Sending Smiles for Sunday Stamps

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. Mine is extra-fabulous because it is the start of my March Break. A whole week to catch up on projects around the house and, of course, stamp! Wahoooo!

Today marks the start of a new sketch challenge over at Sunday Stamps.

Here is my take on it:

I actually designed this card weeks ago. I had my challenges mixed up and thought this one was up last month...oops! The nice thing is that it was done WELL in advance, which is a pretty rare occurence for me these days! I used some Carried Away Sale-a-bration DSP for the banner element, die-cutting it with the Banners Framelits. The background Whisper White panel is embossed using the Seaside TIEF.

I created an ombre look on the balloons by first inking the entire stamp with the lighter shade of ink (Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride) and then dabbing on the darker shade with a sponge dauber. I used Emerald Envy over the Mint Macaron and Rose Red over the Blushing Bride. I used the Up and Away Framelits to die-cut the balloons.
The sentiment and clouds are stamped in Smoky Slate ink on a Whisper White circle which I die-cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. I layered the white circle on a Blushing Bride scalloped circle, which I cue using the Layering Circles Framelits.

I added some Blushing Bride Baker's twine (retired) and a little silver enamel heart for just a touch of shine.

Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's projects and then give our sketch a go. We'd love to see your take on it, so be sure to share it with us at Sunday Stamps.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Lift Your Spirits

Happy Day-after-Valentine's Day! I hope you had a great day. Today is Wednesday, which means it is downhill to the weekend from here...wahooo!!

Today I have a card I designed for my upcoming Lift Me Up Bundle class...

I used my Watercolour Pencils to create the soft background, scribbling on a piece of watercolour paper with the Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point pencils and then blending with an aquapainter. It is just amazing how beautifully these pencils blend...love it! Once it had dried, I heat embossed some fluffy clouds from the Lift Me Up stamp set in white. I layered the watercolour background on a piece of Pool Party card stock and then mounted it on a piece of Smoky Slate card stock that I had embossed with the Seaside TIEF. The card is built on a Pool Party card stock base.

The stamped balloons are done in Island Indigo and Smokey Slate and die cut using the  Up and Away Framelits, as is the detailed white balloon. The sentiment is heat embossed in white on Pool Party card stock and die-cut using the Project Life Cards and Labels framelits. I added a few vellum clouds to added depth.
The only embellishments are a bit of silver metallic thread and a few rhinestones.

On the inside, I added a Whisper White panel on which I stamped the sentiment, from the Lift Me Up stamp set in Island Indigo ink, a balloon in Pool Party and some clouds in Smoky Slate (stamped off once),.

If you haven't yet signed up for my class, there is still limited space available. Live too far away to attend in person? It is available as a Class to Go! Click the Upcoming Events tab above for details.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Lift Me Up

Well yesterday was certainly a crazy day, what with the launch of the new Occasions catalogue and Sale-a-bration and all...whew!
Today I have a project I designed for my upcoming All About Birthdays Card Buffet. It is a masculine card that uses a new bundle from the Occasions catty...

I know many people struggle to create masculine cards, but I love them! I like getting all grungy and playing with layers and texture. Here I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and then added texture with the Timeless Textures stamp set. I used Crumb Cake ink, both full-strength and stamped off to create depth. The balloon images are from the Lift Me Up stamp set. I stamped them in Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler ink.
Then I took my Versamark pad directly to the edges of the stamped panel. I sprinkled the inked edges with copper embossing powder and heat set the powder...I love the effect it creates. I also added some stamped spatters in copper as well. The images behind the sentiment are stamped and then die-cut using the coodination Up and Away Framelits...this is such an awesome bundle! The sentiment is also from the Lift Me Up stamp set. I stamped it in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla card stock. I added seme Night of Navy solid baker's twine and some linen thread behind the sentiment.

On the inside I added a Very Vanilla panel on which I stamped the smaller balloon in Night of Navy ink (stamped off twice) and the clouds and sentiment in Crumb Cake.

This bundle is quickly becoming a favourite of mine! I have so many more ideas...I just need more time to create!
