Heroic Man-Card

Well it's Monday again...where did the weekend go?  I hope you enjoyed yours and had some time to stamp :)  Today I have a Man-card for you...perfect for the superman in your life...that I made with this week's challenge over at The Friday Mash-up in mind.  Here is the challenge:

And here is my project:

Birthday card featuring the Calling All Heroes photopolymer stamp set.
I knew I had a success on my hands when my DH came into my craft room, went right to this card and said "This is cool!  I really like this one."  That doesn't happen very often...actually almost never.  Anyhow, this one has the Manly "stamp" of approval (pardon the pun!).  The colours I used were Real Red, Tangelo Twist, Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise and Gumball Green, in addition to Basic Black, of course.

To get the 3D effect on the cityscape, I first stamped the buildings directly on the Gumball Green background using Basic Black ink.  Then, on a scrap of Whisper White, I stamped it again using Versamark and heat embossed it in black.  I fussy-cut it out and then adhered it to the original image with dimensionals, slightly off-setting it to allow the  other image to show behind it.

On the inside of the card I stamped the word "Super" using the letters from the Calling All Heroes set and "Hope it's" from the Endless Birthday Wishes set.

I love this fun set...so many possibilities...and not only for Man-cards...I know plenty of Superwomen who would love this set!  This one is available only while supplies last, so be sure to order before it's too late!

Loving the new Photopolymer Stamps!

I have to admit that when Stampin' Up! first announced they were entering the world of truly clear photopolymer stamps I was a little bit skeptical.  I have used "clear" stamps from other companies before and was never really satisfied with the quality of the image I got; hence my love of Stampin' Up!'s wonderful red rubber stamps.  I decided I just had to give SU's version a try and am I ever glad I did!  These photopolymer stamps are terrific!!  No problems at all with getting a clear crisp image!  Plus the fact that I can see right through them makes placement a snap.  No Stamp-a-ma-jig required!  I was so excited about these stamps I just had to share it with my Tri-city Stampers team, so I created a Make-n-Take for our team meeting this week that uses the Typeset Alphabet set.  Have a look:

Any-occasion card featuring the Typeset Alphabet Photopolymer stamp set.
The original design concept for this card came from Penny Smiley, a fellow demonstrator who posted her sample on our demonstrator forum.  I changed up her original design by adding texture along the bottom of the card with the Honeycomb TIEF.  I also added a bit more colour with the stamped-off Island Indigo speech bubbles in the  background and the Crumb Cake card base, as well as the use of DSP instead of card stock on the horizontal strip.  The best thing about creating this card was the stamps themselves.  They work beautifully, are super-sticky when adhering to the clear blocks and are so easy to place.  I can't wait to get my hands on the latest photopolymer offering called Bombs Away Birthday:

Item #133411

I SO love the fun images in this set!  There are a ton of great project ideas floating around in my head already.  You really need to give these new stamps a try...I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was!

Photopoly-what??

Stampin' Up! has done it again!  They've surprised us all with a brand new product announcement that none of us anticipated!

Introducing new Photopolymer stamps.  Yep, that's right...Stampin' Up now has a truly CLEAR option.  For a long time we demonstrators were told that Photopolymer stamps just weren't an option for Stampin' Up! because they just didn't meet the strict quality standards our stamps are known for.  Well, here's the news we received on Friday:

We've searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we've found it. We're excited to announce that we now have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps! The new photopolymer will be an addition to our stamp line and will appeal to all types of stampers. Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let's just say they're meant for each other! Photopolymer stamps will also be unique, fun designs that will inspire you and provide more versatile options you may not see in our traditional wood- and clear-mount stamp options.
So, what makes them so great?
  • They're entirely transparent for perfect placement every time
  • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
  • Can you say sticky? (Don't worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
  • They're age tested. They won't yellow or cloud up over time.
  • They use FDA, food-safe material. How far can you stretch your stamping creativity?
  • They're economical!  This first-ever offering, called Designer Typeset, features 57 pieces for just $16.95

Now, keep in mind that these stamps are being offered on a trial basis.  Based on popularity, they hope to release more photopolymer stamp sets over the coming months. At this time Stampin' Up! doesn't plan on offering a line of photopolymer sets as expansive as the wood-mount and clear-mount lines.  The Designer Typeset photopolymer stamp set will not be offered in wood mount or clear mount options.  To learn more about this fantastic new stamp line, click HERE.
