Colour Me Sunday

Happy First Day of the Week!  I hope you are having a great weekend :)
It's time for a new colour challenge over at Sunday Stamps...this time it's a monochromatic scheme...

...and here is my Design Team project:

Birthday card featuring the Watercolor Wings stamp set with sentiment from Butterfly Basics
I began building this project on a Basic Gray card base.  The background layer is also Basic Gray and is embossed using the Elegant Dots TIEF.  The two pieces of DSP are from the Timeless Elegance pack...so many gorgeous patterns to love in there!  To stamp the butterfly, I used the large solid butterfly image from the Watercolor Wing set in Smoky Slate ink.  Then I stamped the detail image in Basic Gray (retired) and finally I heat embossed the border in silver.  The finished butterfly was die-cut using the Bold Butterfly Framelits. I layered the die-cut butterfly on a silver metallic doily.

The sentiment, from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, is heat embossed in Smoky Slate (retired) embossing powder on a strip of Basic Gray card stock. I added some pearls to the sentiment strip as well as the body of the butterfly, and used some silver satin ribbon for added texure and shine.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment, from the Butterfly Basics set,  in Smoky Slate ink.  The small butterfly was stamped using Smoky Slate ink for the solid image, Basic Gray for the border and I heat embossed the detail in silver.  This one was die-cut using the Butterflies Thinlits.  Once again, I added a few pearls reminiscent of the front of the card.
This monochromatic, neutral colour scheme is super versatile.  Be sure to check out the other Design Team members' creations and then give it a go yourself.  Happy stamping!
