Birthdays card buffet this week. If you are local to Cambridge and would like to join us check out my Upcoming Events tab at the top of this page for information.

Have a great week!

A Day to Celebrate for Sunday Stamps

Happy New Year! I wish you health, happiness and, of course, creativity in 2017. To start this brand new, shiny year we have a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps...

In honour of the new year, I used several NEW products on my project for the Design Team:

Today truly is a day to celebrate: the start of a new year, full of potential. I love this time of year for so many reasons, not the least of which is the launch of the brand new Occasions Catalogue and Sale-a-bration. I used lots of new products on this card, all from the Falling in Love Suite on pages 50-52. I used DSP from the Falling in Love pack for my background and then layered three different die-cuts done with the So Detailed Thinlits. I used Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum and Wisteria Wonder, all colours I do not often reach for, but I love the shadow effect the layering creates.

I used some 1/4" Very Vanilla Satin ribbon, which is also from the Falling in Love Suite. That goregeous label, the tassel and the irridescent sequins are all from the Cupcakes and Carousels Embellishment Kit, talk about fabulous! You're going to be seeing a lot from that kit here very soon! The sentiment, which is heat embossed in gold, is from the So In Love stamp set.

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla panel on which I stamped another sentiment and a floral image, both from the So in Love set, in Crumb Cake ink.

One of the things I love most about being part of the Sunday Stamps Design Team is the way the challenges stretch my creativity outside of my comfort zone. This colour challenge was a tough one for me, as I do not typcially create with these colours, but I sure am happy with the result! So why not start 2017 by stretching yourself a little bit? Give this challenge a try and share with us over at Sunday Stamps. Hope your first week of 2017 is a fabulous one!
